See, in Australia that one was just called Die Hard 4.0, so utilising the "clever" number-letter swap already extant in the game title, if they were to emulate the most recent Die Hard film then in Australia the game would have to be called Left 4.0 Dead.

Also, anyone hear about that petition people are signing to boycott L4D2? Apparently the game's creators said they weren't going to make a second one, that they'd just keep patching L4D1 forever. And people are pissed.

Valve never said anything of the sort. They said they'd continue to update the original and provide new content (which they are doing), people just aren't used to Valve releasing a sequel so very soon after making the original, and nerds sure know how to overreact.

I imagine a good 80% of the people on the "boycott L4D2" steam group will be playing it on launch day.

That's actually kind of cool. That's always been the problem with Versus because players would stick together making any attempt at them near impossible.

Well, to be fair that is what they are supposed to do. But yeah, having another tool in the arsenal is good. I hope they tweak the melee weapons a bit. At the moment it looks like the only one worth a damn is the axe, because the others don't really do all that much damage.

It's been my experience that the only real reason why you'd have consistently bad rounds as infected is because you're not working together. All the special infected have drawbacks and you can only really hit hard if you work well together. A good boomer is absolutely essential.

although a guy wearing a white suit in such an enviroment while fending off hordes of zombies does seem an odd artistic choice. either they had to build in a realistic dirtying effect or it will come across as somewhat ridiculus.

One of the problems that faced L4D in pre-release builds was that the Player Character models were practically indistinguishable from zombie models in terms of color palette, which led to increased friendly fire incidents, and friendly fire at difficulties above Normal is a serious danger. In the retail version that's still occasionally a problem for characters other than Louis, who is easily identifiable by his white dress shirt and red tie.

As you can see, at least the concept art for characters in L4D2 features colors that are bright and high-contrast in relation to the world - white, pink, yellow, teal, and a cleaner gray. I would wager that it's a design decision as much as an aesthetic one.

I think the zombies in that level, or just the special regular types known as Mudmen, walk like that. I've been kind of freaking out about that level cause their purpose is to be almost unseen when you're wading through the swamp. I guess they can go full speed through the mud and water all crouched down like that.

In your defense, Jens, I have read an article in the past about people already decrying the "racism" in the game. It is ridiculous. It is a mixed cast killing mixed zombies. I think that some of these people pore over screenshots and look for a reason to cry foul in the hopes of raising the recognition/profile/"brand" of whatever organisation they are acting for.

Like, ok sure. Taking a stand against racism is an honorable enough thing to do, but I Just wish that some of the people involved would take a more contextual approach than "oh hey, there is a white dude shooting zombies that look black in this one picture" and ignoring the other shots, some of which include a black dude or lady beating on zombies that appear white.

Oh hey, on that note why are all the special infected white? RACISM.
