How about a doom metal Ramones tribute? Think of the horrifying possibilities!

WeedEater-Beat On the Brat
Bongzilla-Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue
Electric Wizard-Questioningly
Crowbar-Pinhead
EyeHateGod-53rd and 3rd
Abdullah-Rockaway Beach
16-Teenage Lobotomy
Dozer-Cretin Hop
Crisis-Loudmouth
Fleshpress-Chainsaw
Golgotha-Judy Is A Punk
Candlemass-Do You Remember Rock 'n Roll Radio?
Khanate-Listen to My Heart
My Shameful-Blitzkrieg Bop

Sadly, it wouldn't be much worse than Rob Zombie's tribute.

OH WAIT THIS IS NOT THE BEST TRIBUTE IDEA EVER THREAD.

I think my avatar sums up everything I could say about this.

As for the worst tribute album ever: Dolly Parton Presents: Krieg Snowfields of the Nordic Wastelands.

Well, the problem there is that most Ramones songs have maybe three lines worth of lyrics, and doom metal songs can be anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. But I'd still buy it anyway, because again, it wouldn't be any worse than Zombie's tribute.

Just for making me think about that. Also I am kinda sad that you put The Fall Of Troy on a tribute to Fugazi and thought it would be a bad thing. It would only be a bad thng if.. yknow... he still tried to sing.

A Tribute To Mr. Bungle

(1) Dog Fashion Disco - Quote Unquote (Travolta)
(2) Linkin Park - The Air-Conditioned Nightmare
(3) Mudvayne - Phlegmatics
(4) KORN - My Ass Is On Fire
(5) Less Than Jake - Carousel
(6) Crystal Method - Backstrockin'
(7) Mindless Self Indulgence - Goodbye Sober Day
(8) Disturbed - None Of Them Knew They Were Robots
(9) Insane Clown Posse - Squeeze Me Macaroni
(10) Slipknot - Love Is A Fist
(11) System Of A Down - Ars Moriendi
(12) Evanescense - Vanity Fair
(13) Static X - Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz
(14) Weird Al Yanovich - Merry Go Bye-Bye

Now I'm going to vomit forever.

And then I'm gonna do the exact same tracklist but with the bands that should be doing those songs.

[edit] almost forgot the coup de grace, 14.

Actually that was my first idea for Mudvayne, and then I thought I didn't have enough Disco Volante.

Here is the right bands doing the same songs in the same order.

(1) Primus {OR} C.C.B.of.B.B. - Quote Unquote (Travolta)
(2) Kaada - The Air-Conditioned Nightmare
(3) Behold... The Arctopus - Phlegmatics
(4) Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - My Ass Is On Fire
(5) Mephiskapheles - Carousel
(6) The Residents - Backstrockin'
(7) Tin Hat Trio (with Carla Kihlstdt singing) - Goodbye Sober Day
(8) Nekromantix - None Of Them Knew They Were Robots
(9) MF Doom - Squeeze Me Macaroni
(10) Tomahawk - Love Is A Fist
(11) Estradasphere - Ars Moriendi
(12) Inkubus Sukkubus - Vanity Fair
(13) The Flying Luttenbachers (w/Tom Waits) - Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz
(14) Mike Patton, Buckethead, Kid606, Colin Marston, Dave Lombardo - Merry Go Bye-Bye

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Nekromantix would make that song work. Their versions of Dead Bodies, Light My Fire, Mama Won't Allow, and Bela Lugosi's Dead are great.

That tribute idea is pretty cool, but it loses for not exploiting the opportunity to have Crotchduster cover a Mr. Bungle song. Because, even though I'm lukewarm on the Bungle, that would slay. A parody of a fucking circus metal band. Fuck me, something would implode, I'm sure.

Probably Kai's head.

Also, Nekromantix covered Bela Lugosi's Dead? WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED!?

I'm not going to do any tracklists, because I can't be bothered thinking of bands I dislike, but how about:

The pop-punk tribute to New Model Army (For maximum ghastliness, Blink-182 would reform just to cover 'Vengeance', which would be right next to Good Charlotte's upbeat take on 'Drag it Down')

Or perhaps even worse, the pop-punk tribute to The Anti-Nowhere League, with all the swearing completely censored down to things like 'damn' in order to tap the 12 year old market.

Also:

The Ska tribute to KoRn
The String Quartet tribute to Apocalyptica
The Dub tribute to Coldplay (probably prescribable to insomniacs)
The current British indie scene's tribute to itself (mistaken by many as the new Franz Ferdinand album)
The Dutch Goregrind tribute to the Spice Girls (no, wait, sorry, move that one onto the AWESOME pile)
The jug-band tribute to Bauhaus

I'd just be really interested to see Hilary Duff cover At the Drive-in - Invalid Letter Dept.  I'm sure if she tried her head would explode.. it's a win-win situation. But then again if I saw it on TV i would probably punch myself into unconciousness.  Hilary Duff singing relevant, scary, and painful lyrics. What would the world be coming to?

I'd just be really interested to see Hilary Duff cover At the Drive-in - Invalid Letter Dept.  I'm sure if she tried her head would explode.. it's a win-win situation. But then again if I saw it on TV i would probably punch myself into unconciousness.  Hilary Duff singing relevant, scary, and painful lyrics. What would the world be coming to?

I think the world would end, however she would have to cover something other than At the Drive-in.

I jsut had this idea of her trying to sing Cattle Decapitation songs. That would be pretty amazing.

"Home laboratory turned mortuary
Experimental transplants and surgery
Using bleach and corrosives to make zombies
Gaping cranium sutured with epoxy
Homemade walking dead!"

Yeah.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Sigur Ros covering Tool. You'd die of old age before track four starts

Not for us Green Day and Weezer fans, mate. (well the ones who'll admit to liking Green Day nowadays)

Dude,  a bluegrass tribute to Coheed and Cambria is like "Prostate Cancer's tribute to AIDS".
