No no, it was not to criticise your taste. It was to point out that AanAllein wasn't the only one who chose this one over Funeral.
It's not necessarily that I like Neon Bible's music better -- I've listened to Neighbourhood #3 more than their all their sophomore album combined -- but it was by far the best-produced album I've listened to this decade. Funeral was very much a debut album, and despite being a
very damn good thank you very much, it just doesn't hold a candle to Neon Bible in its complexity. Funeral reminds me of the film Amιlie, whereas Neon Bible is my Children Of Men.
What I found most powerful about Neon Bible is that it was an album I could listen to with my eyes closed, letting the world they had created bounce around inside my head. It's an album I can contemplate, and it's an album I can pick apart piece by piece and see everything beautiful about it.
