May 19 seeing Eluvium in NY...playing as a TRIO!! I'm so fucking excited!!
And then MONO in June at least once, maybe two or three times depending on what else is going on.
Aaaand maybe Stars whenever they tour for their new album. Not a bad live show, that.
And then hopefully Wolf Parade who also put on a killer show and Wintersleep who should be touring for their newest. The latter two toured together a couple years ago and it was pretty awesome.
LCD Soundsystem in NY would be good. Playing surprisingly small venues relative to status but I'm not complaining. Except I probably will be when tickets sell out instantly.
All very tentative.

Is it just me or is $25 to see Wolf Parade a little out of control? They're great but that's a lot of money!

Where? The Music Hall of Williamsburg show was only $20 and the Terminal 5 show was only $35.

I dunno, I guess I'm used to small venues in Philly where most of the shows I see are between $10 and $20 and NY where you they're $12-$20. For a band of Wolf Parades' status, $25 just seems disproportionately high.

In Seattle anywhere from $10 - $30 is pretty typical for a show, not counting the inordinate ticketmaster fees.

Oooh that looks like something I could bring a friend along for.

Dance Tonight! Fest 4th-5th June:
Aussitôt Mort, Karysun, Resurrectionists, My Polaris Artillery, Nightpass, Suis La Lune, Millions Of Them, Blood Command, Petethepiratesquid, Downfall Of Gaia, If Footmen Tire you, what will horses do?, Echo, Echo, Landscape!, Dominic etc... and it's FREE.

AFTER that Roskilde Festival 2010:
Beach House, Chimes and Bells, Circle, Converge, Dirty Projectors, Efterklang, Gorillaz, Health, Iceage, Japandroids, Motörhead, Muse, NOFX, Pavement, Serena-Maneesh, Them Crooked Vultures, Wild Beasts, Wooden Shjips and SO MUCH MORE (that haven't been announced yet).

And if I didn't have exams I would totally go to CMAR Fest...

Fucccckkkkkkk Yoooouuuuuuuuuuu

Nevermind that most of the bands you're bitching about having to pay $20 to go see will probably never get to tour to Australia anyway.

Last week I saw Beach House in Minneapolis, with opener Bachelorette.  Bachelorette was okay if not terribly compelling, but she had an adorable Kiwi accent. She had a lot of very carefully constructed songs that she put together with a loop pedal, a few instruments and a fairly powerful voice. The she played reminded me of the first time I saw St. Vincent, before she was touring with a band.

Beach House were excellent. The venue was full of folding chairs, but after their third song everyone stood up. I danced around, not like frantically or like I would a dance show, but the fact that the music moved me in that way at all was sort of surprising, as I tend to think of Beach House as a pretty relaxing affair.  I also was apparently on the verge of forgetting how much I love Beach House before I went to the show; the friend who I'd planned to go with flaked out on me and I was getting anxious about going to the show alone, but the band just lit up my insides like warm honey. So worth it. Every song went off brilliantly.

This Sunday I'm going to see Major Lazer with Rusko and I'm ridiculously pumped. I'm just going to sweat my brain out of head it'll soak into everyone else and we'll dance and feel and oh god it's gonna be great

The xx were great live, one of the better light shows I've seen at Sodo. jj was hilariously bad, though. all the chick did was sing karaoke style over their arrangements and the guy just kind of wandered around onstage with his jacket over his head.

Holy shit show thread/blog thread cross-over madness!!

Mountain Goats were Fucking Awesome tonight. They played for almost two hours. They had a drummer. On some songs John played keys. Fucking keys. He rocked the fuck out of them. They played two encores. Two genuine encores with people refusing to stop applauding and stop cheering and stop pleading for more until the band came out and played more. The last song they played was "Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton". There was no Insane Clown Poesy.

This is awesome! I was kind of expecting John to play some keys on the last tour based on him basically playing nothing but keys on the Satanic Messiah and Black Pear Tree EPs which came out not long before those shows but he didn't, not that I was complaining.

[qupte]The last song they played was "Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton"

Oh and also his good-natured but hilarious dissing of a guy who called out for "No Children" very early in the set:

"Yeah that's a great idea, 'No Children' as the third song. That's like going to a Bruce Springsteen concert and expecting him to play 'Glory Days' first."

(He played "No Children" in the first encore.)
