Are any other australians annoyed/dismayed/pissed off about the massive overreaction to that Chaser's sketch? It clearly wasn't the least bit serious.. How people can get so offended by that is completely beyond me. Honestly I'm rather bummed out about it; how have we gotten so po-faced and serious?

Context for non australians:

I started getting annoyed by it then remembered that mainstream Australia has become even more vacuous and retarded than usual in the last 5-6 years, and that it's pretty much par for the course.

That's true, but I generally thought that the retardedness was generally limited to Today Tonight/A Current affair fans, whereas here it seems to have spread to the main population :(

Someone actually SUED Quaker because they thought cereal was real fruit?! Quick, hide the Trix! Oh no, she found the Cookie Crisp! Now she's going to sue because it's not made with real cookies!

Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

Apparently she sued Kellogg's a few years back when she discovered that Froot Loops were not made with real "froot".

Transformable Tomas

OMFG The Japanese are raping my childhood!!!

This is just not right! I grew up with Ringo Starr reading the tales of the Reverend W Awdry, and no-where in any of them did Diesel rebel against Megatron's authority before getting crunched by Percy.

I think you're getting your precious childhood memories mixed up. Despite the presence of "transform" in the name that's clearly Voltron the Tank Engine.

Heh!  My other  famous cousin (though I never met him; my sister lived quite close to him for a while, though, and did).

That's it - no more famous cousins.

Yeah definitely something like that.  I haven't seen HR Puffinstuff, but everything else fits.  I have a feeling that at least at the start of the show all the action scenes were pulled out of existing Japanese action series' and sandwiched in with a bunch of American teens to make it more palatable to a western audience.

That's actually exactly what happened, or at least wikipedia backs me up. The Japanese programme was apparently called Super Sentai.

I am pretty worried that I not only knew this, but seem to have deemed it worth remembering.
