Chucks are pretty good. They don't stand out, but neither do they make you look boring.

Get some fair trade chucks. They're better quality as well as that whole "not made in sweatshop" thing. Every pair of Converse Chucks I've owned have fallen apart on me.

Today in a fit of impulsiveness I bought this:

Although technically it wasn't impulsive because
a) i've wanted a jacket like this for over 2 years and
b) I agonised over it for a good half an hour before buying it.

Dang I have bought a whole mess of rad clothing recently. I promise I will actually bother to take pictures soon.

Seriously, how does everyone in the forum know each others first names?

Why do you think the caption under Hurrrrr is "These people have all slept with each other"?

Liz, that coat is amazing.

if you're asking for opinions, i would say no to chucks because they are owned by nike now which is probably the one company you should absolutely avoid ever supporting if you can.

no sweat (oh wait i guess maiada already mentioned them) make some pretty good substitutes. so do blackspot.

Now I know what Chucks are! I have always just called my (cheap knock off) ones "fake Converse" but I knew that wasn't the right term.

I have some khaki ones with the pink panther playing a saxophone on the side. I bought them in the Czech Republic two years ago and they are awesome in every way except as shoes. They are too small and not waterproof and rub my ankles.

What are you guyses opinion on Vans Slip Ons? I have a pair of black/white checkered and I took Sharpies and colored all the white squares. Now they are the definition of awesome. I need to recolor them sometime though, they're kind of fading.

I like Vans slip ons. They are comfy and don't have laces, which is rather awesome.

Re Chucks: That's why I stoped wearing high tops. Actually, I can't really find chucks anymore that I can wear with socks. I can wear a size 7 (converse sizing) without socks, but size 8 is way too big. The ones I have pre-Nike are 7.5 and they don't make that size anymore. I switched to Saucony when this happened. (Besides the fact that Saucony's are more comfortable and much better at being waterproof.)

Vans Slip-Ons are awesome a lot of times, yeah. I am trying to love mine, but they always give me blisters on one heel :/ It drives me insane, because aside from that, I really like them. My parents even found a pair of all black ones when they were sold out almost everywhere, so I tend to wear them anyways, because I love that model.

I really like Vans Slip ons. I have a pair of blue/black checkerd that is pretty rad, but they are kind of streched out so they don't fit that well. Its okay though since they were only $10, which is mad cheep for Vans. Also,

I have a pair of black/white checkered and I took Sharpies and colored all the white squares. Now they are the definition of awesome. I need to recolor them sometime though, they're kind of fading.

picz plz. This seem like they would be even better faded.

I have a pair of typical Black/White Checkered, and a super awesome pair of Argyle Alligator skin ones.  Seriously that is the best description I can think of for them.  Also Chucks are pretty sweet, I got some All Stars or something, basically black leather with black rubber edges/toes, though they have been completely covered in mud and unworn since the Radionhead in MTL.  They are simply to uncomfortable and difficult to do up and dirty to really care to much about.

I have a pair of black chucks that I got in 2002, I think, which still fit and are formed perfectly to my foot, but I think I have the perfect feet for that style of shoe anyway which is very skinny and long.

I also have a pair of knockoff Vans slipons that have stars on them, but not the little stupid bunch of stars crap, it almost just looks like zigzags because it is pretty much just a star inside of a star inside of a star and so on. They are soooo comfy but that's probably because they actually wore out a long time ago and I just keep sticking new Dr. Scholls in em.

BUT TODAY I bought these and a couple pairs of black opaque tights so I can still wear my skirts. I will wear both pairs at once because it is cold and also that will, I assume, make it more opaque.

Uh. Sure, If I can remember. Perhaps after church.
I want to get a bleach pen and undo all the coloring and start over because it could've come out much less crappy. The top of one shoe is all black, for example. I might do that today. After pics, of course.

Yes, those are great shoes! I want nice boots. Also, having feet small enough to fit into kids sizes can be great sometimes. Not that my feet usually are, but I once got a pair of leather Nike Cortez at like half the "real" prize somewhere in Sweden, because the kids size fit perfectly. It was pretty awesome.

Also, anyone have advice for cleaning a white shirt with a design on it? It got some spots on it and I bleach penned them off and now those spots are whiter than the rest of the shirt.

Oxyclean is good for removing stains, specifically ones that are protein-based, like blood, and also wine and mud, but not really for fixing things like this. Spray-N-Wash is good for the rest of the stains, like grass, but again is not good for this kind of thing. And if you have an oil stain oxyclean will be your best bet, but you should pretty much count on your oil-stained clothing to never be the same again.

Anyway, try clorox colour-bleach (or bleach for colours or whatever it is). If that doesn't work and the spots are really obvious, you could try penning the rest of the shirt around the design to make them the same white. I personally don't much like bleach because using it weakens the fibers of your fabric, but it is really good as a last-ditch solution for when you bleed on or get mud on white things and can't get it out any other way and I have soaked stained white things (socks, underwear, etc) in bleach for lack of any other ideas, and it always works. So basically I guess you could use latex or rubber gloves and a plastic tub of bleach solution and soak the shirt in it while holding the picture part out of the water, if you're desperate. The plus side is that then you can throw the shirt in the wash, and dilute the bleach solution and then mop your kitchen floor with it. No waste!

Hey everyone, I need to buy some new bookshelves. When I get back from Ikea and put them together you're all invited to the bookshelf launch party.

Hmm, I'll try washing it again without the bleach on it and see if that makes any difference. I don't want to stand over a tub of bleach and inhale the fumes forever.
