Well, we won - but in all honesty it was a win that occurred because Aussie just about self destructed in the batting just as bad as we did.  Let's be honest, if they hadn't we would have been looking at a 'Down Trou' for the entire series.

Okay, let us review:

The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl is the championship game for NCAA's Division III men's football.

The results of the last six games:

2005 - Mount Union College 35, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 28.
2006 - Mount Union College 35, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 16.
2007 - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 31, Mount Union College 21.
2008 - Mount Union College 31, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 26.
2009 - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 38, Mount Union College 28.
2010 - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 31, Mount Union College 21.

On Saturday, the 2011 edition of the game (Stagg Bowl XXXIX) will be played once again at Salem, Virginia.

Would you care to guess which two teams are playing in said championship game?

Hint: One of them is my alma mater; the other is the Purple Raiders.

 :-D

In Europe they would have both been promoted to NCAA Division II ages ago. Of course, they might have gotten relegated back down again (for some reason that is called a 'French visit' to the upper division over here).

There is no such thing as promotion/relegation in the US, though.

Re: WE LIKE SPORTS

No, because it wouldn't be a good thing for UWW to "move up" a class.

See, schools don't "move up" or "move down" in the NCAA's divisions because they want a challenge or play better; it's because they want to do so, usually out of financial reasons. And, it generally doesn't happen in the lower divisions of the NCAA (unless the lower division no longer operates in the sport in question -see D3 Hockey).

This isn't like Appalachian State deciding to "move up" to Division I-FBS from I-FCS, or anything like that. Teams are assigned to divisions based (generally) on the size of the institution. Yes, UWW is a larger school because of where it is located, but it is much smaller than the three Division I schools that they are located between (Wisconsin, Marquette, UW-Milwaukee).

Whitewater would have issues trying to play a Division II squad like Winston-Salem State. They'd definitely have issues against a team like The Citadel or Prairie View A&M. And Florida Atlantic would probably be ahead 35-10 at the half (and they're the ones who lost 44-0 to Michigan State).

Remember: Divisions in the NCAA (and the NAIA) aren't there for movement of a school; they're there to keep schools of the same size playing each other.

Going pre-Premier League, he has scored in every single league season since 1990-91.

Adelaide lost to Sydney-A last night, at the oddly shaped ex-olympic stadium. Chris Gayle hit eleven sixes on his way to a ton, which is just ridiculous. Nice that the Windies are coming back in at least some form though, they may be a rubbish test side now but just physically they make a good short-form side.

Great low-risk move of the offseason:

The Marlins aquiring Carlos Zambrano, with Chicago covering all but $2million of his 2012 contract.

I was actually a bit surprised to hear about the record. I know that 90 mph is already pretty good, but I also remember a tv clip from the 70s, where they claimed that Bobby Hull can fire at about 200 km/h (or 125 mph). This was before the era of composite sticks IIRC. May be somebody made a mistake converting miles to kilometers back then?

The theory is that composites can shoot the puck faster because of the torque-to-weight ratio.

Don't know if this is a reliable source or not? They say that Bobby Hull has been clocked with a 119 mph slap shot. Not quite the 200 km/h mark, but close. With a wooden stick, too. Chara's record is the best ever effort at NHL all star skill contests (they didn't have a slap shot contest in Hull senior's time). The corresponding KHL record is slightly higher than Chara's figure.

April 20, 2012 100th Birthday of Fenway Park
Will commemorate 100 years of history at Fenway Park with a large-scale pre-game ceremony. The Red Sox will play the New York Yankees, same team (then the New York Highlanders) they played on April 20, 1912. Both teams will wear 1912 throwback uniforms

How can that be, you may ask, considering it is still snowy and cold in many parts of the country?

Tis very simple.
