Hammers are great (I'm biased as I know a couple of them) but having seen them live a couple of times they've been really good both times. Did you enjoy them? I've not seen most of those bands though, do tell?

Y.

I've got tickets for ...And So I Watch You From Afar next week and the Mountain Goats the next week. I still have to find a room in Manchester for that though.

Do I buy tickets to go see the Vaselines + Mudhoney? Downside: Tickets are 20 pounds.

Woo, local show tonight. Three bands who basically cover all the music genres I like, and have some of my favourite bands as influences  :-)

Plus I know all the members of one of the bands  :-D

hammers weren't really my kinda thing, the really slow parts kinda bored me, but the sheer oppressive heaviness that a mere three people manage to bash out is fucking amazing.  i mean, depressing as fuck, but a hell of a spectacle and experience.  ceremony's set seemed like half an hour of tiny song fragments randomly thrown together, but made up for it with insane performance (especially the singer), and paint it black were pretty kickass (i've been vaguely interested in them for a while, but this gig has got me properly into them!).

There should be four people in Hammers...I think one of them was away in Switzerland, which may explain why there set had so many slow bits in...I will check out Paint it Black though!

I'm excited about the Insect Warfare tour as I've just found out a friend of mine will be doing vocals, but I can't say who as it's still a secret eeeee! Exciting though.

Not enough shows for me to be excited about though. Last weekend saw some awesome bands esp. a.p.a.t & Lavochkin. Different but brilliant.

Oh shit it is Pop Montreal starting tomorrow.  I'll be going to see a ton of music.  Hopefully:

Amy Millan
Think About Life
Maserati
Mono
Ian Svenonious
AIDS Wolf
Duchess Says
Teenage Jesus And The Jerks
Japandroids
Faust (Join in improv session)
Black Feelings
Faust (proper show)
BRAIDS
Cadence Weapon
The Hoof & The Heel

I don't expect to make it to all of those, but it is certainly possible.  Also, there will be a ton of free shows around town, notable at Phonopolis records.

Is it better than regular AIDS? Does it give one wolfish tendencies such as a keen sense of smell and good eyesight in dark circumstances?

It's having a wolf right in your cells. Imagine being a werewolf, but with the slight downside that you don't have a fully functioning immune system anymore. A small price to pay in order to reenact scenes from Teen Wolf.

Four times I think?  Definitely one of my favourite live bands.  A favourite was at Pop last year, when one of their guitarists couldn't play, so they had three other guitarists (From Shearing Pinx and Athletic Automaton) step in to play an improv style set.  Their drummer is ridiculously talented, and Chloe (the singer) is entrancing.

Just got back from The Weakerthans at Music Hall of Williamsburg.

I want to see them so bad. So few bands come 'round these here parts.

BUT, I will be seeing the Decemberists Sunday night, and it's my first time! I'm pretty excited about this! Are they still doing the Hazards tour? Does anyone know?

November 7th, Xavier Caféine
November 8th, Malajube
November 28th, Lights
December 2nd, We Are Wolves with Parlovr.

This makes up for not being able to attend any show at Pop Montreal this year.

October 10: Om
October 22: Six Finger Sattelite with Chinese Stars
October 24: Vic Chestnutt with Guy Picciotto (of Fugazi) and members of Silver Mt. Zion
November 2: Shearing Pinx
November 4: The Black Heart Procession with Bellini
November 15: Dirty Projectors

Well, for two main reasons. Transportation and money. I don't have any Money now to go to shows, or for taking the bus/Metro. Which means that transportation is a problem too, I'm just 16 so, I can't drive, and I can't ride bikes (sadly). Oh and also, school is a problem too. Since I don't live in Montreal, it takes time to go to a show and come back and I can't afford taking a day off from school.

The shows I listed on my last post (except the Lights show) are all near the Montmorency College, which is not realy that far from where I live, in Laval. And they are in average 14$ each.

So, all I can say is, Joseph, you better enjoy those damn shows. ^_^

That sucks a lot. But it reminds me that Future of the Left are going to be in my area Nov. 6 and it is only $10 which is just so awesome.  I'm quite excited. I should start now on trying to see if I know anyone who likes FotL who could go with me, I'm really bad at remembering to do that.

At the moment future gigs include Maximo Park, You Am I, NOFX/Bad Religion, Soundwave (Weakerthans, AFI, Gallows, etc) and Pixies wooooooo

Went to see The Horrors and Japanese Motors on Tuesday.

Didn't make it on time for the Japanese Motors, but I did get free sunglasses and stickers from one of the guys when we arrived. The Horrors were spectacular, and sooo bloody loud. After the show the band members were just hanging around in the bar area, so my friend Jean went up to the singer and drunkenly demanded to know why he didn't play "Draw Japan", and he went on to explain to her why he doesn't care for that track...most of which I missed, and Jean was too pissed to explain it correctly to me.

Plus me and my other friend Tad both hugged the guitarist (who was way shitfaced) and bought him shots. Amazingly down-to-earth guys, really improved my already lofty opinions on them. Though I bet they enjoy being able to play small club shows for 15 bucks as relative unknowns in the US, compared to the mobbing they receive across the pond. The rest of my night was fucking awful, but at least I have the show.

I'm not familiar with the Horrors, but it's too bad you missed Japanese Motors, they were a blast when I saw them open for Modest Mouse back in March.  Speaking of which, I believe they're on Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace label.

I was not as excited to see the Furs, but they did right by their 35-50yo old audience of all white people stuck in their "formative years." :P

In my dream world, Bez has started a supergroup with the tambourine dude from The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
I was trying to figure out exactly WHO was in the band. Of course I couldn't understand a THING Shaun was saying. (Subtitles would be needed were it a concert film). I think that was Rowetta not sure if that was his bro on bass. I'm no Mondays expert. There was another cat on the keys that also played some guitar and some chick who played keys for the Furs was also in on at least one song w/ the Mondays. I took some pics and a vid snippet but I've not gotten them off the card as of yet. I think that was Moose on gtr. But I really am talking out me arse.
