hmm...The Starland Ballroom (sayersvile, NJ) is a great goddamned venue, I may attend just for that. but I'll wait until they have more info on the artists. who is going to be playing?

edit: never mind, I was reading the wrong post. it's not at the starland

...but, if the setlist is nice, I'll probably go anyway.

I bought my tickets the day they went on sale. 2-day pass for $30. I just received an e-mail where the headlining acts are The Streets and Bloc Party, on Saturday and Sunday respectively. (And now 2-day passes are $35. Sweet, I saved five bucks.)

I went last year, loved it. Going again this year. Anyone up for boozing with me?

Yeah there is, last year Intonation was put on by Pitchfork, this year Pitchfork decided to do their own thing so there is two different festivals. The Intonation one is in June, the Pitchfork one in July.

Yeah, I realized that like 5 minutes after I posted this, 'cause I got an e-mail from Intonation. So the Streets and Bloc Party are headlining Intonation, and all those other bands are playing Pitchfork. I get it now.

My issue is mostly that they are being huge dicks about the fact that their festival is better than all the other festivals. It feels more like an add for a competeing car company, or a mudslinging ad from a politician than a concert advert.

That said, it is Pitchfork, so what do you expect. There are some awesome bands playing, and if I wasn't doing bonnaroo this year, I'd go for sure.

Who really cares what they say about the festival? I mean I'm going because I love the music, pitchfork could advertise it in any way they wanted to it's not going to stop me from enjoying myself.

Anyways, two of my friends and I bought tickets the day they went on sale. We're gonna be making the trek out from NJ, a 13-hour-ish drive executed in one fell swoop, but we're friggin' pumped. I practically creamed myself when I saw Man Man was playing. Nonetheless, do we have any ideas as to who else will play? Sufjan HAS to play, given the location and PF's love of all things Stevens, and I feel like CYHSY will too, but I'd really like to see some Black Mountain, some Wolf Parade, and some Fiery Furnaces. Let's see some predictions.

Yeah after listening to some Man Man, there is NO WAY I'm missing that performance. I think they would have announced Sufjan by now as big as he is right now. Still, we can always hope.

True, though I feel like they aren't announcing in any particular order. I mean, Yo La Tengo and Spoon — both relatively big acts — were announced in the second round, so I dunno.

I think that CHSY is to maybe... I don't know last year kind of thing, I mean most of the artists tend to be up and coming acts, or indie standbys you know? I wouldn't be that suprised if Sufjan played though he may be too big, though I'm predicting Black Mountain for sure and maybe Fiery Furnaces. There also needs to be some electronic stuff so I'm guesing Vitalic and they need at least 1 more hip-hop act (to balance things out) so maybe MF Doom? I would be so happy.

The Furnaces were slated to play Intonation last year, but for some unknown reason they dropped out. I remember seeing them listed on the website once they announced the bands.

does anyone here besides me think that pitchfork does bad reviews? like, they've had some that i kind of agree with, but

you can read the last paragraph of most pitchfork reviews and get a good idea of what they think about the album.

on the subject of the festival though, i'm in new york, so i guess i'm glad i don't see any names that i really like.
