Operation GLASGOW RESCUE
« on: 28 Dec 2009, 07:37 »

Darryl and I are stranded (mostly due to a lack of foresight on my part) in Glasgow, three days too early, without somewhere definite to stay. We were wondering if anyone might be available nearby who'd be willing and able to find us and help us avoid being stabbed in the eyes and organs, not to mention finding somewhere we can stay safely until the 30th - we do have money and are able to pay our way to some degree - but are completely lost in the city centre, in the Museum of Modern Art in... Royal Exchange Square? (hence the internetting ability despite our predicament). But we are in desperate and dire need of aid and assistance. Please (if you know of a solution) contact us on something something telephone number. Aware as I am of the naivety of publishing my phone number on the internet, I would rather fork out for a new sim card in the future than freeze to death on the snowy and sanctuaryless streets of Glasgow.

In the words of Milla Jovovich in that one movie,
Please... Halp!

Yeah, if I was ever to be stuck somewhere hoping a kindly soul would help me out I'd hope I was in Glasgow over pretty much anywhere else.

Tommy has it in one, and the ease with which we found somewhere to stay is testament to his earlier statement - Glasgow is really friendly and we were helped along the way by a plethora of engaging and understanding individuals. We are safe and happy and eagerly awaiting meet-ups. Sorry if any of you were overly alarmed, and thank you to all the individuals (oli I am so sorry for the hue and cry on your facebook earlier) who rushed out of the blue to care for our well-being.

In short, we are safe and merry and well and sorry for any inconvenience our ultimately needless panic caused.

The secret to glassings is to put on a football jersey for Rangers or Celtic. Then you enter a secret, terrifying shadow-Glasgow.

Only in certain parts of the city...

Then again there are areas where you'd get glassed or stabbed for looking weird...  :-(
