Curly hair is awesome! I had a perm when I was younger, and although ill-advised with my length and type of hair, it was fun having curls! You don't have to brush your hair all of the time and it looks awesome mostly.

Anyway.

I am sorry I forgot about this thread when I posted my most recent picture!
Let me try again.

I had a big old whitish skunk stripe put in my hair yesterday and I do not know what colour to dye it! I have done hot pink and bright red before and I really like both, but this time perhaps something different.
The current suggestion I am liking is turquoise, but maybe that is a bit much?

In a very general sense I tend to prefer straight hair to curly hair, but that picture is making me deeply question my opinion.

Lunchy, I would suggest a natural red hair color. I wouldnt think turqoise would work.

In fact, I shaved my head in sympathy for you, don't you remember? I went from shoulder length hair to completely bald. How can you not remember?

Everyone with straight hair is simply jealous that their hair is not curly and therefore awesome.

i have naturally wavy hair which looks awful on me, and so i keep my hair very short and straight. i have no doubt curls would look even more dreadful.
it depends on the person and their individual face shape and all that. some people (i.e. manda) look great with curls, other people (i.e. me)... not so much.

I wish my hair weren't curly. It'd lend itself to fauxhawks much more easily.

one of my housemates also has extremely thick, curly hair which she keeps really short. every couple of months or so it inevitably ends up growing into an afro and she stomps around the house complaining about it.
i think it is hilarious but i don't think she agrees. no one gets my sense of humour over here.

Lunchy - If you want a bright color, maybe violet? I don't know how well turquoise would work with the brown, but I know violet would.

Re curls: I wish I had curly hair. The last time I got curls to stick (6 years ago?), it took almost an entire bottle of hairspray. My hair just does not like to do anything curly or wavy unless I sleep with wet hair and wake up with some interesting kinks.

I'd like to keep it reasonably long, in other words, past my ears, minimum.

Post example pics plz?

Yeah, but I've had the same hairstyle for about 4 years now, I've been growing it since I left high school. It's time for a change.

I do like having long hair, and I think it suits me more than any other style I can think of. Maybe some way I can just make it more interesting?

Try harder, QC Forums!

Alright, how about;
1) Shave everywhere except the fringe/bangs skin bald, or at least close.
2) Cut said fringe in a method that makes it spike into a single horn.
3) Dye the fuck out of said fringe.
4) Spike into a unicorn-esque horn daily.

Come on, it would definitely be more interesting.

Dude if you're linking to a random Facebook photo, at least link the picture file and not the page. Anyone without a Facebook can't see that, and even those with Facebooks often can't because of privacy settings.

except when you use the URL under the photo entitled "Show people this photo by sending them this public link."

EDIT: huh, apparently you can hotlink the image itself, I always thought you couldn't do that.

RWS: Fringe up! It looks punky and awesome the way you pull it up kinda poofy. It would look cool even if you just pinned your fringe up and kept the rest of the hair down. Alice bands should be everyone's friends!

Darryl: What. Did. You. Do.

Dovey: Get it thinned out with a bit of choppy layering, it will make it look not so big but will still be long and awesome. I hope you condition.

RWS don't do that, short fringes are dumb and also terribly hard to get looking right if you don't have naturally straight hair! Unless you really want to cut it then you should get it so it goes into a sideswept fringe like mine used to.

Wait right above eye level isn't really that short-it'd be like the guy's in Normz photo, and she could still side sweep em only she would be able to see out of both eyes! Though I think right above the cheek-below the eye (ie not really that much shorter than what she already has) would be most fitting for her, because it would bring out the cheekbones more.

Normz, personally I like the shorter cut on you better, but the color in the second one.

see the only thing i dont like about shorter hair is that it is too much effort cause i am always having to straighten it whereas with longer hair if i wake up with it all curly i can put it in a ponytail ... also i cant do the QUIFF

or other awesome variations on up-dos

Longer it is, then! Both look nice anyway.

I just get all confused when I hear that shorter hair is harder to maintain, since I have chin-length kinda wavy hair and all I ever do post-shower is maybe put a little mouse or styling cream, then walk out the door. When my hair was elbow-length, I always had to blow it dry (which took forever) and straighten it (since it was shitty wave when long).

RWS I think you look really great with the bangs down and maybe just a little less good with them up (my preferences tend towards hair down in general, so there's my bias). Maybe have them up when you're going casual and down when you're dressing up? I imagine having them down in your eyes would get annoying?

normz all of the QUIFFS are really cute so you should keep it longish, I have really no preference between the first two shots you posted, but the last two are rad.

Lunchbox, thankyou for actually answering my question seriously, I was more or less thinking of doing what you said, I might try to work something out with the hairdresser when I get there/just let them do whatever the hell they want. And yes I condition religiously, otherwise my hair knots up like a mo-fo.

EDIT: Damnit why do I always pagebreak things.

Normz, grow your hair longer! Long long long!
