Thanks!

I've noticed that since the latest update zombies don't try to break down wooden doors any more. This may be a bug, but for now it's a very nice bug.  :-D
According to the Mojang bug tracker, this is intended. They might break down doors only occasionally now. I like that, it means that villagers aren't immediately doomed to be exterminated by zombies the moment night falls on a village.

to whom it concerns: Thank You for building a pier.

I made a bunch of bows and arrows for the community, and a seperate bin for armor and weapons only.

oh, and a diving board from my upper deck.

Kudos and Thanks to Karin/Skipta for showing me her SkyCastle.

The zombies swim across the lake, get under the pier, and drown themselves. It's super cute!

I'm working a bit on the area around the first station on the South subway line. I have the crude beginnings of a surface station built, and I'm going to add a pier and a lighthouse as time permits.

Man, just checked out CSM's big ol' oil platform fortress. It's pretty intense looking.

Also, should anyone get swamped by cave spiders in the southern tunnels, that was not my fault, I did not go exploring in some of the off shoot and I most definitely did not fall into a den of them and set them all free.

...I can't believe I did too.  :psyduck:

For those of you both curious and brave, I uploaded a save here with a fully-commented layout of how the cobblestone machine (aka the COBBLEMAX 3000) works.  I'll build one underground near the map origin for public use once I have a few more stacks of obsidian.

ETA: I just realized I labeled the pulse length from the monostable circuits wrong.  Oh well.  The repeaters are set correctly though which is what matters.

Since there's four planks to a log, storing them in log form until you need them is also more space efficient.

That could still be a while. This was posted on the MCP (Mod Coder Pack) news page, which Optifine relies on, about the 1.7 update:

Quote
Progress on the 1.7 update
We are usually not talking about the progress while working on an MCP update. This time I make an exception.
Posted by Searge /  06.11.2013
The update of MCP for 1.7.2 is a huge task. So much changed in the game, this is probably the most difficult update for us since we started the project. But the changes are a huge step towards an official API and they will help modders to make better mods as soon as MCP, FML and Forge are updated.

Unfortunately we could not work on the update for the past few days. Everyone is waiting for something that I need to take care of and, as many of you may have noticed, I was at Minecon 2013 in Orlando. So I could not really work on the update, but that will change now.

And for those of you who are worried about the future of MCP, I can assure you that it won't be abandoned or stopped anytime soon. As long as we have a need for MCP, it will be updated for new Minecraft releases. Me joining Mojang as a fulltime developer on Minecraft does not change anything for MCP, we already got all the support we needed from Mojang for our updates for the last 2 years.

Please keep in mind that MCP is not just me, we are a team of 6 very talented people, all working on keeping MCP alive and updated. So make sure you also direct your messages to ProfMobius, IngisKahn, Fesh0r, ZeuX and R4wk if you send me "thanks" for the work we are doing. And of course, also direct your criticism to all of us ;)

I went over to look, and you might want to look on your lighting situation - you've got zombies spawning!

Btw, was wandering the wilderness, and I found somebody's dropped loot. Put it in a chest outside the community house - was some armor, some food, some blocks, and an enchanted sword and pick.

You can place a block of TNT high up with no blocks below it, and when you light the fuse it will drop down. I wouldn't recommend clearing caves with that method, though. Take a bucket of lava and flood the place. Everything dies. And it's reusable!

Just watch out for witches. Goddamn witches.

As I've discovered that my internet is FAR too slow to join the server, I've been doing some single-player stuff. Mainly messing about in creative. But I've discovered the best thing about the new update: Using the new setblock command in a command block, you can place a redstone block anywhere you want at any time, allowing for wireless redstone. It's awesome; I'm trying to make an adventure map with it.

I set to work on the valley to the south, which has a mountain with a hollow spire. I managed to cure two zombie villagers, and I dug out houses for them and hopefully their offspring in the cave wall. Currently they're trading emeralds for coal or porkchops. My next step is to set up a pig farm.

Remember that villagers count single doors as houses, as long as there is more shelter behind the door than in front of it. So you can cut a 2-block-high, 3-block-deep cave into a cliff face, and make the outer wall entirely out of doors. Factory farming.

I don't know. The last time I was in a village in SP there wasn't a single golem, so I might just build one myself.

Yeah, I saw the tutorials on villager breeding. I'm not so keen on turning my home into a villager factory, though, so I'm gonna keep it sensible and give them actual houses.

Also, I'd like to get everyone's help in completing a small project. SageJiraiya gave me the idea to convert the cave through the mountain into a crypt, and that's exactly what I've done. It's full of coffins now, but it's no good if they're all anonymous. So I'm inviting everyone to come over and give a grave a name and an epitaph, along with an item that may have belonged to the deceased. For example:

Go nuts! This is where you need to go:

Sooooooooo...
I made myself a hole to live in.
I made a portal.
I corrected my portal to go to the right spot in the nether.
But I ran into an issue: I shall try to explain:

SageJiraiya Nether Portal--> SageJiraiya Base
SageJiraiya Base--> SageJiraiya Nether Portal
Spawn Nether Portal--> Spawn Base
Spawn Base--> Spawn Nether Portal
LTK Nether Portal--> LTK Base
LTK Base--> SageJiraiya Nether Portal

So, when you leave from LTK's to the nether you end up at my portal, but they're only like 10 blocks apart.
That's the only issue.

Actually, I made two, but the first one is at a dumb place and won't work well. This one got me up to 30 in a few minutes:

Go towards Valdis' place in the nether, and then take the first right if you want to use it.

Who was it that built a tunnel/bridge through a large chunk of landscape, starting above a ravine, in the direction of negative x? I've died at about x=-1500 and I want to know if there's anyone close enough to that area for the chunks to be loaded and risk my items despawning.

Thought i might show off one of my older servers. i built a programmable movie player. with the ability to draw each frame, then save/erase it. screen resolution 30X30 (each pixel is 3X3 blocks) . able to save up to 20 frames of info, giving it 2250 bytes of memory. but could be infinitely expanded for more frames.  built on vanilla mc version 1.1 using mcedit as well. at last count it had 3.9million redstone wire. i forget the dimensions, but its about 300 blocks wide, 120 high, 1400 long (mcedit doesnt want to open it now so i cant get exact details). i never quite finished it, i could never get the input to work and also not be in the way of the screen, and didn't finish the automatic play back, (you could still manually flick between frames.) - based off this 14x14 single frame design http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/733894-touch-paint-taking-redstone-to-a-new-level-of-complexity/

God damn son.  I wouldn't have the patience to wire something like that.

that's creative mode for ya.

I don't think there is that much of the necessary materials in survival mode.

BTW: there is a Witch in the woods/mountains EAST of Town.  Bitch swarmed me with enchanted zombies last night.

I just got the image of a midwife and a woman giving birth swinging towards each other on a trapeze - when they meet, the midwife pulls the baby out. The knife juggler is standing on the floor and cuts the umbilical cord with a a knifethrow.

Public service announcement:

Were you planning a idyllic cross-country trek on horseback to find surprising new and faraway places? Well, have I got news for you!

Don't. Don't even consider it. Ever. Terrain that blocks your passage every ten meters, unresponsive horse controls and the worst lag in the entire fucking universe are the things you have to look forward to, and then the horse throws me off his back because it stepped in water and a zombie and witch kill me while I lagged out.

So that's the reason there is now one less horse, saddle and horse armor at the spawn village.
