I recently got into Tempest from the mediaf!re thread, and I must say I really love the style. I've always been a big fan of Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys, though Im not sure if those two can be called "Celtic Rock"...

I'd be grateful if someone were to direct me towards some more Celtic Rock, I must say the single Tempest album I have is not enough to sate my thirst.

Along the line of DKM and Flogging Molly and bands that are more "celtic punk", check out Flatfoot 56. I saw them open for Street Dogs last fall and they were outstanding.

Well DKM and Flogging molly are good, but as you said might not be as celtic rock as punk etc.
I saw DKM in concert and they had two other bands that were pretty good.
The Tossers and The Briggs.
They both are like DKM and Flogging Molly but a little different and still pretty good.
Now if you were looking for folk this would be a hell of a lot easier, there are a ton of celtic folk groups out there.

Not a very well known band, but The Gentlemen. I saw them open for the Bouncing Souls at a free show for my school and they kicked a ridiculous amount of ass. In fact, at one point in the show their singer and I traded fedoras. A good time was had by all.

I'm glad you enjoyed Tempest, I was the one who posted the album in the mediafire thread. They are one of my favorites bands, I think I've seen them live about 5-6 times, if not more. Usually see them at least once or twice a year. I avoided doing a big discog post in the thread, but I'll post another one of their albums soon.

Besides the bands already covered, I recommend Real McKenzies. They are like Dropkick Murphys but Scottish instead of Irish. The Skels are also nice. And Amadan, who are bit more folky.

And if you want to get really out there, try some Celtic ska, The Trojans

I've totally met Leif Sorbye on numerous occasions. He used to play with the New Age/folk outfit Golden Bough, who I've seen and interacted with at least 20 times (Paul Espinoza lets me play his guitars every time I go to one of their performances). It's not exactly rock, but Golden Bough have done some pretty amazing things. They have a fantastic Christmas album, and they also have an album with music that celebrates pre-Christian Celtic winter traditions and holidays. I listen to it every year during the holiday season.

Ah, Golden Bough. They used to come to the Celtic Games here in Phoenix, and I bought CDs from them every time. My daughter had a vinyl of Boatman's Daughter, and when I asked for it, they said that they had not brought one with them, so I ordered it from them. (This was before the internet, guys). I told them I needed a CD because I had worn out my copy. Margie Butler was at their booth. She said "Tape?" I said "Vinyl." She said, "You've been a fan for a loooong time." And I have.

Man, so many stories about them. They came to my elementary school because my mom, who was PTA president at the time, decided "Hey wouldn't it be awesome for the kids to see something this rad?" So my mom got in contact with the group, PTA had held fundraisers specifically to pay for such Rad Things, and bam, Golden Bough came to my school. Totally got to chill with them after the assembly was over. Got a hug from Margie

I still like to go up and hug her when I see her, she recognizes me every time.

When I went to see DKM they brought along Mad Caddies as support and were outshone in pretty much every way.

It's like, I hear them so constantly on the radio and TV commercials and run into them so much I'm just tired of them. I don't think they're terrible, they're just a band that survives being listened to a million times over. They're like John Mellencamp - I probably would have really liked him when he first came out but goddamn am I sick of hearing him.
