I'm only up to Children of Dune. What book does "Her Weirding Ways" appear in? No spoilers, please, just tell me which book.

I don't think it's a direct quote, just a play off of the weirding way concept, and more from the movie at that.

Like the look of Hanners. It evokes the observers scene dialogue from Independence Day in may brain.... right after the 10 Meg nuclear bomb goes off under the ship and that observers tank gets blown away by the blast... *scream* "Too neeeear, we are goddamn too near to be comfortable..."

i am a particular fan of the way dora looks in this comic, all freaked out and crouched behind the counter. and it goes without saying that today's hannelore face is a win. hanners faces are excellence. good comic. absurd and cute.

not to mention i suppose it would answer my question from earlier, regarding whether or not faye was delighted that she had some new material to work with, or whether or not she was delighted he was caring/sensitive/blah blah. although i can say i think it's both, since caring and sensitive people give faye a lot more material to work with, anyway. i do think she flirts with angus, in the way that when a girl pushes you off the swings in kindergarten and punches you in the arm it means she likes you. she shows her liking for people by giving them a hard time.

Err I'm no native english speaker, but my dict says nothing about dislike.

You can throw scorn at your friends, too, if you're especially nasty ... and I think for that, Faye absolutely qualifies.

Scorn

–noun
1. open or unqualified contempt; disdain
2. an object of derision or contempt.
3. a derisive or contemptuous action or speech.

–verb (used with object)
4. to treat or regard with contempt or disdain.
5. to reject, refuse, or ignore with contempt or disdain.

–verb (used without object)
6. to mock; jeer.

—Idiom
7. laugh to scorn, to ridicule; deride.

Kind of a toss up whether this was a verb without an object or an idiom.  Either way, it was apparently more satisfying than Sven ever was.

Sweet Tits has been in the background of a couple other comics as well. I'm pretty sure that is her. I like her. She's filled with righteous indignation.

Pretty sure the "Touristy Crap" shop has been seen several times before in the background of other comics.

@Juniper Jade; That's Angus, he of the Faye-bothering. Wil is the one annoying Penne-lope.

YES.  Actually, I would like a t-shirt of that one.   8-)  I love that it's knocking his glasses off, and the girl in the background (whether that's Sweet Tits or not) bugging at the sight is perfect.

RE: the similarity in appearance between Angus and Wil; I think maybe Jeph has started leaving off Wil's glasses in an attempt to distinguish the two, but their hair is sorta similar in color and volume, making them look a wee bit too samey-samey.  Angus has the sideburns, though, and Wil's hair seems slightly curly, plus their noses are different (Wil's has that bump in the middle), so I guess it's a matter of squinting at the details and paying attention to context.

I look forward to seeing Angus' reaction to this next week -- will he be shamed?  Or will he re-enter CoD with a similar expression of ecstasy as Faye's for having been so thoroughly scorned?  Mwahaha.

Haha, that's the thing though... I didn't notice his glasses in the first panel and I looked at panel 3 and saw he wasn't wearing glasses so I said "Oh, it's Wil!" Now I realized his glasses were knocked off by the huge SCOOOOOORN! that came a thundering from Faye.

Oh, that one is actually quite easy to understand. Wether you have negative or positive feelings for someone, in either case that person is occupying your mind. Therefore its a small step from love to hate and back.

Faye had a Scorngasm.
NeverQuiteGoth has coined the word of the week.

So, does Faye despise everyone who cries at movies? She might well have the attitude of "So what have YOU got to cry about?!" Or was she just waiting for something, anything that could be used as a weapon?

She grew up in the South. She might have absorbed some cultural ideas about what a Real Man does and doesn't do.

Getting more speculative, is she afraid of crying because it's a reminder of her own grief and weakness? Have we seen any character other than Faye and Angus crying?

yeah, threesome girl has more natural-red hair and the girl in the new comic has more crayon-firetruck-red hair, but i can't deny the resemblance.
