I might cheer on the Vikings if they didn't employ Brett Favre. I've gotten so sick of him that I just cannot root for a team he's on at this point.

Yeah, it's a real shame about the media circus that comes attached to Favre, because the Vikings are actually a really fun team to watch right now if you just mute the announcers (Gruden did everything but propose on that Monday night game). They make a lot of big plays on both sides of the ball but they're not so much better than other competent teams that the game turns into a snoozer. By any estimation they're lucky as hell not to be 4-2 right now.

I enjoyed the film, but I do find it amusing that it's going to potentially create quite a large new audience for the book, seeing as how emotionally the two are pretty much polar opposites. They say he won't be back until late November at the earliest. Unless the backup plays a fuckin' hell of a lot better than he did against Atlanta, the Vikings are pretty boned against competent teams, since corner is basically the one area with no depth that I'm aware of. I would have been happier with literally any other player getting injured just because we have a lot of depth on the team everywhere but in the defensive backfield. Favre getting hurt? Would suck, and Packers fans would say "I TOLD YOU!" (Which, is patently ridiculous, since Brett Favre's corpse is a better football player than Tarvaris Jackson looked like last year), but I think we could limp through some games that way with Rosenfels or maybe even a slightly improved Jackson. Adrian Peterson? Love the guy, but he's overrated and Chester Taylor is pretty good and actually more versatile. We'd be fine. Jared Allen, Ray Edwards or one of the Williamses? We have tons of depth there, so I wouldn't be worried. Even our backup tackles are good. Best line rotation in the league, if not the best individual linemen. Losing another offensive linemen would hurt, but it'd be no worse than Green Bay's situation. Linebackers? Already went a year without E.J. and we lived. But Winfield? Once he left the field Atlanta quickly responded by passing for roughly 8,000 yards in the second half. His ankle is the turd in my 6 and 0 team's punch bowl.

You know who's team is definitely not going to lose today? Mine. The Redskins will, in fact, avoid tacking on losses at least two Sundays in a row.

We're totally fucking boned tomorrow, though. We play our second competent team of the season, and the first team we'll encounter that has wins on their record before we play them. Good luck everyone else today. If you guys could just try to send a little bit of luck in the direction of DC tomorrow, that would be great. Who doesn't want Philly to lose?

Vikings did pretty alright. Still don't like how jittery the secondary looks against the long ball though. Wouldn't be surprised to lose at Green Bay.

Also, man, ESPN has some shitty writers. I know they like to just grab a box score and pull a story out of their ass sometimes, but they wrote that a defender stepped in front of a pass intended for Chester Taylor and made a pick, which really isn't what happened at all. Favre threw it ever so slightly high and Taylor plain botched the catch. It skimmed off his hands and a defender caught the deflection as it went further down the field. It's really hard to put that one on the QB, in all honesty, and Taylor is a good receiver so it's not like that kind of thing happens all the time. It was just the kind of goofy play that happens to even good players once or twice over the course of the season. It was a heartbreaker and sealed the game for the Steelers, but it wasn't exactly a boneheaded epic fail type play.

Also, how about the Saints with Drew Brees to thank for four turnovers so far? They're doing a great job of trying to come back, and it's easily within their reach, as long as Brees doesn't continue fucking it up every chance he gets.

I just hate how with standard ESPN fantasy scoring being what it is, Brees will probably end up being worth a bunch of points anyway despite all those turnovers provided that he merely makes a few td pass or two to even it out. And my opponent this week has him. Blech.

On the bright side, at least I have Aaron Rodgers, who completely owned the Browns, completing 75% of his passes and posting a 155.4 passing rating. But he "only" put up 248 yards due to being rested on the bench for the 4th, so like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if Brees ends up somehow nearly matching him in points. fml

I'm going to say something that will surprise most of you. Last night's Skins/Eagles game actually gave me a little bit of hope. Aside from some really huge fuck-ups (monumentally huge), we actually looked pretty damned good. He just missed snaps, threw a stupid pass, decided that we didn't like holding onto the football while running and muffed a punt. All you have to do is remove a couple of those plays and it would have been a football game. Going into a bye week, I'm actually fairly confident that we can get something going, as long as Daniel Snyder doesn't get antsy and start firing people. Also, Cooley being out is big, because our backup is completely and totally unable to block.

Oh, man, the Clippers are depressing. Their owner sucks, but put that aside for a second. They keep drafting guys who are pretty promising right? High draft picks that come in and tear it up in summer leagues and have all the physical talent needed to succed. Then their knees explode.

Man, now I'm bummed just thinking about it. Shaun Livingston has never been the same since his injury. Not even close. I've seen soccer injuries that looked as bad or worse, but none that were actually as catastrophic damage wise as his. Basically, everything in his knee became disconnected from the other parts.

The craziest thing is, this was only like a year or so ago and he's playing again, and playing pretty damn well!

EDIT: In case you can't fully comprehend what has happened there, his foot was hanging on by tendons and skin.

Dude, bone injuries heal way better than soft tissue injuries. I'd say broken bones are no problem as far as playing again.

Yeah, and unfortunately for Shaun Livingston, he tore his ACL, PCL, plus had severe MCL sprain. That's 3 out of 4 major knee ligaments, for those counting at home. That his kneecap came loose and was quickly followed by his tibia is sadly almost an afterthought.
