Clearly, you don't understand my situation.  My neighbor got caught when his parents got a home drug test.  However, he's started smoking again.  The other day he came over to my house and told me his parents were threatening him with another drug test.  I managed to get him to pay me six bucks for a cup full of my piss.  I've got quite a racket going now.  Gotta stay clean.

Plus, being high was boring the last few times I did it.

I want someone to quote that and put it in their signature.

Ewigkeit - The Thought Police

hey! this is pretty cool. i don't really know what's going on in metal very much (aside from a slight drone fetish: sunn O))), earth, etc. and i have a thing for silly slayer remixes), but this seemed to rock out pretty well. the genre being "Dance Metal" seemed pretty apt.

rockin, if tacky synth after the break in the middle. just wish there was more of it. catchy, fairly accessible: i could imagine playing it at a party. i reckon maybe 7.5 out of 10, since it's not quite an 8, but 7 is kind of an average mark for me.

so, on we go:

Boredoms -- Super Going.

This is the longest song off Super ae, but it's also my favourite.

I don't think you could really take anything about what's happening in metal from Ewigkeit. It's basically just one guy rocking out in a basement studio with minimal outside influences (According to legend, he gave his entire music collection away to Oxfam a few years back in order to better do something original). Conspiritus is the latest evolution of his music (Ewigkeit began as Black Metal) and it's far more 'normal' than his previous album, Radio Ixtlan (which I consider to be one of the greatest albums of all time). His albums are all pretty 'far out' though. I mean, this one's a concept album about the New World Order. It's actually sold on David Icke's website.

Boredoms- Super Going

This is good, but damn, is it long.  It's actually hypnotic.  Oooh, about 8:40 in it gets really interesting.  I like this. 8/10

Sonic Youth - Theresa's Sound World

This is one bipolar track right here. Starts off very dark and foreboding - you can tell the track is eventually going to explode (as it does for the first time around the 1:45 mark) and the buildup is masterfully executed. Goes from melancholy and hungover-sounding to a whirl of guitar and back without missing a beat. The noodly ascending solo sounds very Pearl Jam for some reason, and that's not a comparison that does any band a disservice.

What CD is this from? I heard a couple back in the day but never investigated them properly, and I'm intrigued. 9.5/10

Loudon Wainright III - The Man Who Couldn't Cry

(Some relation of Martha and Rufus Wainright, I'm told. Means little to me but there you go.)

The Wedding Present- Shivers
Hmmm. . . this isn't much more interesting than listening to someone mow their lawn.  It seems like pretty generic indie fodder.  The chord changes are fairly pleasant, though.  It's nice listening, but not very engaging.  Oh, here's a nice little break a little past the three minute mark, and it'll fade out like this I see.

6/10

Dave Brubeck - Take Five

A great track from a great album.  The drum solo is really great, and the melody is just awesome.  Probably when of the best songs I know in 5/4.  Although, on Time Out I personally prefer Blue Rondo a la Turk.  9/10.

My track:

Rachel's - Even/Odd

Pretty cool and calm track. Though it was missing something and had the anticlimax of nothing happening in the end. 5/10
