--- Quote from: thehollow on 11 Nov 2007, 20:56 ---This ridiculous spanish "folk metal" band Mägo de Oz (Wizard of Oz, with an umlaut thrown in for good measure). I heard them everywhere when I was studying in spain and now I can't help but listen to them every once in awhile. Crazy metal with celtic flutes and accordions and other weird stuff. Everyone I've played it for thinks it's shit, but i can't help but think it's fun.

--- End quote ---

Oh man. At work we had a running joke about how shit they are, and one opf my friends would randomly start singing one of their songs while dancing around like a pixie. One time, a guy we didn't like overheard us and approached us, saying that it was sych a good song, i didn't quite know how to react.

KharBevNor:
Mago De Oz are actually one of the first folk metal bands (though they didn't record anything for years), which is really quite worrying, as they've spent the bulk of their career pretending to be Skyclad. They even called their live album 'Fölktergeist' (See the Skyclad's 'Polkageist', on the album 'Folkemon'), which is just lamentable on a number of levels. For example, if you pronounce the umlaut, it sounds a lot like 'Felchtergeist'. Also, just the fucking 'Belfast' album. That album is basically a collective act of oral sex performed on Skyclad.

Also someone better not have fucking badmouthed folk metal up there. Fo' real. Folk metal is the best metal.

bells:
yeah, f- yeah blondie were wik!

i listen to patsy cline way too much but she was way awesome so i don't feel bad about that. i listen to the proclaimers sometimes, though mostly just to decipher their lyrics for the benefit of their perplexed audiences. joe cocker is an old fave particularly all the trashy covers and the sweaty woodstock footage. and 'kung fu fighting', 'knock on wood', 'footloose' oh yeah.

mark owen (of take that fame) put out this song called 'believe in the boogie' once upon a time and it stuck to the inside of my brain for far too long.

will i be pummelled for liking prince? the man is a genius. he's short, sure, but he makes up for it in the size of his saxophone.

Dread Zeppelin.

Has to be one of the most gimmicky bands around.

--- End quote ---

You want a Gimmicky band? try Beatallica. Metal covers of Beatles songs, combined with Metallica songs. Truly gimmicky, and kind of funny

PECOAE:
...Jimmy Eat World's Futures album.  I really, really like it.

Some System of a Down (*braces self for flaming*)...

Also, Audioslave's second album.

And Alien Ant Farm.  They are amazing.
