As in who is the band, or the person who made the thread? Either way, you're better off not really knowing.

I appreciate Iowa because it showed a much greater attention to try and direct the music a little better.

Debut was just an explosion of sound, Iowa was much more focused and tighter, even if they took a pretty big hit lyrically, some of those choruses just sounded silly.

I never got the 3rd, though I have heard good things.

Slipknot had their moment in the sun and they will return to the relative underground away from the mainstream media.

They're a guilty pleasure of mine, sometimes you just need to turn the brain off and scream along with something.  But Jordison is a beast on those drums, Root is pretty talented as well.

The music annoys me, but the fans shit me even more.
When I do occasionally watch V (a cable music channel) and they're playing something decent, theres always some fuckwit going "It's shit ply SlipKnOt Dey Fkn Rule, Fk this GaY cnt I'm Hardcore! COCKS!"

So yeah, the fans are the worst part about slipknot, disturbed and most other "hardcore metal" bands.

Cocks.

Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat

Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat must rank as one of the most promising debuts by a pants band. The original idea of Slipknot was all well and good: they were supposed to be a small venue band (the only place where their extra percussionists would be of ANY use) with an outrageous stageshow, where each member would bring in influences. Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat is the only album that shows any elements of this, really. I think it was mainly money and Corey Taylors ego that ruined that party. Taken a different direction, they might not have been that bad. Certainly, if I was forced to listen to nu-metal, I would probably pick them. Maybe that's how they look at themselves in the mirror each day.

I'm sorry, this annoys the fuck out of me. Slipknot are not radio-rock.

They may not be credible, they may not be any good, they may not be original, and they may not be as heavy as some of the metal that oh-so-good-metal-fans listen to (not aimed at you specifically, BTW) but they are still fucking brutal, and where I come from they don't get played on the goddamned radio.

The Radio 1 hard rock show did TWO WEEKS on extreme metal: Swedish Death week and Norwegian Black week. The Norwegian black week included all the brilliance you would expect: drunken interviews with various black metallers, awesome music, and, best of all, they dug up Turbonegro and asked them to record a 'guide to Norway'. Which was insanely funny.

I am definitely one of the least metal people of ever..but I do know me what is good metal (Opeth,Bloodbath,Cannibal Corpse,Slumber,Dream Theatre,etc...) and what is milder to me..I admit that Slipknot can be rather heavier at moments (many of the songs of such a manner are actually the ones that I dislike..) but recently, they have been played on the Florida airwaves quite a bit.

The QOTSA members were no where near considering the thought that maybe someday they might think about considering starting a band when I was 14. Then again, there was no Slipknot either. I had to listen to things like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, ewww gross right? Yeah fuck you all.

Slipknot.

What strikes me most is this whole 'people=shit' thing. And the 12 year olds that wear those shirts. The only reasonable reaction is smacking them and explaining to them that all this screaming at society is brought to them by that society they hate and is making that society very rich indeed.

Don稚 worry; it's just primary socialization taking its toll on impressionable youth who are angst ridden by the imposed internalization of common societal norms and values. It'll pass.

Theatre of Tragedy rule!

Well, up until that highly mysterious cataclysm in the late 90's where every good goth metal band in the world bizarrely changed into appalingly derivative goth rock or synthpop. That one got so many good bands: Theatre of Tragedy, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Moonspell...Even My Dying Bride was momentarily morphed into a fucking bizarre progressive Swans rip-off, and has never been quite the same since.
