What is a good semi-permanent hair dye? Because fuck manic panic. I have tried to dye my hair with that shit, and five attempts in the past two days, and all I've managed to dye it my tub, my sink, and the rest of my bathroom.

Fuck semi-permanent, I use permanent and it doesn't hold for long unless I use bleach!

Usually I am a fan of lots of hair, but if you promise to wear your glasses, I completely utterly vote for the buzz. That is good looks man!
I'm afraid the last one would require daily mussing-with or it would just look floppy and longish and dull.

I can't wear glasses anymore, I got my eyes laser'd

You could get like prop glasses. They are unbent glass (or plexiglass or whatever the fuck the lenses are made of now), like sunglasses are supposed to be, so they don't change your vision at all.

I'd agree with you(on the fuck semi), but if I use anything other than semi, I have a good chance of dying. And not in the way I'd like to. I'm very allergic to permanent dye.

Although Tennant is the most gorgeous man alive, his Doctor hairstyle needs far too much product and would be pretty impractical.

Thanks a lot.
I just cut off about 3/4 of my hair for that style, exclusively because of how great you kept saying it looks, and how every man alive should have it.

Chemically straighten it like in the movies, then dye it partially black, then fill the stripes in with bright green, trim the sides way way down and let the fringe grow out way longer.

I can, the man is a mad man. A genius, but a mad man.
My only suggestion is to avoid the bright luminous colours completely, unless they are a highlight to a colour that occurs in nature.

Guys, Flock's built-in spell checker is underlining my English spellings, how do I make it see sense?

It's telling you that you are spelling "color" incorrectly because you are spelling "color" incorrectly. Spellcheck is not a complicated thing.

I have kind of wavy dark brown hair. It is basically a classic layered bob with heavy bangs, aka Boring. I like the color for the most part, and the cut is the best cut for me, but it is just meh with a side order of blah. I was thinking taking a one to two inch wide diagonal strip of hair from behind my left earlobe to right above my right ear, bleaching it, and coloring it a deep blue. Would that look stupid or pretty neat?

Firefox also says "colour" is spelled incorrectly.  I suspect that this is because it is, in fact, spelled  incorrectly.  Firefox also allows you to add incorrectly spelled words to the dictionary if you have a desire to continue living in your delusional little British world, though.  Or if you really want to be all silly about it, Firefox even allows you to install new dictionaries.  The "English / United Kingdom" one might be to your liking.

But don't buzz it. Mohawk it perhaps?

I agree.  FUCK Manic Panic.  Unless you want to redye every week.

Special Effects makes the best semi-permanent dyes that I've tried.  I buy mine from a local record store, but you can order it online.  My hair is dirty blonde, and I've never bleached it, but it's still very vibrant and long lasting.  It's not good if you don't want to commit though.  I kept my hair purple for a while, but stopped dying it in late February in hopes of reaching a more employable hair color by summer.  I did get a job, but my hair was definitely still pinkish, even in late July when I quit.

Pentaen:  I like the length of the front portion, it is indeed nicely face framing.  You could maybe trim up the back a little, except that might be even more Pete Wentzy.  Not that that matters.  As GenericName pointed out, just avoid badly done eyeliner and posing pantsless with your Morrissey records, and you will be fine.

pentaen: i agree, long hair does suit your face structure better than shirt hair. i would recommend keeping it longish but maybe trimming and adding some layers? possibly some bangs? i am probably biased as this is the same advice i also gave anna but really i love bangs and i just think more people should have them. bangs are so great. here is a picture of my friend seth to give you an idea of what i am kind of trying to describe.

of course bleach + face metal are optional.

None of you have been particularly helpful to me!  I think it is going to be one of those times when I go to the hairdresser and say:  I want to keep a fringe and my shaveys, please do whatever you like with my cloud hair to make me look good and non-butch.
I always get a little bit scared doing that.

I have seen some really cool fluffy hairstyles.  I would even suggest layers to maximize fluffiness.  I picture ex-Cursive cellist Greta Cohn.  She has short bangs and crazy awesome "cloud" hair.

It looks wicked when she really digs into the cello.  Curls bouncing like mad.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a hair appointment on Wednesday.
This is my current mess.  What should I have them do to it?

The last actual haircut I had was almost a year ago, and it was damage control after I drunkenly chopped off 10-12 inches.  Before that I just had longass dirty hippie hair, so I don't have much experience in choosing flattering styles.  I am thinking of going a little shorter, maybe even with a fringe, but I really have no idea what would actually suit me.  As long as it is low maintenance and long enough to put in a ponytail, I will be happy.

Bad news: Your hair is kinda messy with the dyes and overall unkemptiness

Good news: You seem to be a pretty girl, and I think you could pretty much pull off most straight hairstyles. I say cut it about chin length, straighten/thin it and dye it something dark.

I've got short/mid-length hair that's naturally wavy but I straighten it alot.
I like the messy look, but for the life of me can't get it without dragging myself through a bush backwards or something, and back combing doesn't sound too appealing.
Any suggestions on how I go about doing this?

Just seemed kind of frizzied, kinda like bedhead is all.

I have nothing against how she looks... I'm just saying, she asked for advice, and I can see her rocking some dark chin-length hair, maybe with a sway-fringe.
A lot like Ephemere posted, except less shapely(even though the girl in that picture looks great with shape-ies ).

Oh gross. Shaved heads on girls require a really very very feminine face to pull it off, or you'll end up getting "sir'd" in every shop and pretty much just look awful.

I had a non-feminine lookign friend who pulled it off really well without looking manish.  I don't know guys, it can be pretty hot.  My boss was completely unsurprised at the idea of me shaving my head.  i mean, it's half way there already.  I don't know if I can commit to that though!  I also cant find a good picture to show it.
Like this one, if you ignore the mowhawk.  She has pretty hair!

Maybe I will just shave most of it off and leave hair on the top for pigtails?  i don't even know anymore.  It would be free instead of paying for a hairdresser to do it!

That doesn't negate the trying-too-hard factor though :/
I love the pink, that is self-expression through physical appearance. This shaved thing is trying desperately to stick it to all the people you dislike every time they look at you, but backfiring by fulfilling whatever negatives they might already have unfairly attributed to you.

(This is my personal opinion of hair styles like this, please don't take it as a personal affront! This is how I would react and think of you if I saw you in a crowd and didn't know you)
