but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

High Fidelity and Garden State for romantic movies.

Shaun of the Dead if your girl is into horror movies, but you still want some romance or humor.

Princess Mononoke if she's into anime.

Sorry if that's not any kind of original recommendation in here, but people have made good suggestions.

from dark, psychological gore flicks to foreign surreal fantasy films?

Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.

Shaun of the Dead?

Oh, you wrotten bastard, you beat me to it.

My picks:

* Hitch - The romance is pretty weak, but Kevin James and Will Smith's interaction is awesome.  It's kind of a buddy romantic comedy.
* Big Fish - Not about love, but if she cries, she'll cry during this one.  My favorite movie of all time, and definitely a good movie for Valentine's Day.

And then I can jump on board with:

* Shaun of the Dead - It's a romantic comedy.  WITH ZOMBIES.
* Philadelphia Story - Again, it's kind of a buddy romantic comedy.  Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart each doing what they do best.
* Love, Actually - My favorite Liam Neeson movie, ever.

I adored Science of Sleep. I am a sucker for that magical realism crap a la Amelie or 100 Years of Solitude.

Singin' in the Rain- a classic, sweet lovey dovey movie.  I watch this once a month RELIGIOUSLY.

holy crap, I really wish I had seen this post a couple days ago.  She was totally singing that song about a month ago was mentioned how much she loved that movie.  DANG!  Oh well, next year or something like that.

Sorry its a bit late for V.Day but there should be another one in about a year, so im early for that :)

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, and it has been ages since I last saw it, but...

Que La Lumi?re Soit  << was one of the best movies i have ever seen. Ahh those quirky French films, have to love them.

My friends and I watched Star Wars on Valentines Day.

I think that's better than anything I recommended.

i celebrated valentine's day with the gf on friday. After making dinner and such i was planning on watching lost in translation or the royal tenenbaums with her but we got a tad distracted. i later reflected that, while brilliant, the royal tenenbaums was perhaps not the best choice of films since all the relationships in that movie, except for henry and ethel's, were pretty fucked up.
