See, I considered that for a minute, but I really want the Filtertrons and the tone switching circuitry.  I really did like the Pro Jet's feel, so I suppose if I want to be frugal ('cause come on, there's a difference of a grand and a half to two grand there) I could get one.
I wasn't really looking for a Gretsch though. Just happened to get offered a trade for an old amp I had laying around, so I said "sure why not".

Ah should have been a bit more specific. I don't really know what to play, I'd like to start playing it like a bassist rather than a guitarist that owns a bass if that makes sense. Are there any particular songs that would be good to learn?
Anything by James Jamerson. Dude is probably one of the least known and most copied styles on the bass.

He is reported to have played on some 95% of Motown recordings between 1962 and 1968. He eventually performed on nearly 30 No. 1 pop hits -- surpassing the record commonly attributed to The Beatles. On the R&B charts, nearly 70 of his performances went to the top.

Oh my god if I didn't love the sound of my Kay I would do this to her. I think maybe I should buy another acoustic something like her on eBay, get a pair of those surface-mount mini-humbuckers, and build myself a hollowbody electric.

Oh my GOD I just came so hard at that idea, it's not even funny.

If I were ever to get a Wildkat I'd eventually have to break down by getting a pickguard custom-cut for it. Something about non-pickguarded guitars irks me.

But yes Shane, you should get it.

You know about that one friend of mine whose dad Chuck has a Gibson CS-356 and a Fender Blues Deluxe? Yeah, he has a WildKat too.

He knows exactly how much I hate him.

(Chris, I am oddly enough against pickguards in a lot of cases when it comes to semi-hollows. My friend with the natural-finish Sheraton took his pickguard off and the thing looks absolutely gorgeous, and I would LOVE to do that with a sunburst 335 someday)

I realize now, those are CHROME P-90s.

If I get that, for aesthetic reasons, they're going black. And getting a roller bridge, for "this shit works" reasons.

The decision is made. I will buy myself a decent budget acoustic, open tune it, and surface-mount some of those dogear P-90s. Then I will slap two volume knobs on, a tone knob, and a 3-way. And there will be no rest for the weary.

No way man, I'm gonna make it gorgeous. It's going to look something like that one Gibson ES-300 that showed up in this thread like a year ago. Except not in a gorgeous sunburst.

Edit: after perusing eBay for maybe 5 minutes I came across something that absolutely makes me cry

Oh my god I have no reason left to live, this is too perfect for me to not be able to afford it

They have one guitar and one bass available on MF. A quick Google search yielded nothing but a Strat clone, an SG clone, a 335 clone, and some other pathetic clone shit. Nothing like what Kay used to be.

Does anyone know how to play Slow Hands by Silkworm? I just can't work out the chords at all.

Also, I think this is Don't Make Plans This Friday:

G    F    A    C
Repeat a few times, then the chorus bit goes:
G    F    G    A      C     G     A    C
I'm not sure about that line, I think the second G or the A might be wrong.
The solo seems to be using the E minor pentatonic, just messing around up there. I play all the chords as barres, strumming and picking random notes, it sounds alright.

The verse chords are correct, but I usually make that A an A minor, and that first chord in the chorus I play an E minor.

Lovely fucking song.

I am pretty much tone-deaf, it takes me forever to figure out that kind of stuff. If I'm lucky, and the chords are close, I can figure out the interval after a couple tries. I really don't know how you people do it.

For the record:

all-guitar-chords.com is an amazing resource for finding names for all the ricockulous chords you "invent". There's a link to a function on there called "chord name".

It also shows you any scale you want ever.
