Political survey, how fun! (homework help plz)
« on: 20 May 2008, 14:09 »

I'm doing an election project in government class, and one of the mandatory requirements is surveying people to know a wide variety of voter types and whatnot. Preferably, it'd be better if you were old enough to vote, and also an American citizen

So just take a bit of time to answer the questions. Not all questions are yes or no ones, but try to explain your answers without writing an essay, please. I don't want to start a flame war or anything, and I hope this is the place for the survey.

I'd also really appreciate it if you copy and pasted the questions and wrote your answers below each question or something.

Here we go:

Name, first and last
Age
State

1. Did you vote in the last election?
2. Are you going to vote in November?
3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?
4. What party do you belong to, and why?
5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?
6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?
7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not?
9. How do you decide whom to vote for?
10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?
11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?
12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?
13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?

Name, first and last
Daniel Fakelastname (no, seriously)

Age
18

State
United Kingdom

1. Did you vote in the last election?
No - underage and in a different country.

2. Are you going to vote in November?
No - in a different country.

3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?
No - in a different country.

4. What party do you belong to, and why?
No - in a different country.

5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?
Love it (one of my best friends is an illegal immigrant and I don't think borders or nations are rad anyway).

6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?
Start another war (seriously).

7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
For every well-informed, rational vote there are a thousand uninformed, irrational votes.

8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not?
No idea!

9. How do you decide whom to vote for?
I decide who would best meet my own needs by being voted into power, that's what politics is for.

10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?
That sounds pretty uncapitalistic to me!

11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?
Nah, less fun that way.

12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?
They should try and get them into politics, or get them to get rid of politics.

13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?
Ignorance is bliss!

7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
I think it is beneficial to vote, because on Sabrina the Teenage Witch an election was tipped on the scale by two votes - it got me thinking, "what if Obama got elected because I didn't vote? Everyone would be super mad at me!"

There should be series called Obama the Teenage Witch.

Name, first and last: Dude Surveys Are Supposed To Be Anonymous.
Age: Older than methusalem
StateProvince: Zeeland

1. Did you vote in the last election?
Yesh.
2. Are you going to vote in November?
No idea, i think the waterboard is having elections then.
3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?
No idea, because i havent oriented myself on party programs yet.
4. What party do you belong to, and why?
I do not belong to a specific party, due to not giving a crap
5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?
The problem is not in my country, way to solve is to make it so that people do not want to leave theirs. You will have a very good reason before you take your chances doing this.
6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?
President? We have a Prime Minister! Consittutional Monarchy ftw!
7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
Well, duh. It is the way in which you as a citizen are able to directly influence what happens in the coming x years.
8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not?
Who?
9. How do you decide whom to vote for?
Read all the bazillion party programs, kieswijzer.nl, and reading assorted texts the politicians have said the last 4 years.
10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?
"campaign spending" is to vague of a definition. A campaign needs money to be spent, else you know, you as a politician wont be able to actually reach the people who you try to convince to vote for you.
11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?
As long as it doesnt fall into outright buying of votes, its all good.
12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?
What, if people dont care enough to vote, why should they be allowed to complain about policies?
13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?
No, please keep the idiots out. Populistic politicians, with one or two main issues suck donkeyballs.
Yes, its very nice you care about animals, or whatever, but i would like to be informed on your international policy, healthcareplans, economic ideas and all that jazz.

NO BUT I DID SODOMISE THE POSERCHRIST ON THE CLOUDED FROST SPIRE OF ANAXAGAZAROTH

2. Are you going to vote in November?

NOVEMBER IS TOO LUKEWARM AND POSERISH A MONTH. I SHALL VOTE WHEN THE SNOWS OF ETERNAL WINTER COVER THE DYING EARTH AND THE HUES OF SUNLIGHT CEASE TO DANCE ON THE TREMBLING FACES OF THE WEAK.

3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?

SATAN. BECAUSE SATAAAAAAAN.

4. What party do you belong to, and why?

5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?

Name, first and last
Here comes a Special Christ! (Jesus Christ, Saviour of Man) (I assumed you wanted my official title as well.)

Age
2008 (I am pretty old!)

State
Bliss (I always am.)

1. Did you vote in the last election?
No (I was busy sitting by my father's right hand, you see.)

2. Are you going to vote in November?
No (I will still be busy sitting by my father's right hand.)

3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?
McCain is a true Christian (Obama and Hillary have entered a pact of unholiness by Doing It after debates. I have seen them.)

4. What party do you belong to, and why?
I belong to all parties (that makes me everybody's best friend!)

5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?
We should let them come on over (as long as they accept Me as their true lord and saviour.)

6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?
He should pray more (the American economy is directly influenced by the amount of Presidential Prayers we receive.)

7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
I do not believe, I know (I am pretty close to my father, and he does have a fair bit of influence in these matters, after all!)

8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not?
ELECTORAL COLLAGES ARE THE WORK OF SATAN (but you can still be a good Christian and attend, it is not your fault SATAN HAS FUCKED THE PRINCIPAL SEVERAL TIMES WITH HIS BIG, SCALY PENIS.)

9. How do you decide whom to vote for?
I decide who wins (so I do not need to have an opinion!)

10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?
That depends on whether or not the money has been blessed by a vicar (preferrably The Pope.)

11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?
Let them hang their posters I say, they have no effect in the long run (trust me on this one)

12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?
Pray more (really, it helps! I prwomise!)

13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?
Whoever has the most dedicated Christian followers wins the election (Sharpen up, North-Americans! Your fellow humans down south have not delved into depravity and filth as of yet! Not as much as a single condom! If I weren't Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour I would say they are better humans than you! Don't force dad to pull a Gomorrah on you, last time he was really choked up about killing those hundreds and hundreds of people literally for days.)

What the fuck is THIS?

Anyways, I will do as asked and answer

Name, first and last:  Thomas
Age: 22-ish
State: Intoxicated, slightly aroused

1. Did you vote in the last election?
Yeah, but it doesn't fucking count.... here's a little hint... ELECTORAL COLLEGE, dipshits, popular vote means jack shit

2. Are you going to vote in November?
Depends on how fucking wacked up this election becomes... its already a circus

3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?
McCain, if you vote for either Democratic candidate, I will personally sodomize your ass with a splintery 2 X 4

4. What party do you belong to, and why?
Registered Republican, changing to independent

5. What is your stance on illegal immigration?

I'm an American, and we have a problem with this, and Amnesty is a fucking joke.  if they are ILLEGAL, then they are breaking our laws and subject to punishment.  If you come here LEGALLY, then welcome, but if you break out laws, you should not get amnesty, seriously.  BREAK A LAW AND GET AMNESTY, WTF GOVERNMENT?  Good job at that epic fail.

6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?
Nothing will change with our current government setup, its all the same bullshit fed to you, just by a different person

7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?
The primary's yes, but the actual presidential vote, no.  Again, electoral College, your vote means jack shit.

8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not?
Abolished, let the president be voted for by the PEOPLE, like it was originally supposed to fucking be

9. How do you decide whom to vote for?
The one who spends the least amount of time bashing another candidate and instead focuses on themselves (which, is no one right now)

10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?
Of course, and if I need to explain this, then there is a problem with your common sense (think, scratch my back, I'll scratch yours)

11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?
yeah, it should be regulated... in a government of the people by the people, the people cannot afford to run for president... only millionaires can

12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?
Yeah, give us a chance to get their incompetent asses out, and restore this country to its former glory before the fucking political circus

13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?
No, POLITICS is harming the process of democracy, voters are getting tired of the bullshit, and not bothering to vote for dumb ass # 1 or dumb ass # 2

Politics has very little to do with being a drunken, angry moron.

My humor never works quite well with sane people.  Not sure why, but i was not trying to be an ass, just trying to be funny.

I apologize to those who took it the wrong way, sorry.

I'm starting to really hope this kid's project was actually on internet humor and group behaviors in a forum and he's actually played us all

I will be more amused if it was a serious assignment, but he (people are saying he/him, but I don't actually know) still uses the responses from this thread in the final presentation of this project, whatever that may be.  Especially Khar's, because I LOLed.

Name, first and last

Around these parts I go by Jill.  I do not like putting my real name on the internet.

Age

21

State

Drunken

1. Did you vote in the last election?   Not presidential.  I have voted in every election since turning 18, but in 2004 I was not old enough to vote.

2. Are you going to vote in November?  Yes.

3. What candidate are you going to vote for, and why?   NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

4. What party do you belong to, and why? Parties suck.

5. What is your stance on illegal immigration? The giant fence is a dumb as fuck idea.  That's all I will say.

6. What do you think the next president can do to improve the economy?  Jobs shouldn't go overseas.

7. Do you believe it is beneficial to vote? Why or why not?  I do it.  More people my age probably should.

8. What is the electoral college, and should it be retained or abolished? Why or why not? Get rid of it.  It's based on popular vote anyway, so all it really does is fuck up the numbers.

9. How do you decide whom to vote for?  ISSUES.

10. Do you believe campaign spending undermines the honesty of a campaign? Why or why not?  Fuck campaign spending.  You shouldn't need money to run for office.

11. Should campaign advertising be regulated, and if so, how? Why or why not?  Campaign advertising should be done away with.  All they do is slam each other, and you get no information regarding their actual stances on issues.  Plus, it costs money.  I hate campaign advertising.

12. Should the government try to give people more incentive to vote? If so, how?  If you're not motivated enough to vote, you're not motivated enough to research the issues.  No.

13. Is voter ignorance harming the process of democracy?  In my ideal world, everyone does research before formulating opinions.  This will never happen.

Even trying to be brusque and careless, I still wind up with serious opinions.  Shit.
