The Beatles - Michelle

I always find that the Beatles' songs with unusual arrangements are the best, another one is Eleanor Rigby.

I am pretty much always on a huge Black Sabbath binge. Except for right now. Right now it's a Cure binge. Cheesy goth rock FTW

Strawbs - The Hangman and the Papist (Unreleased Version)

This is definitely the best new thing I got off Looking For Europe, aside from maybe 'The Ride' by Der Bluthsarch. This guys voice is...brilliant.

God damn I love The New Pornographers. I have been listening to them almost all day. I would have to say that Electric Version is one of the best cds I have ever heard.

Alright! Right-on (if scarily coincidential) dopplegangerish thinking is rather good. :)
Actually, listening to Electric Version again made me come up with what I see to be the only real flaw with their latest, Twin Cinema: not nearly enough Dan Bejar.

Kokomo blues by Mississippi Fred McDowell.
It's some great old bluegrass influenced blues. Now Doc watson just came on. It's very redneck in here.

Gåte - Bruremarsj frå Jämtland

Their awesome singer doesn't really do anything except hum quietly and loudly without any of the usual old norwegian that no-one understands.
Take the title of this song. The only thing I know is that "Bruremarsj" whatever or whoever that is, comes from Jämtland, which is an area in Norway.

People, more discussing, for sakes!!

I want to present to you internets, The Mermen, a progressive surf band. They are basically the only thing I have listened to today. They play 2 types of songs: Atmospheric-surf-jams with short bursts of guitar attacks and Rock-the-fuck-out noise-surf-jams with endless guitar attacks.

Atmospheric: "With No Definite Future And No Purpose Other Than To Prevail Somehow..."

Noise: "Blue Xoam"

I am declaring This Godless Endeavor my favorite album of 2005 about 4 months after people stopped writing their favorite albums of 2005 lists. It's got amazing riffs, great leads, and lyrics that fit the bleak yet raging tone perfectly.

I still haven't fucking got any of this.

Sabbat - Horned is the Hunter

Absolute fucking brilliance. From the atmospheric intro to the succession of crushing riffs and classic Walkyier verbiage, just perfection.

"Alone he sits -
a vanquished Lord upon an oaken throne,
presiding o'er this conflict
that chills him to the bone,
for each tarnished blade that festers
is a thorn thrust in his side,
and His pain alone bears witness
to the folly of mankind.

What hope for a king with no kingdom to rule?
now his children desert him -
regard him a fool,
and are bonded to progress -
the plough and the scythe -
that lay waste and leave barren
what beauty survives
though legends of power and glory suffice -
for these 'latter-day-heroes'
who live out their lives,
chained by conformity shackled by greed -
and told to believe they don't want to be freed."

Currently, I'm just finishing up an advance of Frontline Assembly's new album, Artificial Soldier.  It's amazing.  Best album they've made since Implode.  Super aggressive and really dense, after the disappointingly Delerium-esque Civilization.  And, And!  They've got guest vocals from Jean-Luc De Meyer of F242 and Eskil Simonsson from Covenant.

Okay, and on the switch now, the Modcom remix of VNV Nation's Chrome.  Excellent remix, maybe my favourite, though the Bolloxed mix is better than the LP version as well.
