haha, how about that.
you know, this reminds me of a certain sailor moon episode. Usagi and Chibiusa get their ages swapped (i was gonna say bodies, but then chibiusa ended up looking hotter than she would if that were the case) and some hilarity similar to this one ensues, albeit that one was no fantasy

Yesss! I saw her hair in this comic and went "... Chibiusa?" for about half a second, then the theoretical sexing became obvious and my brain burned that out.
I would like to keep my favorite anime since I was a child... innocent. :/

Why? Sailor Moon porn is wonderful

I'm also not turned on by normal-sized Momo-tan, but I don't feel the need to protest too much.

The thing that intrigued me off the bat about Momo-san was what haikupoet brought up. I've always been fascinated by the idea of an artificial human, specificly, the biomechanics of reinventing the sentient humanoid. 1:1 scale wall-art of the internal workings of Momo-san would not go unpurchased.

Yay, we're back to squeeing over the comic rather angsting over the characters relationship troubles. Makes me feel kinda bad for my part in said angst...  :|

Anyway! Cool comic, it is now confirmed that Hanners has resolved her personal space issues at least a little bit. I'm afraid the shippers may have more ammo now, though. This and the last one must be driving them happy.

I disagree with Marten.  This is definitely a step forward on the no-touchy front for Hanners.

And about the same on the socially awkward/inept scale, not a step back.  She's still not in Marigold territory...

She's let Dora touch her before, hasn't she?

Two travelers from the idle rich class were recruited in a secret operation to take over highlands belonging to an eccentric Arabian tribal leader. They failed. Neither leisured tourist seized the weird sheikh's heights.

I always did think the "i before e except after c" rule had no place in a scientific society.

i agree on that. how old is that rule anyway? surely it must be obsolete by now considering the importation of new words from other language, not to mention the whole cloth creation of new ones. language is not static and must be left free to adapt as it will in order to remain relevant to an evolving society. the alternative is double plus ungood.

There's flirting, there's FLIRTING and then there's just goofing around.

I'm thinking this may have fallen into to the latter, but maybe I'm wrong.

I think you're right, but I think these subtle distinctions pass waaay over Hanners' head. Lack of experience and all.

Come to think of it, Marigold made a similar mistake, confusing Angus' goofing around for flirting.

I think Hanners is still a couple of years (real time) away from being able to be fucking anybody.

At least this didn't wind up with a black eye for Marten.

Now, if he'd grabbed Hanners, dipped her, and planted a big lip-to-lip smooch on her... THAT would have been flirting.

So what's going on with Momo?

Crossed wirings caused by rough handling    - 12 (17.6%)
Overloaded cuteness circuits    - 3 (4.4%)
She's been hanging around Marigold too long    - 9 (13.2%)
Sven looks too much like Magical Love Gentleman    - 40 (58.8%)
Hannelore somehow uploaded a "crush" virus to her server    - 4 (5.9%)

Total Voters: 68

At least this didn't wind up with a black eye for Marten.

Now, if he'd grabbed Hanners, dipped her, and planted a big lip-to-lip smooch on her... THAT would have been flirting.

Marten didn't get a black eye from the last time he touched her (which, btw, was when we first met Momo). However, if he would have done the dip-and-smooch, he'd be in traction for a month... STRIP-time.

That's not stippling; it's auto-dithering. But yes, he has made the highlights more realistic. In fact, almost every surface in this strip is dithered. Methinks he's reached the point where he needs to start using 24-bit PNGs instead of the indexed kind, or switch to JPEG or something.

Hanners' hair looks almost like it did at the beginning, back when her OCD was more like real OCD and less like Adrian Monk Syndrome. Does this mean she's finally coming full circle?

Neither leisured tourist seized the weird sheikh's heights.

I always did think the "i before e except after c" rule had no place in a scientific society.

I think that sentence has all the exceptions, no?

That's why I rprefer science.  Rules/laws have no exceptions.  You can't get a waiver for gravity, the prime factorization of a number doesn't change depending on case or tense, and chemical reactions don't slow down on the last Tuesday of every month.  If something doesn't follow an established pattern, it's not an exception, it's a counter-example, and you change the rule...

But there are some easy mnemonics.  One of my favorites comes from a chance encounter with an English prof on a stairwell during finals when I was a grad student.  He was griping about the final essays he was grading.

"Did you know that 'its' is always spelled with an apostrophe now?"

"It is?"

And he broke up laughing.  It was unintended, but I've never forgotten when not to use an apostrophe in 'its'!

Well, at least it wasn't one step forward, two steps back -- progress is progress, so yay Hanners!  Very cute strip.  I also really liked the background in the last three panels.

That may have been a very mild form of flirting, but of the harmless mostly-goofing-around kind.  It will take awhile for Hanners to get all the nuances.  And considering the way Dora reacted initially to the Cosette situation, maybe Hanners should worry . . .  I can see it now: Dora's all "Hannelore flirted with Marten, and she used to stalk him, must . . . kill . . . but she's so cute and I want to protect her, gah . . ."  Then Dora passes out from brainmelt and wakes up to find Pintsize groping her.  >_>  What?  It could happen . . . maybe . . . (OK, probably not.)

And a dip-and-smooch is not flirting, it's smooching, duh.  Flirting is one part verbal, one part eye contact/body language, and one part trivial body contact (aka shoulder, arm, hand, knee, possibly ear).  It's also 100% dependent on context.

Now perhaps Hanners can give Momo some tips on how to be immune to Sven's Care Bear Stare or whatever.

Hanners' hair looks almost like it did at the beginning, back when her OCD was more like real OCD and less like Adrian Monk Syndrome. Does this mean she's finally coming full circle?

That actually came up during the u-stream last night.  She is looking more like that first meeting in the bar's restroom.  No problems with touching back then - straddling Marten and all...

But she was on meds that were giving her problems at the time, if I remember correctly.  Now, she's getting better.  It may still be slightly chemically enhanced (I imagine she's still on something), but it's at her own agonizingly slow pace.

And Marten's response should really be, "Naw, we were just goofin' around", with something about how there's no need to worry about it.  Then maybe an offer to go down to the coffee shop and show Hanner's that Dora's OK about it.

'Cause otherwise, Hanners will still worry...

She's let Dora touch her before, hasn't she?

But Dora's not...a...a...a BOY!

Hmm. You already know about my theory concerning Dora's hair length. Do we need one for Hannelore, too?

But she was on meds that were giving her problems at the time, if I remember correctly.  Now, she's getting better.  It may still be slightly chemically enhanced (I imagine she's still on something), but it's at her own agonizingly slow pace.
That's so much less entertaining than thinking a few passes with scissors might change everything. And it has the added downer of probably being correct.

As for Hanners being "Monk-like," I'd guess that in addition to her usual battery of anxieties, she'd added dealing with a completely new environment, and, worse, one that was far less stable then the space-station. That could explain her exaggerated OCD manifestations,  the heavy meds she was on when Hanners first talked to Marten—an attempt to deal with the repercussions of the change as she ventured outside her apartment—and her gradual improvement as she became more accustomed to her surroundings. I'd suspect Hannelore's made that adjustment (as well as getting the best-effect dosages of her meds nailed down) and is now making actual progress on her OCD itself.

Of course, it may also have to do with the inescapable fact that she's not real. But I digress.

Backing you up, there is evidence from the strip that Hannelore is sensitive to changes in her environment. When she woke up at Sven's, her first reaction was "Gah! Strange place! Strange place!"

Now, if he'd grabbed Hanners, dipped her, and planted a big lip-to-lip smooch on her... THAT would have been flirting.

Man, when you flirt, you flirt HARD.

Neither leisured tourist seized the weird sheikh's heights.

I always did think the "i before e except after c" rule had no place in a scientific society.

I think that sentence has all the exceptions, no?
