Sure they're all old now but they still know how to ROCK THE HELL OUT. I am so buying tickets the minute they come on sale tomorrow morning.

I've seen a few New Zealanders post here before, who else is going?

haha, they're coming over here too.

The most expensive tickets are like $500. Insult to music. Admittedly, they got as low as $60ish, I think. I assume those people get to sit in the toilets.

I've never understood the massive fanbase the Stones accumulated.

They have like five good songs, and a hundred million more that sound exactly the same.

And how is it that Keith Richards isn't dead yet?

The Stones were SO dissapointing during the Super Bowl. Mic really has nothing to offer anymore. The rest are still alright, they should just play everything as instrumentals from here on out.

As Robin Williams said, Keith Richards contains the cure for cancer.  If the world was destroyed by nukes, there'd be nothing left but a whole bunch of cockaroaches and Keith.  He'd be sitting there smoking crack.

As for the Stones, never really did much care for them.  Like Zaarin said, they aren't that diverse, which for that genre of music, well, you need to be diverse.  I'm a much bigger fan of Aerosmith.

Ewwww Aerosmith...  Gotta say outside of Dream On, everything you said about the Stones is 2x more true for Aerosmith, and they're less good to boot.

Keith Richards IS dead, he just hasn't stopped moving.
As for the Stones themselves, I think that they're pretty good. Most of their songs are O.K. but they do keep it varied enough from album to album to keep things interesting.

I couldn't get presale tickets this morning so I guess I'm waiting until Wednesday to get mine. I am so going though!

Also, the Stones are so > Aerosmith that it's laughable. Go listen to Sticky Fingers.

The Stones were good, but Mic Jagger is too far past his prime to be worth seeing if the Super Bowl was any indication at least. I'd pay to see the rest of the band though.

I'm not nearly as much of a Stones fan as I used to be, certainly not to the point where I'd spend that much money to go see them way past their prime.

Sympathy for the Devil is still one of my favorite songs ever though.

I had a choice to see The Stones or Bob Dylan (They came to Calgary within...2 months of eachother), and I went with Bob Dylan. I don't regret it at all, he's still sounding great after all those years.

I still like the stone alot, but I have to agree with the repetative nature of some of their songs. Wild Horses and Gimme Shelter though. Mmm.

I can't remember who said it (I'm pretty sure it was Klosterman), but I remember hearing someone talking about how people no longer go to see the Rolling Stones because it's the Rolling Stones and they like their music. Nowadays, people go to see the Rolling Stones because they are the biggest cultural milestone that is left from that era.

It's an interesting idea, while being a frightening one at the same time since, with that logic, it could mean that Nickleback or Green Day will continue to tour until their living corpses are finally completely mumified from the combined effect of too many cigarettes and years of excessive rock light shows.

Man have you heard him sing latley? Now that his voice has gone to shit that was reason enough for me to not want to go. The guy's music and songwriting are good, but I just can't stand his voice anymore.

Now he sounds like the guy from Mercury Rev. I can't even listen to Mercury Rev because of their singer.

He was never amazing, but he was decent. I think Blood On The Tracks and Desire showed what he could do vocally.

However, he was never brilliant, but it was never about that. Dylan is about lyrics, and that's why the fact that his voice sounds like rubbing sandpaper on my eardrum doesn't bother me.
