When I practiced kung fu back in the long, long-ago I was on the receiving end of one of these. Sparring and my partner punched towards my face. I thought he was feinting to get me to raise my hands so he could kick me in the gut so I didn't fall for it. No sir. Unfortunately he wasn't feinting and I had a nice big red welt on my forehead for about a week. On the plus side I learned that I can take a punch to the face and not even wobble. Hooray for Irish heritage!

Seriously though given the coffee-shop-fu match where these two first met each other I don't think Padma's "greeting" was super out of line and if Faye had been sober I don't think it would have been a thing.

I have this weird feeling that when Angus returns he will either face a very angry Faye or a Faye in much need of cuddling.

I would have voted "Padma makes it up to Faye by paying for her new glasses." We've established her prescription is freakin' expensive!

Added!

I have this weird feeling that when Angus returns he will either face a very angry Faye or a Faye in much need of cuddling.

I have a feeling she'll be in both states of mind simultaneously. Hopefully cuddling will win out over fighting.

Wild Padma uses Mach Punch!! It's super effective!!

So... What type is Faye, then? She's certainly not Normal!  :-P Let's see... Steel, Rock, Ice or Dark? I vote for Ice/Dark dual combo!

No, she's got to be Dark/Steel. Or maybe Dark/Fighting: either way, it would be awesome to see. :-D

Hmmm... If the's Dark, or even just part Dark, she'll be immune to Hannelore (who is clearly Psychic)...  :-D

Seeing that Faye is now confused and splayed on the floor, i'd say that she is either Normal, Rock, Steel, Ice, or Dark (2x damage if a fighting move hits them).

Indeed.  Marten no longer has health insurance to buy a new pair this time.   :-(

If I'm not mistaken, most college campus jobs offer benefits, don't they? I know the one I applied for at my school does. (they filled it before I even put in my application, primarily because of the benefits offered.) /sadface

Ah yes, a comic.

1. Of course Hanners is the one who fixes her glasses.
2. Ya think that guy in the background might be central to the plot in the near future?
3. Can't quite tell if that's cross-neck guy bugging the DJ in the background of Panel 2.
4. "I do lag a cerdain grabitas ad the mobent." = WIN. Especially considering our Pugnacious Peach's past...
5. No, I don't think that's Tai in the background. Would be interesting, but I don't think it's her.

Well, duh! Pepper-spray (assuming it wasn't something sinister cooked up in one of her Mum's corporate labs), sticky-tape, disinfectant-wipes... Hanners likes to be prepared.

Indeed.  Marten no longer has health insurance to buy a new pair this time.   :-(

Everyone in the comic should have health insurance. Faye works for a business with less than 50 employees, so she can get subsidized insurance if CoD doesn't offer anything. Whether optical care is covered under her plan has yet to be determined.

That is unless the MA healthcare reform didn't happen in the comic universe. If that's the case, Faye's stuck buying another pair of frames out of pocket or taking Padma to small claims and getting her to pay for them.

Actually, all this doesn't seem the least surprising to me.
Me, I would've been most surprised if the evening just went along fine... happy dancing, no awkwardness, talks, booze, maybe even Marten loosing up a bit ... perfect night so to say... THAT would've surprised me.

Also... when has Angus lubed her? And why would she tell Marten that? :-D

A dartboard has 20 wedges, not 16.  Also, it doesn't have a checkerboard pattern quite like that.

On the other hand, I suppose that a universe filled with robots would lean towards playing darts using powers of two.

Heh! I imagine this conversation:
Faye: Angus told me he lubed me...
Marten: So THAT'S why you're so greasy!

Usually Faye would punch Marten after a remark like that, but she's promised not to use violence anymore tonight.... Then again, with a remark like that he'd be asking for it. :-)

Anyway, glad to see that the incident didn't throw off their plans for dancing. And props to Faye to come forward about the stuff at the train station. All Marten has to do now is try to keep a straight face ('grabitas' indeed) and try to get her to relativate the whole thing. (With Padma coming back with the drinks in the last panel for the punchline of her misunderstanding some remark.)

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Ah, now it makes sense why that was confusing.  That word is not in my vocabulary!

Today I learned.

The guy in the background of panels 1&5 obviously looked at the poster one time too often.

For some reason I just kind of assumed that Tai and Padma knew eachother all along.

Oh you little rascal...

I can't figure out what "grabitas" is supposed to mean...

It's a game a bit like Duck Duck Boobs.

I just had to clap my hands over my mouth so that I wouldn't wake up my housemates with my laughter. Well done.
