Guys I am just creating this thread because I for one really need just one all-purpose one-hit beardstravaganza.

This can be a place to post your Novembeard (or Decembeard, or Manuary, etc) progress, get beard advice, or just show off how pretty your face looks with a beard. All those things.

I am glad there are so many of us that appreciate the loveliness of a hairy-faced man.

With one exception that I started to grow back out the very day I shaved it, I have been bearded for about 7.5 years now. I started growing it the day my youngest daughter was born. Prior to that I had about 3.5 years of a friggin' wicked fu manchu. Unfortunately, however, I am a corporate stiff and full fledged beardy-goodness is somewhat frowned upon. Therefore I am merely --lamely-- van dyked. Not only that, but its starting to turn grey. *sigh* I've even been considering shaving it completely if I can lose a few more pounds so my bare cheeks don't look so damn round.

Corporate conformity sucks.

Actually the only way I can think a van dyke would be acceptable is if it's grey. Greyness + facial hair is a good thing.

I actually get a lot of compliments on the grey. In fact, I can't think of anyone who has said anything other than it looks good, or distinguished, or... pick your adjective.

I, however, hate it. Mentally, I'm still about 17. I don't particularly care for the visual reminders of middle age. Especially because my facial hair is a glorious riot of brown, blond and red. I've always been pretty fond of it. My father used to have jet black hair, but then there was this distinct line in his sideburns where the black stopped and his facial hair was flaming red. It was was wild. Of course, he went grey younger than I did, so I guess I better not complain too much.

A couple of haircuts ago my barber said "Ok, done."
I'm all like "Great, thanks."
Then he says "Yeah, I got all the grey ones for you."

Argh. Fuck.

Movember is the official name for the charity/event. It also attracts more sponsors, because a moustache stands out and is a lot more unique. Beards are boring and pretty common.

Novembeard is just for pussies, not to mention it fits into other months. Septembeard, Octobeard, Decembeard.

I still can't grow a full beard. But if I don't shave for a day, it gets really stubbly and bad-looking. It just isn't fair, it seems like if I need to shave every day I should at least have the option of growing a beard.

Unfortunately, for some reason my beard grows from the neck up, so to get anything on my face I have to deal with the disastrous neckbeard. Midterms + working 8 more hours a week have left me too exhausted to care about my facial hair as of late, but expect a trimmed and much more shapely beard soon.

He has naturally dark brown hair. However, his blue-beard endeavours are aided by a snorkel and a professional-grade hairdryer that he found for like $10. Note also that he doesn't dye his eyebrows, because getting bleach that close to his eyes just isn't worth it. (Maybe if there were some other way to bleach it, like if there is some sort of hair-dresser secret, he says he totally would.)

I seem to be accidentally doing Novembeard, I wont post pictures though cos OH-DEAR-GOD-KILL-IT-WITH-FIRE-AND-SALT-neckbeard. and even if I shave my neck it looks terrible because my sideburns, rather than growing along the line of my jaw, just go stright down into the neckbeard and for whatever reason the sides of my mouth, connecting mo to beard grows purest blond and are completely invisible.

tldr; I have done something to offend the god of beards.
