Let's see...
24 lb turkey, stuffed
(extra pan of stuffing)
18 lbs mashed taters
5 lbs brandy-candied yams
4 lbs green beans almondine
2 cans cranberry sauce (one jellied, one whole-berry)
2 pumpkin pies
2 pecan pies
1 cherry pie
1 apple pie
Just pulled the last pies out of the oven, the rest gets done tomorrow. Me, my wife, our two daughters, a neighbor and her teen daughter, an old friend with her two teen boys, an older friend and her mother, and a newer friend with her pre-teen boy and girl... that's 14 for dinner. And I'm the only adult male.
What am I really thankful for? Both my daughters are still alive, despite one being held at gunpoint in her dorm nearly two years ago, and the other suffering from a rare neurological side effect of cancer for just over a year.
I'm thankful for two jobs that almost make up for the job I lost last year.
I'm thankful for obamacare that lets my one daughter stay on my insurance even though she's no longer in school (she can't really cope with going back). I'm thankful for the Mayo Clinic, at least since they've agreed to see my other daughter.
And I know this is corny, but I really am thankful for you guys. And not just the dickbrooms, or the GOM, but all of you, even the assholes. With two jobs and a family, my social life is pretty much non-existant. If it weren't for this comic and forum, I would've lost it a long time ago. I'm thankful for Jeph, too, for bringing real people together through his imaginary ones.
Thanks, everyone.
