Damn. The Joanna Newsom show on March 15th is already goddamn sold-out. Luckily, they announced another show on March 14th. I'll try to get tickets, but I don't think I'll be able. Arg.

I'm going to a PersonL show on Thursday.

I'm not really excited about it, but it's really cheap, and I haven't been able to go to any show in a long time due to college, and I just want to go listen to some music (crappy or not--I admittedly don't know much about these guys apart from myspace songs, and from my knowledge that the lead singer's also in The Starting Line) and be a part of a big community of music listeners again.  And I'm dragging some friends along, so if they suck we can at least make fun of them.

They canceled a few shows of that tour, though.

Specifically, the one I went to, which worked out really well because Weezer ended up playing a two hour set.

I also really want to see Bela Fleck play, but he's going to be ridiculously expensive, so I'll probably give it a miss.

I just watched that video of him in Africa, it's really amazing. He seems like such a good natured guy, too. How much are tickets to see him? (just out of curiosity, I won't be able to afford them)

Also, the guy I was watching it with popped out with, "All this music sounds really Caribbean." I responded with, "Yeah, where do you think they got the black people in the Caribbean from?"

PersonL wasn't bad.  Quite an enjoyable band live, actually.  Bassist was sweet.

Now there're two much smaller independent shows on Sat and Sun I want to go to, but the Sat show is hardcore, and none of my friends want to go to it. :(  My girlfriend'd go with me, but she's in Germany :(
Well, the Sunday show should be ok.

Yeah, she's great! Saw her in a tiny one room space here on campus opening for Phil Elverum. Actually...Fred Squire opened, Julie Doiron played next, and then the two of them with Phil Elverum played the entirety of Lost Wisdom, and then Phil did solo stuff. The point is, Julie Doiron is very cool and puts on a great, intimate show.
