I have never listened to Slint. I think I have subconsciously vowed not to just because of how often everyone here talks about Spiderland.

that is ... unwise.

You know how Desmond on Lost had a copy of Our Mutual Friend he hadn't opened, because he had read every other Dickens book but that one and intended it to be the last book he read before he died?

Maybe Spiderland could be my musical Our Mutual Friend.

Supergrass on October 8th.

Not the most inventive band but I really enjoy their particular little blend of pop-rock.

Guys, as the new booking director at WXBC, my college radio station, I'm right in the middle of booking Shearwater to play in a awesome garage/venue here on campus. I'm totally going to get to hang out with them. I'm really excited!
Same with Bishop Allen and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, come to think of it.

I missed a Girl Talk show a month or so ago, and apparently he's really amazing live.  I was bummed I couldn't go.

But uh, here's my list for the next couple months:

man man - 8/27
built to spill - 9/6
okkervil river - 9/20
deerhoof - 10/6
gogol bordello - 10/7

Mainly I'm excited about Man Man and Deerhoof.  I might go see Atmosphere too, but I might be too broke to afford it by then.

Bonus points for Stars and Iron and Wine also playing here, but on the same nights as other shows.  Awesome (but not really).

M83, Built to Spill, Okkervil River, Mogwai, Efterklang

AHHHHH efterklang....

They only played 21+ venues last time they were here.
I emailed the band and apparently they had no idea.

I will see them eventually...

I will be seeing the Brian Jonestown Massacre tomorrow night, on account of my girlfriend being a huge fan.

I think their music is pretty alright, I suppose. Anyway, I'm hoping it'll be good.

Then on Saturday I'll be going to a warehouse party with seven stages. It will have more music than you can poke a stick at. It will be free. It will be full of lovely people who support underground free parties. It will be fucking awesome.

Bumbershoot is this weekend in Seattle. I'm not sure if I'm terribly excited about it though.

It will be my first exposure to Neko Case, however. Are they terribly good? I do not know. I will Monday, though.

I'm going to the Shelter Valley Folk Festival this weekend! It's all folk music and there's on-site camping, the food is organic and the stages are powered with sustainable energy sources!

Oh man. So stoked.

Neko Case is a single woman (though I would assume she's playing with a band) and she's not terribly good, I would say she's simply good.

In absolutely no order:

Little Red 12/9
Brian Jonestown Massacre 31/8
the New Pornographers 11/10
Ladytron 3/10

I have no idea how the last three are supposed to be live... but I'm excited anyway. I haven't been going to nearly enough shows lately.

The police show @ Madison Square Garden.

It was a future show but not any more.

My luck that most of my favoriate songs were covered during the final wrapped up show in New York's Madison Square Garden in August, such as - Message in a Bottle
Walking on the Moon, Roxanne, So Lonely, Every Breath You Take and Next to You...  I found it's funny when the police were joined by the New York Police Department marching band for "Message in a Bottle" when they wrapped up this blockbuster 15-month   reunion tour .

I may just head up there and hope for a scalper, because General Admission seating is not my cup of tea.

The 18th for me. And Stars the night after. I'm excited! It'll be really cool, despite my initial dismay, to see SR without Amiina or the brass section (since no shows on the US leg of the tour will have them) b/c they'll be forced to play a lot of stuff which doesn't rely on those elements i.e. a lot of stuff that they don't often play live.

Man, who knows. I got one girl starting up a second job and another girl in medical school. They've been pretty good about adhering to plans before but hell, you never really know. I should be fairly certain about 2 of the 3 girls by about this time next week (I hope) but they might drop out on short notice. That's happened with other friends. If none of mine are loose you could still make the attempt to snag a ticket. Scalpers are at every show, and you might even find some concertgoers selling their tickets at cost. If you make it in I'll buy you a beer or something. But I'd hate for you to make the trek and come up empty-handed. Your call.

At the point I got the tickets I suspect they'd been on sale for awhile, so they're row 38, which is a little over halfway up. Sound and line of sight are both pretty excellent at Red Rocks, though.

Hmm... I guess I should start looking for someone to bring, and gauge how much I like that person, with how much I want to spend...  I just found someone selling a Row 2 pair of tickets for $120 each :D

I do believe that a lot of them are playing individual shows while they're here. Like the My Bloody Valentine set we're seeing this month (they're headlining ATP too)
