Hanners b-day. turning 22.

The other QC characters b-days have never been revealed...why's that, you think?

Steve looks like the kind of guy who did choir in school, i.e. the kind of guy who can't sing.
Hanners and Marty need to start jamming again. Don't know where Amir's gone, but he's probably a phone call away with those slaps...and masculine, hairy forearms.

How do you through a beer bottle ironically?  Does it have to be Pabst Blue Ribbon?

Jeph should be very proud of that line.

And it's even better that he gave the line to Hannelore.

Natasha was definitely more of a hindrance than a band member. Unless her parents' potential financial contributions could be credited to her.

If you might as well shave off your beard, then Hannelore needs to cut off all her hair, as a beard is the same thing. (Seriously, I hope Hannelore DOESN'T get that idea.)

Hannelore DID get that idea, almost, after reading a Wikipedia article about head lice.
I couldn't find the strip, but one of those readers who cross-reference these strips should be able to pull it up quickly.

Only on the face and forearms. And head.
And yeah, they did need to get rid of her. It sucks being in a band with somebody who sucks and seems to make a point of getting no better, I know that pain.

Also, Marty is looking exceptionally broad-shouldered in that first panel...for him anyway. Has he been working out?

You, sir, have no shame. I like that.

If Marten's not a good guitarist, and their other guitarist was Nat, no wonder things are going nowhere.

Is this the cue for Enter the Sven?

Hmmm...  Sven's countrified guitar might be just what they need on Death Comes To The Unicorn Prince.

Although I think they need more bagpipe.

I wouldn't think that country guitar would work with an Indie rock band, though maybe Sven is more versatile than that?  In any case, yeah, it wouldn't be likely right now, but things will probably blow over to the point that he could join in a couple of months (in comic time) down the road without much awkwardness.

I was under the impression Sven just wrote country songs for profit. I think he performs indie. Certainly he could match Marten's 'Indie cred' way back whenever, so we know he's well versed in Indie music.

And, yes, Cold, maximum awkwardness is what I had in mind.

and for beerthrowing, I recommend 10w30. cause that beer is not for drinking.

Ok, I've officially gone too far.  Marten looked....HUNKY...in the first panel today.  I mean, I know it was just perspective, but he suddenly had the wide shoulder/narrow hip thing going.  Optical illusion or not, it was effective.  I am disturbed.  The last time I got lusty thought for a comic character, it was Samuri Jack and I stopped watching because it was WRONG.

Oh, yeah, Sven in the band...hm, could even be played as a method for trying to be back with Faye.  Or just increase Faye's torment.  It has possibilities.

And yes, I thought Blues Brothers.  Need more chicken wire, though.  They don't usually put chicken wire over a karaoke stage, although it might help.

Or a Schaefer beer. I think it only comes in cans though... the bottle costs more than the beer inside, or should. When someone throws a Schaefer beer at you, you know his heart's not in it.

Finally! Friday's strip... the whole being-ahead-of-Jeph's-time thing can be confusing at times, and particularly when I'm feeling vacant as hell. But woot! I'm pleased to see reasonableness on Faye's part and hope to see some sort of real communication between her and Sven. I do think the way she treated Sven was shitty, even if it was an all-round non-functional situation. Barely acknowledging him as someone you like? Being unwilling to be with him in public? Niiice.

Anyway, I sort of hope they develop a real relationship but I think it unlikely. Bring on Monday!

Yep!  Faye Progress!  Also landmine jokes.

I think there is a point after a breakup/relationship fail where you either do a recount of the situation without hyperbole and move forward or you continue to run around screaming "OH, I've been WOUNDED" until no one listens to you anymore.  I'm glad Faye took the "recount" path.  The other is boring.

I'm not sure if I'd like to see a Faye/Sven rematch, unless we get to see some major Sven maturation (well, even a little would be a lot for Sven).  However, I AM looking forward to the first time they meet.

Ok, some jumping up and down here.  Your comment hit me sideways. :-o

What truth?  Who in their right mind WANTS to tell someone else they did something awful and acted like an ass?  As for planning, who plans that sort of thing?  You do it or you don't do it. No one had a gun to his head.  Lydia's threats were hardly a major force except to perhaps point out that honesty was the better way.  In fact, that might have been a preferred method of delivering the bad news -- have someone else do it and just slither away until everything blew over.  He wasn't trapped into the confession -- he invited her to his place to tell her.  He accepted the consequences.  What else is he supposed to do?

Seriously, how would Faye react if someone said to her "Well, he didn't WANT to tell you, and he didn't PLAN to tell you, but he still told you face to face."  Probably with a big "And your point is...?"

OK, jumping up and down is over.  Wanna cookie?

Here:

Hanners and Head Lice

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. Though for once her fears were founded. I hated when I had to shave off my hair when I was little. Though it made me get over it much quicker.

===================
Now I'm skipping ahead to todays comic. I honestly do think that Faye getting back with Sven would be a good idea, if you end up knowing a persons pitfalls, and what his/her limits are, the relationship has a much better chance of lasting longer. Come to think of it, I don't know of many people who are ever on the same terms after an incident like that, if faye can manage it, she's got some major Chutzpah. Still, I do wish for a "better and more stable" person for Faye, but frankly, I think she might find happiness with him.

Eh, I am getting tired of the Faye/Sven drama though.

Believe it or not, I actually want  to see them get back together.  I think that despite everything both of them suit each other and I really think Sven is kinda feeling like he's really screwed up badly this time and I think he wouldn't be feeling that way if he really was his old pre-Faye Manwhore self.

As for Faye, she must have some feelings for him otherwise she wouldn't be feeling quite as down as she is over the whole matter.

I can't imagine either of them being at the stage right now where they should get back together, not that they were really together to begin with.  Down the line, maybe.  They'd both have to grow up before that would be a good idea.  Of course what makes good relationship sense and what makes good drama are entirely different... :P

Bring on the drama!

Indeed. Being able to forgive Sven because he was honest is a step towards being friends, not a step back towards his bed.

Glad to see that Faye's actually seeing sense, instead of being clouded by the thought of Sven cheating on her. It's a big step up for Sven, admitting all this, too

Our characters have evolved. Aw

Scary, isn't it?

I agree, Sven would have to do some MAJOR growing up, and Faye would have to overcome some huge issues.  Still, it would be nice if they could make it to being friends.

I dunno, if the connection is there, it's possible to forgive a lot of stuff, grow from it, and go on.

I think about this shit far too much.

You crack me up. When Marten got his hair cut all I could think about is that he is looking more and more like Trent Reznor. And that is something I find oddly attractive. I'm an emo goth kid  underneath it all.  So yeah the first panel of yesterdays comic... he's more Reznor-ish than usual. HAWWWWT. And creepy.

You aren't alone. I'm totally in love with Vash the Stampede on Trigun. I want him to be alive and hot and in a red trench and in cool sunglasses and eating donuts* at my house right now.

*No euphemism was expressed or implied. I was being very un-creepily literal. Perverts.

Here:

Hanners and Head Lice

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. Though for once her fears were founded. I hated when I had to shave off my hair when I was little. Though it made me get over it much quicker.

Hmmm, knowing someones "pitfalls" are all well and good so long as they are pitfalls that are acceptable within a relationship. Pitfalls like "He sometimes says embarassing things" or "he's really forgetful" are good to know about your partner; something you have to work with. Others such as "he will occaisonally cheat on me" or "he is a child rapist" or "he might murder me an eat my flesh" are things that, if you know, should make you not want to date that person.

My bit on the "was he going to tell her or not" debate... He confessed he wasnt going to tell her, then when his intern said "if you don't, I will" it seemed only damage control to confess after that- to do the "right thing" rather than be caught lying and cheating. Maybe he would have told her either way, but that seems unlikely from how pissed off he was at the intern afterwards, as if she forced him to confess, and blamed her. Just because she didn't hold a gun to his head doesnt mean he didn't feel forced into doing it.
