Love the epic Dora burn he managed to slide in at the last second.
I don't know if it's a real super power, if every f.... person on this planet has it.

Huh, it looks like Danielle Corsetto AND Randy Milholland have drawn guest strips for Jeph! This should be good!

I wonder if Mr. Milholland can possibly outdo himself...
This one is good, but the earlier one is better.

It's like Mr. Milholland knows exactly which buttons to push... and then takes to them with a cartoonishly over-sized mallet.

Milholland isn't the only one pushing buttons; note the newspost.

Had to vote other for the poll - see there was this rather attractive young lady cosplaying a Wood Elf War Dancer at the Cdn Grand Tournament in 2007....

So to recap:

  • Chris Hallbeck, Maximumble and Book of Biff (Five minimalist strips)
  • Dave Willis, Shortpacked and Dumbing of Age (Hanners and Buttwiping)
  • Dave Kellett, Sheldon and Drive (Hanners' old friend DefenseNet-10)
  • Evan Dahm, Rice Boy (Coffee of Doom Snapshot)
  • Zach Weiner, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (Hannelore discovers Pintsize's Secret!)
  • Danielle Corsetto, Girls With Slingshots (Marigold's Secret Drawer)
  • Randy Milholland, Something*Positive (She's NOT PIZZA GIRL! Right, Garlic Bread Kitty?)

Notice which character appeared in ALL SEVEN GUEST STRIPS.

And I want SOMEONE to color today's strip!

Huh. I did change the dates on some of the poll entries, because I found them after digging around my HD. Dunno why you ended up getting two votes.

In the long run, it doesn't matter much (except to the cosplayers).

Well, of course. Danielle also knows about  that secret Jamie/Hazel slashfic that Jeph has on his computer. :psyduck:
Somewhat different when you consider that Ms. Corsetto is sometimes known to openly ship-tease Jamie/Hazel. Granted the attraction is one-sided if it exists at all, and thus nothing could ever come of it, but it's slightly different of a situation than Marigold and Hannelore who... as far as I know have never shown any signs of attraction. There's a good, close friendship blooming, but anything else is pure wishful thinking.

Now I know you were just joking anyway, but still... I wanted to comment.

Of all the depictions of Hannelore I've seen, I think I like Randy's take on her today best. She retains that innocent kind of feel through her expressions, but looks more like an adult. It's not that I dislike Jeph's Hannelore, I mean that is kind of how she's supposed to look after all, since it's Jeph's comic. I just like to see different takes on the characters, and I like this one in particular of her.

For comic #1978...

1. Douglas Adams' Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy references!  Loved it!  Both for the Improbability Drive and the freshly incarnated sperm whale references.

2. There totally needs to be Adams' Laws.  Like Aasimov's Three Laws of Robotics, but sillier :-D .

3. I liked panel #3, that must have been an interesting angle for Jeph to draw (always like it when it experiements with view-angles).  I also liked how Raven does not look surprised at all.

4. It will be interesting to see if Jeph does anything with the Art Gallery & Faye, story-wise.

5. And remember...

Don't Panic.   (and always keep a towel handy)

How does Adams' Law apply? There's no "more likely" about it; Raven calculated that it would reappear in 1 day, 2 hours, and 53 minutes. Did she forget about the calculations she made?

I wonder if Raven did that trick delibrately?  The practical upshot of her "experiment" is that Faye has time to fix the mechanics of the device without the commissioner blaming her.

Or it could be a display of power on Raven's part. "Wow I made a solid object disappear and reappear seemingly at my will. Gonna call me a ditz now?"

Ok I doubt that but that is quite an accomplishment isn't it? (Or maybe it's not in the QC-verse)

I assumed that Jeph, in a subtle way, had referenced something from my childhood.

I'm sure you can see where "It's Back" in reference to an espresso machine shaped like a dinosaur is comparable to "We're Back," a movie about dinosaurs.

"Head detaching problem"?

That thing has a habit of catastraphic failure of the pressure vessel. It sent a chunk of metal across the room and discharged superheated steam.

Until the pressure seal is completely re-engineered, I'd keep it away from anything valuable!

Nice reference Jeph made there.

I thought it was the HSOWA joke.

Umm... no.

I assumed that Jeph, in a subtle way, had referenced something from my childhood.

I'm sure you can see where "It's Back" in reference to an espresso machine shaped like a dinosaur is comparable to "We're Back," a movie about dinosaurs.

You can think that all you like, but as a two word statement about something that left abruptly, "It's back!" is pretty innocuous.

Just another fine example of a viewer seeing something that probably hadn't even crossed the artists mind...

Since nobody has pointed it out yet:

Brick Joke trope!

Also, Flat What.

Also, I tried to find if there was an Adams' Law on TvTropes, but then decided actually finding it would be extremely unlikely.

No links to tempt the unwary and lower productiivity, thereby increasing the work that needs to get done, resulting in new hires to lower the unemployment rate? Son I am disappoint.

Brick Joke and Flat What.

It took me a minute to realize he meant Douglas Adams... I was left thinking, "is this the guy who told us not to buy any Orson Scott Card books without giving an equal amount to GLAAD?"

What in the world? What kind of insane troll logic is that? (not refering to Near Lurker, but to whoever near Lurker is quoting.)

Either it's that Jeph is a genius or Jeph is [I won't finish this sentence or I'll get banned again].

I prefer the former.

I think it was perhaps that Card has said things like the quote at the top of this article, and if Jeph did say that (I vaguely remember something like that being said by someone having something to do with this comic a while back), it was probably just said to make a point about neutrality and whatnot, especially (I didn't read the whole article, it might say one way or the other) if Card publicly donates profits of book sales to anti-LGBT groups.

Personally I fail to see the relevance of the comment at all. It probably just went over my head, but I don't see any connection between Adams and the LGBT agenda.
