Author Topic: Sweeping Generalizations About You Based on Your Music Taste  (Read 73354 times)

So in the spirit of this thread, let's make fun of each other by stereotyping them based on what music they listen to.

First! Go to your last.fm or whatever you use and post your top (at least) five songs. You can certainly add more. We will stereotype you based on your taste.

Rule! Don't post if you'll get offended that someone is teasing you, and don't cheat!

Here's an example!

1    Acid Bath – Venus Blue    152
2    Current 93 – A Song for Douglas After He's Dead 136
3    Ancient Rites – (Ode to Ancient) Europa 135
4    3 Inches of Blood – Deadly Sinners 132
5    Immortal – Grim and Frostbitten Kingdoms 128
6    Sol Invictus – Kneel to the Cross 125
7    ewigkeit – Strange Volk [Edit]    122
8    King Diamond – The Trees Have Eyes 118
8    My Dying Bride – Sear Me MCMXC III 118
10    Waylander – Sunrise 115

I don't know any of those bands, but going by the names you're a skinny kid in a black t-shirt with incomprehensible lettering who gets moist over 16 minute guitar solos and songs about your D&D character, who is a dwarf who drinks alot.

Here are mine, to start us off
1 Okkervil River – The Velocity of Saul at the Time of His Conversion 85
2 Totally Micheal – ShakeYour Booty or Die 55
3 Beulah – If We Can Land a Man on the Moon, Surely I Can Win Your Heart 45
4 Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 42
5 Animal Collective – Who Could Win a Rabbit full track 39
6 Danielson Famile – Good News For The Pus Pickers 38
7 Bikini Kill – I Like Fucking 31
8 The Decemberists – Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect 29
8 Beat Happening – teenage caveman full track 29
8 The Earlies – Morning Wonder 29
8 Danielson Famile – Rallying The Dominoes 29
8 The Mountain Goats – Palmcorder Yajna 29

(If you aren't able to stereotype me, don't worry; post your own so that way there are more to generalize!)

1. The Magnetic Fields – All My Little Words
2. Okkervil River – Song of Our So-Called Friend

4. The Radio Dept. – The City Limit
5. The Magnetic Fields – I Don't Want to Get Over You
6. TV on the Radio – Love Dog
7. The Wedding Present – Dare
8. Why? – Fatalist Palmistry
9. The Radio Dept. – South Side
10. Okkervil River – It Ends With A Fall

grr is chiiiilllllllll. I'd stereotype you as you probably like to knit a lot and just hang out and watch a movie at home as opposed to going out and getting drunk. If you do go to shows, you prefer assigned seating to general admission. (I already knew you like to knit though)

Just going on random of my library, and ignoring anything I don't listen to, since I don't use lastfm. I'll just do the artist, rather than the song, because I've found that a good amount of the songs I'm getting are not stand-outs.

Witchcraft
Dead Kennedys
Megadeth
Down
Judas Priest
Isis
Clutch
Bruce Springsteen
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Overkill
Iron Maiden

Wow, after a while, I just kept going without writing it down, and I did not get any Agalloch. Odd.

You like beer. Your wardrobe is pretty limited, and one item within it may or may not be a denim jacket. Missing a shower every once in a while probably is not a huge deal to you.

I have to admit that's all basically from the Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Isis is rad.

I listen to things on my Zune, which doesn't keep track of listens, I don't think. And I rarely listen to musics on the computer so Last.fm and the like don't really appeal to me. I was going to get into it, but it was during that time when Last.fm had a client program and it was really just too much hassle.

So here's stuff I've been listening to lately, I suppose, just from memory.

1. Benga - Night
2. Radiohead - Sail to the Moon
3. Alexander Brandon - UNATCO
4. Battles - Race: In
5. Quiet Village - Too High to Move
6. Midnight Juggernauts - Shadows
7. Buraka Som Sistema - Black Diamond
8. The Bug ft. Tippa Irie - Angry
9. Aphex Twin - Jynweythek Ylow
10. Assorted half-songs and ideas that I've come up with in Reason

9. Dungen
10. Teenage Bottlerocket

I'm taking the easy way out on this one and giving you the link to something you've probably seen before. On the plus side, that one is probably the one I'd be most likely to date.

What about orgasmic chemistry.

I can expand the definition of that if anyone wants to roll around to my Fortress of Love.

1 The Mountain Goats
2 Modest Mouse
3 Fugazi
4 Tangerine Dream
5 Silkworm
6 Belle and Sebastian
7 Sleater-Kinney
8 Denki Groove
9 Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
10 Polvo

Assume all you want.

You care too much about silly rock music. Your chucks are worn but clean, jeans are tight but not skinny, t-shirts obscure, and you have no upper body strength. Your hair is in your eyes. Sometimes you talk a lot about musicians that your friends haven't heard of.
