Fuck inauthenticity. Iron Maiden have probably sold more albums over their career than this guy.

It's just shallow vapid shit for 13 year old girls. It could have been recorded on a twenty quid karaoke machine in his mums basement and distributed on a cassette-only label run by a commune of anarcho-syndicalist lesbian freedom fighters who only advertise through culture-jamming graffiti and personal endorsements from Sub-Comandante Marcos and it would still be shallow vapid shit for 13 year old girls.

13 year olds? Thats like way older then what some of my fave songs sound like. 'I Think That We Are Gonna Be Friends' stops being applicable past like 9 years old

Who cares if its shallow vapid shit as long as its GOOD shallow vapid shit?

If you had an interest in real dance music...You'd know Foggy, Outfly, Ferry Corsten, 4 Strings, Armin Can Buuren, Iio, DJ Micro, Motorcycle, Kate Ryan, Lazard, Lost Tribe, Metric, Kira, KMC, Pepe, Divine Inspiration.

Mainstream or obscure, easy-to-find or rare and expensive, mutt or pure-bred, dog poop is still dog poop.

Its really funny that you say that right after listing a bunch of completely unknown acts and telling us that these acts are "real" dance music- which of course implitly attacks the authenticity of our preferences. The first statement completely undermines the first.

Khar: Seriously, if it will only take a half hour give us a track. If you really think you could be substituted for Timbaland and no one would notice... by all means demonstrate this skill.

I'll admit the song is wearing thin pretty quick. Certainly no "Promiscuous Girl" or "Since You've Been Gone". Still, mainstream pop/hip-hop is in a much better place than mainstream rock.

I read a GREAT article written as if it was from a world where punk was mainstream and heavy metal was underground. It reversed all the usual critcal cliches, and even had stuff like, um, Def Leppard instead of The Replacements getting their song covered for That 70's Show

Uh, since when has metal been mainstream?

Unless you're talking about HAIR metal, which is a completely different animal and calling that metal in some company would get you brutally stabbed.

And they'd probably fuck your corpse.

I agree with whoever was saying that music can be incredibly non-complex, and still be fun and pleasant to some peoples ears.
Justin Timberlake is a MAINSTREAM POP ARTIST.  more often than not, atleast in my experience in the last decade or so that i actually listened (which admittedly has not been enough in the last 2 years) mainstream pop meant to appeal to a huge group of people isn't mean to be/doesn't need to be exclusive.  Theyre trying to make music that the widest range of people can get into.  A large portion of the forumgoers here are into a much smaller niche of music, and the music made here caters to you.  The music made by/made for Mr Timberlake reflects the audience he's trying to appeal to, and it does a good job at getting them and more.
some people like the pop genre of music, as well as others.
Not everyone needs a pi/7 time signature, 20 layers, 80 different chords to enjoy a song.

Wait wait, people buy this music? I thought we were talking about stealing it off the internet and listening to it on the radio. I can't understand why anyone would pay money for this- and I think we can all agree with that.

I generally find myself stabbing myself in the ears too much to dance.

Seriously, how can you even stand his voice? It's bearly barable in the new single with all that distortion on it. Also, where are the 'wicked beats' or whatever? I, you, or anyone could do the drums and bassline to that in Fruityloops in about half an hour, counting render time. It's commercial shite. Even dancing to it at a shite club validates its shite existence.

'nuff said
