Okay, I got one. I like Soundgarden's more radio-friendly stuff (Superunknown) more than their older, Zeppelin inspired work.

Nothing wrong with that. Cornell's voice is aural orgasm anyway you can get it, and the Zeppelin inspired stuff, well, sounds like Zeppelin. (not a fan)

I listened to pretty much only mainstream rock until a little over a year ago, so some of those bands have stuck with me, although I don't listen to them as much as I used to.  I enjoy listening to Linkin Park every once in a while, as well as Evanescence.  System of a Down I still like quite a bit.  I also tend to like a lot of 80's music, including Duran Duran.

I once downloaded and burned the entire Crazy Frog album for my raving mad little sister.
That is, after my brother refused for the sake of her soul or something to that effect.

She's a tough girl since it seems she has lived through it unscathed.

Brothers and sister, come togther! Can't we just once hunt down the wanker behind the Crazy Frog and shoot him in the head instead? Unity!

Oh, a guilty pleasure? Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold. Say what you will, it's a pretty decent track with great solos and HST references. No real love for the band or their devotees though.[/i]

While I don't particularly appreciate you saying I should shot my sister(even though  I know you're joking). She is twelve and as such she listens almost exclusively to what any sane person would define as "dire".

And now some of you are probably going say I listened to the Beatles(or something) at that age. Well, the Beatles is shite and don't you ever forget it punk ;)

Them's fighting words.

Mind you, I totally disagree with the idea that the music from when you were 15-19 is the music that shapes your taste.  I didn't listen to much music during that time, but I do now.  Of the music I listen to now only two acts had their peak in the period 1989-1994; one of those I didn't discover until around 2002, and I'd hardly say The Orb shaped my musical taste.

Really, my father played them all the time.

I actually think "Toxic" by Britney Spears is a fucking brilliant song.  I mean, in the context of going out dancing?  Good god, it's like crack!

But hey, if you thought I couldn't top that, just wait.  One of the songs that makes me happier than anything ever is a cover of J-Lo's "I'm Real" by The Starting Line.  It's basically taking the two lowest forms of music and fusing them into one, but somehow it ends up fun as hell.  The most amusing thing to do with this song is to slip it on a mixtape inbetween two of your most pretentious bands, think early Animal Collective and Deerhoof.  It's great to watch hipsters caught off-guard.

I disagree with the 15-19 theory too as I listened to Ace of Base and Celine Dion back then. Well, I did get into Barenaked Ladies about the age of 19, but that's something else entirely.

Well, Ace of Base is still awesome...

I guess that makes me an asshole.

I it bad that I don't ate that new Bad Day song by Daniel Powter? It's just...it doesn't suck! it's on MTV 467 times a-freaking-day, but it doesn't suck! it's just too catchy to shake.

also, I don't really feel that guilty, but my two favorite classic rock songs as of late are Sympathy for The Devil, and Bohemian Rhapsody. The Flaming Lips cover of it actually isn't too bad either.

Is it wrong that I was feeling bad for watching the Tenacious D DVD concert? If so, I don't want to be right. I just love their song Dio, and how it is pretty much like a giant comedy routine, with rock music.

Uh, what else?  I will admit to owning The Eminem Show and Hybrid Theory in my CD collection... hey, I was young once, I didn't know any better.  Oh, and the obligatory first CD you buy and never know why you did it: Astrolounge from Smash Mouth.

Ah, here we go.  Winnar: CHEF AID.  Y'know, the South Park Album.

Huh.  First CD I bought was Dark Side of the Moon, and I know exactly why I did it.  Then again, I was a late adopter of CD technology (due to lack of money).  First album I bought full stop... actually, I think that might have been my original cassette copy of DSotM.  Oh, well.

I had that problem with Larger Than Life by the Backstreet Boys.  I heard that song on the radio at work and didn't recognise who'd sung it.  And so an hour later I was humming it under my breath when one of my friends asked me why I was singing a Backstreet Boys song.

I felt... dirty.  And ever since then I've thought that I *should* hate that song, but every time I hear it it gets stuck in my head.

When I was 11, I got my first 3 CDs for Christmas, exactly what I wanted--The Backstreet Boys' "Millenium", Britney Spears's ... whatever her first album was, and yes, LOU BEGA.  That's an astronomically awful trio.  Anyone who can make it through that Lou Bega CD deserves a medal.

First CD I ever bought was the Cranberries "Everyone Else is Doing it So Why Can't We?" I still love that CD. So enh.

PS: Tenacious D is freaking awesome and anyone who disagrees has a stick stuck so far up their ass that they're obviously being used as a puppet by someone who is obviously the antichrist.

Edit: Mambo #5 is still fucking catchy. The rest of the album is shit, but fuck I shake my ass whenever #5 comes on at like... Best Buy heh.

My first cd I bought was Elephant by White Stripes, I don't regret that at all.

My guilty pleasure is probably The Goodies. I think they made very good comedy-pop songs. In fact, I'm actually listening to one of their songs now, Stuff That Gibbon, Graeme Garden has an alright voice, and it suits this song, but Bill Oddie has the best singing voice in the group by far, and the other two admitted it.
