I like how they term themselves a "hardcore, progressive" band. There are so many thing so hilarious and fucked about that that I can't even begin to describe it.

The White Stripes belong to us now. Just take them over. I'll let you borrow my old red guitar if you want.

Actually, after looking at the chord progression again, the argument could be made that it is in G the whole time and just starts on the ii chord (Am)...  I guess it depends on what you do with the melody...

nah, i think it starts in a minor. i mean, playing it out loud just as 3 note chords it wants to go back to a major, but you could easily get it to go back to g. actually, i guess its kind of an a dorian thing.

You could go back to G. After that, try playing F, and after that I have no other suggestions that wouldn't be obvious.

Holy shit, I think my band might have played a show with Man The Harpoons at some point.  We played a show at the train station in Shepherdstown and all of the other bands were just like them.

Nobody liked us.

WHAT YOU ARE AROUND SHEPHERDSTOWN! I KNOW 'BOUT THAT TRAIN STATION!

i've never been to a show there though so i dunno what kind of crowd that place draws. usual towny crowd that hangs at the wall, i guess. anyway, i mean i think man the harpoons has only played like, two shows, the second being tonight and the first was at the castle, so i dunno? maybe they have?

also shepherdstown as a whole as a fucking awful taste in music.

Well, I guess it must've been some other shitty metalcore band, then.

Yeah!  I live in College Park, my band at the time was centralized in Frederick, so we mostly played shows in that whole Western-Maryland area.

Regardless, we had a really weird time in Shepherdstown; the whole place kind of freaked me out.  We arrived at the train 2 hours before we were scheduled to play (we were first in the line-up) and there was nobody there... The venue was locked.  So we went to a little cafe closer to campus where I was hit on by an attractive waitress.  On the way back to the venue, some dude tried to pick a fight with my band's bassist for no reason.  Then, the only news reporter in the town told us about how his last story was about a missing turtle and how our predicament could be his next big article.

We got back to the venue 20 minutes before we were scheduled to go on and they were just setting up.  We played, nearly half the crowd left to smoke outside and the rest of the bands were some denomination of -core.  Oh, and it rained the whole time.

did you go to the lost dog? the guy who owns the place only hires cute girls cause he's really creepy and weird. but yeah that sounds like most train station shows i have heard about.

You could go back to G. After that, try playing F, and after that I have no other suggestions that wouldn't be obvious.

I did this, sort of. Since I was going back and forth with Em/G (which already has that G) and plain ol' E minor, I ended up climbing the ladder and going Em, F, Em/G. With how I'm actually playing it, a normal G seemed a bit too chimey and bright.

I need to work out one last bit this afternoon, but I'll get it recorded and upload it for you guys soon.

(psssssssssst shane im gonna tell you a secret)

(em/G is just an e minor chord in first inversion. i mean, an eminor chord is e, g, b. all thats done differently is that g is thrown in the bass, not e. so it's still e minor. THE MORE YOU KNOW!)

I know Sean. I did take theory for about half a semester. It's just that to my ears, playing E minor with the added G sounds better than a plain G major chord.

ps can we get lyrics

yeah sure

Quote
I wanna see your name in the headlines
with a lede that says, "He said, 'She said she wouldn't be mine.'"
And up above the eight-point uppercase byline
there's a picture of me, and I'm being led outside

You've been awfully quiet since he came around
but I'm keeping tabs on you, got my ear to the ground,
and what I hear is you're the talk of the town
but I knew that already. I'm keeping my ears to the ground.
His lips are lavish with yr praise, he seems
totally sincere and you are kind of amazed he
hasn't gone ghost like Swayze;
in fact, his permanence is driving me kinda crazy.

Was Regina too cold for you to handle last night?
Did you find someone who would give you a light
and a hand, and some words, and a ride, and a kiss?
You know, it's moments like this that I'm gonna miss.
And every step past an alleyway's a step that I fear,
'Cause every sound is your name, and it's the last name I wanna hear –
But at the same time, I could go on hearing it all night.

There's something kinda crazy about it;
Yeah, I think I'm in love. No, I wouldn't even doubt it –
wanna go up to the rooftops and shout it.
And if I can't live with it, he can live without it.
It's Sunday night, there's nothing to do. I better
pour myself a stiff drink and get some pictures of you.
And what you're feeling is the turn of the screw;
I'm not sure if I'm tight enough but, hey, I think it'll do.

Was Regina too cold for you to handle last night?

I read about the evils of drinking, so I quit
reading
And when I saw your name made the phone start ringing
I picked it up, said "I'm gonna miss you" without even thinking
Of anything except his cum on your sheets
And when you asked what was wrong I had to lie through my teeth,
you said I sounded so fatalistic well
I'll show you fatalistic

Not really a song, but a random jam we decided to release on the internet. Not my best work, but these things happen sometimes. What do y'all think?

http://patrickjames.bandcamp.com/track/ill-be-back

Beatles cover. Recorded vocals in the bathroom for the first time ever, and I loved the result. And I recorded the lead vocal part twice. Lots of testing shit out that I haven't done before, and I'm liking how it's working out. Now if I could just stop sucking at balancing instruments and vocals, and I'll be set.

Also if I were less off in my pitch that'd be lovely too.

My band, The Riveras, just got our final mixes back.  It's moody indie rock with violins and lots o' reverb.  Here's the results, tell me what ya think-

We now have better, less compressed mixes up on our reverbnation/facebook site:

there's a LOT of situations where a show can feel really uncomfortable but fuck it, you aren't the kings of leon, you're probably in a good band if you're reading this thread, you got this bro, whip out your nuts and slap an audience member in the face with them, let them all know who's boss
