Are any other australians annoyed/dismayed/pissed off about the massive overreaction to that Chaser's sketch? It clearly wasn't the least bit serious.. How people can get so offended by that is completely beyond me. Honestly I'm rather bummed out about it; how have we gotten so po-faced and serious?

Yeah definitely something like that. I haven't seen HR Puffinstuff, but everything else fits. I have a feeling that at least at the start of the show all the action scenes were pulled out of existing Japanese action series' and sandwiched in with a bunch of American teens to make it more palatable to a western audience.

That's actually exactly what happened, or at least wikipedia backs me up. The Japanese programme was apparently called Super Sentai.

I am pretty worried that I not only knew this, but seem to have deemed it worth remembering.
