BET.com would be Black Entertainment Television. And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Kelis has been asked the question in multiple interviews.

Well is that a respectable news source?

And that is like, the EXACT same wording as the one I had. Maybe she just had a practised answer.

What is up with the anit- Spice Girls posts? Haven't you seen their movie? They're like, THE shit.

I'm going to go with Hot Action Cop's "Fever for the Flava". That is the worst song I have EVER HEARD.

My friend says "Loving you" by Minnie Ripperton, though.

Is there one song EVERYONE hates, though? Can there be? I don't think so.

EDIT: OMG. "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry. I listened to that the other night on repeat when my friend crashed at my house. She's horrible.

Someone told me that Kelis' milkshake song was about "how a girl carries herself" or something. I much prefer to imagine it is literally about a milkshake.

That My Humps song really is an abortion.

I think the worst one would be one of many annoying local bands with kids who try to be Greenday and are really about as political as a turnip.

My theory with the milkshake song is that she doesn’t have a fucking clue what it means and she’s singing it because it kind of sounds dirty in a strange sort of way. But now that journalists are asking her about it in interviews she needs to make up ridiculously vague explanations so she doesn’t sound like a clueless tool.

Ok so it's not exactly the WORST song ever, but it has a special place in the dank pits of the part of my brain labeled "WHY JESUS, WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO???"

Hand's Open-Snow Patrol

It is the blandiest song I know. The potatoe of rock music.

Potatoes can be extremely flavourful if prepared right, and unrooted at just the right time of the year.

In this case, a remix should work.

I think a lot of Celine Dion's discography merits strong consideration for inclusion on this list, but of course the archetypal Dion disaster is "My Heart Will Go On."  It does have a certain a certain campy charm, but it also has lyrical gems lifted right out of a game of hide and seek ("near, far, wherever you are"), that ridiculous vocal hitch which makes it sound like she's singing "I believe thatch the heart does go on." I feel like retching every time she "soars" for that operatic high note after the cheesy key change:  if you check the actual note on a piano, its not that high for a tenor, much less an alto or soprano.

I don't know, "Barbie Girl" definitely makes it onto my "so deliciously, intentionally bad, its good" list.

Also, am I the only one who thinks "Barbie Girl" would have fit nicely between  "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back In Anger"?

I feel country is afflicted, like rap, in that most of what you hear will sound exactly the damn same because it sells and those who do something interesting don't tend to get noticed as much. I've heard plenty of the kind of country your describing, but there is plenty of country music which is great. And there is of course, one particular alt-country band who went bullshit wacko.

Country is based on a very specific sound and set of instruments. What little wiggle room there is comes in the form of good songwriting, so you're probably just listening to the wrong country. Yes, a lot of it sounds the same and it can get tiresome after a while, but you could say the same thing about punk. Or any genre, for that matter.

Yeah, it's a stock character from French melodrama (Pierrot) who is all about being spooky and moon mad.  Like Dora, I guess, I'm a recovering goth (hey, high school was a strange time).

I'm kinda please that you even noticed, since your avatar has a fair amount of shock value as well. . .

I make a point of avoiding crap on the radio because of that. Although I will willingly sit and watch Eurovison because it's absolutely hysterical. Kinda double standards, but at least the songs in Eurovison don't make me want to rip people's faces off.
