Counterstrike Source
« on: 16 Sep 2007, 15:34 »

Well, I'm gonna buy it, I played it at a friends house, and I had a lot of fun. My question is, because I really have no experience in online games, are there better ones?

Shouldn't this be in the Computers/VideoGames forum ?

As far as better games, check out BioShock

Or just about any other online game in the universe.

Team Fortress 2 is coming out tomorrow, definitively worth checking out. CS: Source is so littered with kids it's fucking unbelievable... The other day I was playing it (I'm so so sorry), and I accidentally hit my teammate with ONE round of autofire from my mp5 - after we'd taken down the terrorist we were both shooting at he proceeded to headshot me on purpose, after which he teabagged me until he was shot himself.
Well, Halo, and Halo 2 are both great games, but did you know that 50% of the online players are under 10? That doesn't mean its a bad game, it's just has a lot of 10 year olds to up your frag count =)

And I know there are some immature kids online.... I think some green-smokeables every once in a while is fun, but when you have some kid spouting off about how high he is, it starts to grate on you... I know what you mean, but I have a brother and sister and I can deal with it....

And if you don't want to play it any more, you could give it to me ;)

CS is pretty fucking excellent if you're playing with friends and are at least decent. "Get Bioshock it's better" is a completely stupid comment since they're completely different games. Team Fortress 2 should be worth looking into.

The only issue I can see is that the community can suck if you don't find the right servers or don't have friends playing or you're clearly new. Just remember that you can turn off voice and you can turn off chat and you should have fun.

Tips for being better: Aim for the head. Burst fire. Awp. Don't shoot at range and move at the same time. Buy armour. Don't teamflash. Use the ak and the m4, theres a reason they're pretty much the most popular. Turn your sensitivity waay waay down.

May I just point out you seem to be talking about pub counterstrike? Get on irc and mixxing vent with a few buddies and let the good times roll with a few 5v5's.

I think public servers in general make any game hell. On that note, I'm enjoying Fortress Forever a great deal.

I'm partial to Call of Duty myself.  Don't get me wrong, I like CSS (I've played it at a few LAN centers) but I much prefer CoD2.

Meh, CoD2 was too consoley for me tbh... CoD1 kicked ass though, both SP and MP (even though SP ending was rather anticlimactic).
Man, I must be one of the few people who liked the ending to CoD. You took over German HQ, then got your slant on with the rest of the troops. What was everybody expecting, for Mecha Hitler to explode from the roof with minigun hands, rocket launchers on his shoulders, and a lazer-peen?

Ah well. I'm at least comforted by the fact that there are a LOT worse endings in gaming.

Assigning scroll to fire/jump has been slightly altered so people cannot go full auto or spam to bunnyhop. As for elites, the shot loses too much power over distance, unless your caller says "Deco" or "Full buy everything" or you are an AWPer on T side looking for something better than a glock, or your entire team is on 16k you should really be eco'ing for a rifle.
1 elite bullet ain't going to be doing any good.

I usually eco for awp anyway.

I never played Source, but in my CS days all I used were DEagle and Scout.  AWPers didn't have a chance.

Scout was best in condition zero (or 1.4 tbh but that hardly counts) but now a good awper can empty a server in pub, or carry a team through ED/CAL but not CPL.

I have no fear of being banned off a public server. Any server that would ban me for playing well, I no longer want to be on. Ever. If I try to join a server and see a message saying I have been banned, I'm like "Thank God! Obviously I almost stumbled into an asshole-filled suck-fest!"

Sorry for the blatant necromancing here, but I decided it would be better to bring this old thread back from the dead than to start a new thread.

Soo.. anyone here who plays CSS in a clan or anything? I'm always interested in meeting more people from Europe who play in clans, maybe we could have a friendly 5v5 sometime.

After many years of playing only CounterStrike I played some CoD4 and now when I go back it is just not the same :(

Join the qc steam group and stuff, a few europeans on there. I know, I am one.
