I came back from Owen Pallett's show in Montreal. I love that man and his music. Plus, Thomas Gill is basically the nicest guy ever.

Apparently my parent's bought me & my brother tickets to go see Dropkick Murphy's tomorrow night?  I guess it should be cool?  I don't really know any of their music.

Gogol Bordello are playing near you? Lucky. I'd love to see them. They've played twice in the Bay Area within the last year. In '08 they played at Slim's. I don't see any tour dates in the near future, but if they come back to the Bay anytime soon, I'm taking that day off from work.

tl;dr I am jealous

Yeah, they're skipping out on Seattle on this tour too. I guess I can settle for playing their forthcoming album really loud.

Guys, dilemma.

Mayer Hawthorne and Passion Pit

Beach House.

This is a serious question

Seen Mayer Hawthorne.

Don't give a fuck about Passion Pit.

Passion Pit is sold out, so I can't go with more than one friend using the 2 tickets I already have.

Beach house is not.

I don't feel much like dancing, but fun music is fun, and I feel like Beach House could just put me to sleep.

Anyway I really just wanna see Dexy's live, but that ain't finna happen.

To either? I have tickets for one already but maybe want to see the other one more.

This is not a question of like, having doubts about my desire to attend a live music experience.

Just which music experience would be more enjoyable and memorable in a live setting.

I've seen Beach House twice.  Before the first time I had the same fear about being put to sleep by their show, but it actually ends up sort of mesmerizing you.  They're good, see them.

So Dropkick Murphys last night was pretty good, considering the opening 3 songs played were 3 of the 4 songs I knew by them.  First off, the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ is a pretty cool place.  Great part of the city, the theater itself was beautiful.  The sound inside was decent, not amazing, not awful.  The Murphys came out on fire.  About 5-6 songs into the show, the singer started yelling at a guy all the way down in the front about something during a song.  When the song was over, he yelled at the guy again.  I don't really know what the guy was doing, but it was enough to piss the band & the bouncers off.  Then, about :30 into the next song, all the sound goes out.  All of it.  The band waited it out for a few minutes, then walked off the stage.  The house lights kept coming on and off, and no one really knew what was going on.  The crowd started getting pissed.  Finally, after at least 20 minutes, the band came back on, played two songs, and then announced that the fire alarm had been pulled.  They thought the guy they yelled at pulled it.  It sucked but at least it was kinda entertaining.  The rest of the show was pretty good.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Never a boring experience, DKM live. I'm kinda bummed I'm not going to any of their Boston shows this year. I've been to at least one the past three years.

Maybe you could do a double header with Los Campesinos! ?  I'm pretty sure that's how the issue would be resolved if this were an episode of Fame.

Well, I'm back from that Alex Lukashevsky/T H O M A S/Luxury Pond show.  Sadly, the latter didn't perform.  Lukashevsky was really cool and Thomas from T H O M A S recognised me at the end of the show. He's such a nice guy.
