He said the new sound was the product of a number of wide ranging influences, from Al Green and Marvin Gaye to The Beatles and The Eagles. About the first single 'SexyBack', Timberlake said:

"The best way I can describe that song is say David Bowie and David Byrne decided to do a cover of James Brown's Sex Machine."

Excuse me? Having JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE cite David Bowie and David Byrne (AND THE FRICKEN BEATLES) to describe his new sound is DOWNRIGHT painful. God. Now I just hate the guy more.

Does he think he's a fricken musical revolutionary genius? Cause he's not. And if you've heard the new single, which I listened to a clip of to see if his claims had ANY basis...it's terrible.

Timberlake = Douchebag.

(For reference, AFX claims to have no musical influences and CYHSY still (afaik) haven't admitted in any interview that the Talking Heads were an influence.)

Any and everything Justin Timberlake releases unto the marketplace should be illegal according to the geneva convention. Boring people to death is a crime too.

Aw man. It's Justin Timberlake guys. He can sing pretty well, and one or two of his songs are kinda catchy and good to dance to. So it might not be your thing. Whaddaya want? There are more important things to worry about.

And David Bowie, David Byrne and the Beatles are some of the most well known pop artists of all time. Of course he's going to be influenced by them. Don't be so boringly high and mighty.

Get the fuck over it. Justified was a fantastically written pop album that even showed some prog-y self-indulgence in certain places. It's a great record. If the new one's any good, more power to the guy (except for the fact that it's taken him four years).

Okay, I caught that. Witty reference aside, I like the guy. He's got a knack for funky songs that bring me close to ladies in dance settings and this is an inarguably good thing. Plus, I just basically think he has an ear for a pop hook.

He did this three years ago when he compared the vocals on one song to Thom Yorke and Hope Sandoval.

And yeah, don't get all high and mighty, "Cry Me a River" was better than most indie songs released the same year.

Another Timbaland-produced Justin Timberlake album is just what mainstream pop needs.

The guy from Backstreet Sync, or was it N'Boys?

The guy who is the incarnation of MJ if he was whi-

Well, you know what I mean.  And I don't mean the good MJ from Thriller either.  I mean the Bad MJ.

His music makes me want to vomit, it's about as deep as a puddle in June.

The Justified album cover was a timely and searing indigtment of the Iraq War. Timberlake, standing in a desert (Iraq, perhaps?), gazes at us, questioning, pondering: "Was this war Justified?"

Will his new album cover be as audatious?

But Cry Me A River did go on for a bit long... got a bit grating.  Like most of the songs off of DramaGod's album.  Any of you cats listen to that?

You know? I've never actually listened to any Aaron Carter song other than the one on that Pokémon soundtrack (c'mon, don't act like I'm the only guy here who owns that)... Always been so pissy that people always made a big deal about me sharin' his name (that pun was awesome) that I've just never brought myself to listening to him.

I'm not questioning his friends, I'm questioning his ability to actually be a talent. He's got a great voice, but that doesn't mean the stuff he performs is great. I'll be the first to admit that I hate the genre of music he performs in (I can't call it R&B because I can't remember the last time I heard modern R&B actually sound like it had blues in it.), but there are so many better performers in the genre than him.

Omigod, y'all, the new single? Is ass. There's no melody, and his voice sounds all warped for some reason. The only vocals I recognized were Timbaland's, and speaking of which, who the fuck told Timbaland he should come out from behind the mixing board and step up to the mic? That Aaliyah single was one thing, but now he's frickin' everywhere.

I give it two thumbs down, but maybe it'll grow on me. I used to think "Promiscuous" wasn't all that and now I listen to it 24/7.

I don't remember the part where I raped your dog. Please explain to me when this happened so I can rectify it. I said I don't hear much of the blues inspiration in much popular R&B these days. I did not call you a twat. So, please calm down before replying next time. K?

I have taken classes on jazz history. I am Ken Burns' bitch. When I define rythem and blues, I define it just as that.
