Panel 1) Of course Marigold would be organizing a tabletop game of some description (I can't really identify it)
Maybe she did try but everyone else had just eaten. You're talking about Tai, aren't you? For a minute, I thought Marigold's werewolf had eaten everyone...
The fact that Friday comics will no longer divide evenly by 5 disturbs me more than it should...Don't worry, it makes me feel a bit twitchy as well.
Drunk bubbles and flushed! Think they were playing "truth or dare"?
So raise your hand if you're surprised Jeph gave Emily a haircut.

It's the werewolf variation of Mafia. The game would start with more than one werewolf, and then the townspeople hunt to find them before they are all killed.

Skinny dipping can be fun with two people, if it is the right two people. If it is the woman you are involved with/interested in, it can be VERY fun. Tai is doing it wrong.
Is it wrong that I think Emily looks better with short hair in that style?I also think she looks better... :P

Which is what I was thinking. Of everyone there, wouldn't Tai have gotten Dora to go swimming.

F*ck yeah! Welcome back, Jeph.
What's Faye drinking to make this sound good to her?
And the flushing thing? Yeah, it is real... :oops:Is this applicable to non-Asians? Because I get really flushed. Especially the one time I let myself try sake. I have Cherokee heritage, which supposedly means that my ancestors immigrated from Asia many, many, many years ago, right? Does that have anything to do with it, possibly? Or am I just a weird white girl who overheats? I get really warm when I drink. Which is fairly rare. (Because it doesn't taste good to me, I'm on an antidepressant, and alcoholism also runs in my family. Gotta be careful.)
It's well established that Faye gets friendlier when she drinks.
Plenty of opportunity for backstory and character development if they do it onscreen!

The sad or happy kind? Can't it be both?

It's well established that Faye gets friendlier when she drinks. It's well established that Tai gets even friendlier. And has low tolerance. I wonder if she'll be playing.

Hmm... so Faye still drinks socially.
She seems to have found a middle ground between abstinence and binging. It's an unusually healthy outcome after alcohol abuse.
Doppelgänger implies that one of us is evil, I think? Are you evil? I'm pretty sure I'm not...And the flushing thing? Yeah, it is real...[....] I get really warm when I drink. Are.....are you my doppelgänger? Or are there a lot of girls who get warm when they drink, but don't like the way alcohol tastes, and take antidepressants, and have a family history of alcoholism? If the latter, I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE!
Am I the only one who is secretly hoping that we'll get some backstory on Gabby at some point during this whole party thing? That whole skinny-dipping-with-Tai thing yesterday was totally out of left field, given that we haven't seen as much from her since a few strips after the interns came into the story. As much as I love Emily being adorably weird and the bizarre dynamic Claire has with Clinton, I'm curious now.
Okay, nevermind, she's passed out drunk

Now for the masked stranger to rise up out of the water and silently stalk everyone at the party, killing them in mildly gruesome ways, leaving Hanners as the final girl!Hanners disagrees http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1104
Hmm, seems Indie-Boy tm should probably be careful, or he might end up with a headbutt to the groin and vomit on his lap....again.

Hanners ... has a high probability of being the virtuous Final Girl - or the killer.
Gah, my archive-fu is very weak at this time of night.
[ ... ]With all the short-hair haters about in this forum, I would refrain from saying out loud that I was the one that did it.
At any rate, I really did Emily's new hair style. Fits her perfectly.
She's either super nice to anyone when drunk or just to persons to her left or to Marten in particular... hhhmmmm...
I haven't really been much for this strip ever since Marten and Dora split up, but I check back every now and again.
Maybe I'm getting old and cranky, but I find it odd that a bunch of folks in their mid-to-late 20's (Marten has to be at least 25 by now, right?) would find it at all appropriate to go hang out and get hammered at one of their undergraduate interns' lake houses. But this is QC, so there probably won't be any real ramifications for any of them, other than Dora and Tai getting it on in a closet somewhere.
Took me a minute to realize Emily cut off her ponytail. The first time I looked at it, I thought she had some sort of giant weird bottle or something, so it was really distracting when I thought her hair changed for no reason, until I re-read the last few. It would have been funnier if Penelope were called out as "next," though (where'd she go, anyway?).

The rest of the gang's reaction to Marigold. 12 (24%) <== Honestly, I'm not sure we'll actually see this.

@Comic:
She's either super nice to anyone when drunk or just to persons to her left or to Marten in particular... hhhmmmm...
I'm pretty sure Tai's an undergrad, but that's never been stated either way in the comic. She's probably twenty-one or so, though. And yeah, probably "friend". Or more accurately, "twoo fwiend".
She could be in a joint BA/MLIS program, which would probably take five or six years. When we first met her she was probably in her third year or so. Either way, she's almost certainly an undergrad in her early twenties.
Tai is trickier. Her youth is often referred to, but never enumerated. Having said that, she's a TA (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=777), but speaks of her liberal arts degree (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=728) in the future tense. Those of you familiar with American colleges can probably use that to pin her down, huh?Tai's youth isn't referred to, so much as her size. That reference to her degree is very dubious evidence. She could just as easily be referring to the usefulness in her future life of a liberal arts degree she has already been awarded, or to a Master's she's working on following a Bachelor's in something else. I am not familiar with how colleges in the USA work, but I would be very surprised of they're employing an undergraduate to teach, run their library, hire staff (Marten), and supervise interns.[/i] I'm pretty sure an Australian uni would not do so. I'm thinking mid-twenties at least.
Tai's early discussions of her romantic entanglements refer to "drama on [her] dorm floor" (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=726).Just from experience... if any of you ever end up at the University of Oklahoma, and they tell you that they have a "graduate student only" building in their on-campus apartments, do not believe them. It is all lies. My roommate and I are literally the only graduate students in this building. Everyone else is an undergrad who likes to party very loudly every night. On the other hand, I learned that they recently stopped advertising the apartments as a "graduate student community." Found out when a visiting professor made fun of their website for referring to it as an "upperclass community," not realizing it means juniors/seniors, not upper-class/rich people.
Though some colleges do have a designated dorm for grad students (hell, I live in one right now), they tend to feel more like silent study-bubbles than the kind of place where you'd find that sort of drama. Given the previously referenced future-tense degree, it seems far more likely that she's referring to an undergrad dorm, thus further implying that she's probably in her early 20s. And it's becoming more common for undergrads to have TA-variety positions at schools, so that in of itself doesn't make it implausible. Jus'sayin'.
On Marten, for tradition, or on someone else, for variety?
They've talked about it before (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=716).Wow, I'm not sure it's the longest shot of a callback joke in QC, but I'm fairly sure it's in the top five.
What's Faye thinking to make this sound good to her?
Just seeing everyone try to say something nice when drunk?
"I...I lovvvve you, maaaaaannnn..."
That just made me think - what if Steve is actually Marten's BROTHER - but no one actually realizes it?
Steve and Marten being related would make the incident refered to here (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1639) a little more awkward for most...
Was there something about Marten not having any brothers?
I must have thought so when I put that in the wiki, but there's no citation.

...MAN it's weird how healthy Marten looked back then. °O
So am I the only one -- yes? well, anyway -- wondering who said what about Hanners, who's on Clinton's left.Gabby's the only one whose skin is that dark, so it's definitely her. I was more wondering what he might have told about her, since he doesn't know her.
He's wering a heavyweight winter hoodie.
The only way it could be would be if Tao were to have a relationship with one of the interns. The Tao that is named is not the true Tao.
CLINTON: Gabby's hair looks nic --I swear, before I lost attention, that was the only remark I could imagine from Clinton.
GABBY: It's the HUMIDITY.
Also I can't tell whether Claire or Marten is talking in panel 4...
And the question remains, will Faye ever start drinking in moderation?
(quiet cough)I'm guessing the only shipping permitted is to Tuckahoe, NJ (or as far as funding would allow...), yes?
It is clear that everyone is just having fun, but there is a recent clump of new members who should not be given the idea that shipping and portmanteau names are an accepted part of the game here.
And the question remains, will Faye ever start drinking in moderation?Well, she's not actually holding a bottle in the last panel, so that counts as "moderation" on her behalf.
Totally read "FayMar" as Faye/Marbear :psyduck:
Isn't the specific challenge to "say something nice," even if you don't know anything to "tell" about a person? It's a bit of a challenge, but you could at least come up with something superficial, e.g.
CLINTON: Gabby's hair looks nic --
GABBY: It's the HUMIDITY.
(quiet cough)

Farten.seriously.
I didn't know sitting out on a jetty was romantic. Someone amuse me on this please? The swash of water (or the rote of sea), the peaceful night, the starlit sky, maybe the sunset or the moon, and the soft coolness that may rise from the water, making the prospect of getting closer all the more appealing?
So, what as Claire about to say?
"I'm...
...really sorry about my brother"?
...really one of your friends now?"
...impressed at how you can put up with damn near anything"?
Maybe this is poll fodder - any other suggestions? You! Keep it clean, and wipe that smirk off your face!
I wonder how much more obnoxious Faye would be if someone accidentally punted her into the lake at this point......
Also where the heck is Gabby!?

I think she was going to say, "I'm kinda jealous." The whole vibe of the conversation was of someone who isn't used to being around so many fun loving people and being accepted like a true friend. I think that's the reason Claire decided to step outside and get some air and would explain what she is talking to Marten about. Of course, here comes Faye and Angus getting ready to have sloppy kisses cutting Claire off. Gotta love it. Also where the heck is Gabby!?
I would think you'd have fun banning somebody who takes something likeFarten.seriously.
Sounds satisfying, no? :-D
I'm curious if Claire just doesn't drink. Nothing wrong with it if she doesn't, with her work hard mentality though I could see how she wouldn't. Also, she is the only person I've seen without bubbles.
Indeed right, my friend. Just having a laugh, all in good sport...but I maintain that I shan't be shipping any portmanteaus around the place. :police:
I wonder how much more obnoxious Faye would be if someone accidentally punted her into the lake at this point......We need to find out. She's practically demanding a dunking, and it would be rude of Marten and Claire not to do so.
There were a few bubbles around her head yesterday.
Marten's speech balloon in panel 4 is *really* badly placed. Rule 1 of lettering - don't put the tail so someone else's face is between it and the speaker! So it is. When I saw it I thought it was Claire saying that.
I don't see how. Marten's mouth is open.

I totally thought Marten and Claire would make out, but that would have been too damn predictable.. #notshipping #justsaying

Either way, it does sound like Claire is another "stray" being adopted. How many of members of the QC crew actually had friends (as in people above acquaintance level) before we met them?
That's why the main cast is the main castNot really, who is main and supporting changes over time, with the exception of Marten and Faye.
New friend to Marten. Even before the boob flash (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=108)...

Marten had Steve, but we've never been able to figure out where he met him.
Steve didn't have any friends, nor did Faye (having just moved into the area). Sara was a co-worker, Dora was her boss (and Dora apparently didn't have any friends)...
Y'know, I think you might be on to something there.
EDIT: I thought a second time about Dora - she did have a "friendship" with Raven, but it was pretty much the "I really don't want to be around you and 'your friends' anymore" type of friendship when we first met our Blodwyn.
Luna was essentially Cosette's roommate, which may or may not have turned into a friendship because of that. Same with Ellen and Nat.

If Angus goes in too... well, he's an accessory to rudeness, he should share the punishment.

(Also, did we ever see any of them other than Raven?)
New friend to Marten. Even before the boob flash (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=108)...Too tired to contribute something useful, but I happened to read the newspost below that strip just a moment ago:
Will we ever find out what the tattoo is? I can't rule out the possibility, but I am pretty certain this is the most risque QC is ever going to get.Oops.
The USA is far bigger too - didn't most of the cast move a huge distance to get to the CoD town?Marten (CA-MA), and Faye (GA-MA) have moved a fair distance (certainly huge by UK standards...). Dora and Sven are local I think. The rest of the cast... I don't know. Padma's family were in CA too, weren't they?
(Also, did we ever see any of them other than Raven?)
There was Claire, not the current Claire, but the one Dora called in to check whether Cosette was cursed.
