i have been jamming out to mindless self indulgence and death from above 1979 playing counter strike: source and i realize fast music makes me play better.

im getting kind of tired of it though, can anyone suggest some new music for me? (please no metal)

Crap, no metal. Why even bother asking then?

Liquid Tension Experiment has some pretty fast stuff, but they also have slow passages too. It's a tradeoff.

I suspect the fast end of my music is pretty slow compared to what people will end up recomending. I'm guessing a lot of prog rock would suit your needs though. Liquid Tension Experiment maybe.

But seriously, I can offer no suggestions of good fast music that is not metal. Unless you want something classical.

Steve Morse, Dixie Dregs, Neal Morse, Roine Stolt, The Flower Kings, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Spock's Beard, Eric Johnson, Dream Theater. Some of these could be considered metal, but are mainly just progressive rock, and are all pretty damn fast.

WTF people? Seriously, glitchcore. [error], edIT, Venetian Snares, 000. Drum and bass can be good to. Concord Dawn and Pedulum. Maybe some Locust? That and Converge, very fast, very hectic.

any Dead Kennedys will work, really.

Megadeth. Testament are nice thrash (Non screaming) metal bands that ROCK OUT.

But I think, probably the best thing you could do, is get some :Wumpscut:. Seriously, that stuff can get you pumped up. Also Velvet Acid Christ and Skinny Puppy.

Look up some Jungle bands on the internet, should fit you.

White Mice should work fine too, aggressive Noisecore band that kicks ass (and ears)

Not Pendulum though. They only have 2 good songs, and they have both been played way too much. Bad Rizzo.

early afi(fist two albums) is pretty good fast music.
the unseen are also pretty good.

oh, and LARD. pretty fast, ministry like music(due to shared musicians) but with the dead kennedys vocalist.

power metal is always good for teh fast!

Blind Guardian, Demons & Wizards, Dragonforce, Dream Evil, Edguy, Hammerfall, and Iced Earth.

you could also go into the crazy guitar virtuosic people like Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai, but I'm no source of knowledge for either. I like Malmsteen's Trilogy, good 80's psychotically-fast-rock especially during the solos.

Other metal that is good, and accessible: Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, In Flames (best in Jester Race), Nevermore.

Well, just take out The Crown from my list, and you'll have no worries about OTT screaming. Also, about power metal:

Definitely check out Supergrass's first album, I Should Coco. Really excellent skeezy rock played at breakneck speed. It always cheers me up.

Oh, if we're doing non-screamy metal, then yeah, Testament and Megadeth ALL THA WAY.

And Dragonforce is super fast and probably the most lyrically inoffensive band in all of metal.

And though I love them both, Iced Earth and In Flames are not. In Flames did have an album called Whoracle, after all.

And if you're gonna do Steve Vai, get Passion and Warfare and Live in an Ultra World. Those are his best, hands down.

Catch 22 and streetlight Manifesto (coincidentally two of my favorite bands) are extremely fast. I know what you mean about Fast music making you play better too. well, I don't play counter-strike much, but fast music definitely seems to make me think and react faster when doing things like that, so yeah, I can see how that would work. Avenged Sevenfold, perhaps? Although I personally don't care for the singer too much. Doesn't have, like, ANY range, and it sounds like he's smoked 2350929385298509285 cigarettes in his life already, but they have some pretty neat guitar work.

Oh snap, Ozzy Osbourne. Bark at the Moon = right up your alley. Pretty much any Ozzy that was made when Randy Rhodes was alive.

The occasional Red Hot Chili Peppers song, maybe?

If I'd ever listened to anything you mentioned so I had something to compare "fast" to, then I might be of more help.

Me, personally, I play better when I've got something with a riff that just catches me somehow. "Wollt ihr das Bett in Flamen Sehen" by Rammstein tends to get my adrenaline flowing. (Also, in regards to Rammstein, "Heirate mich" is strangly appropriate to PvP to in World of Warcraft with my undead warlock seeing as the song's about necrophilia.) A bunch of songs by Audioslave work wonders for me, too. Cochise, Show Me How To Live, Gasoline, Set It Off are all good songs for me personally when I'm visiting mass carnage against Nazis in Call of Duty.

Can't go wrong with Concord Dawn though, they did a tribute to slayer on one of their albums and they're named after Star Wars.

EDIT: Their myspace has some new tracks from their new album. They seems to be taking a totally different direction from their old albums. Very progressive for Dn'B.

For the record, my younger brother bought the album and sent it to me. It's okay, so I don't remove it from my playlist. I tend to skip over most the songs when random picks it up, but occasionally, I'll just sit back and listen and not mind it.

I would be suprised if you hadn't heard 'Slam' or 'Tarantula', as they seem to get the most play out of any Pendulum songs at the moment. I'm not a fan though. I go to Drum n Bass raves at least once a week, and I'm sick of DJs playing 4 / 5 Pendulum songs in the same set. It's just not cool. That being said, 'Another Planet' and 'The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix)' are both stone cold classics, so I can't diss them too much.

Flogging Molly makes me very angry. Not soccer-hooligans angry, just homicidally angry. Don't leave me and a speaker blaring said band in the same room for more than about fifteen minutes or everyone in the building will get a chopstick to the eye.

More on topic, when I think 'fast' I generally think 'spastic.' In that vein, Kid606's "Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You" gets the job done nicely.

If fast music is your game, drum and bass is a good choice. Concord Dawn has some killer tracks, but are a rather heavy proposition.... if your more inclined towards some sort of ambient, atmospheric drum and bass, I wholeheartedly recommend an DnB outfit named Shapeshifter.
