I think Sergi should feature in the QC universe regularly.
Very impressed that Jeph managed to organise guest strips and the like in such a short period of time. Most people wouldn't have bothered.

I've always wondered about these commercials, how does one guy answer hundreds of calls an hour?

Dear God, we're analyzing FILLER STRIPS now.
We analyze everything- it's what we do. Some of the most energetic conversations on here have been during guest strip weeks.

It's not bad compared to other fandoms.  I was just reading the other day about the fandom around the show Supernatural.  The more wackadoo fans of that show are convinced the two male leads are a couple, and that the recent announcement of the wife of the one being pregnant is horrible, because they're bringing a poor, innocent child into their deception.  If there's anyone at that level of nuttiness about QC they sure don't hang around here.
And of course post lots- and lots of fanfiction about it. *checks fanfiction.net* 43,700 stories and counting. There's so much the brothers found some in universe and commented on how creepy it was that people were shipping them together.

I didn't think there was room on the couch for Hanners to curl up like that vettechinohio
I Googled that and only got results for "vet tech in Ohio", so what are you talking about?

All that means is that there's more that has to be eaten before it spoils...
Not if the fridge is on a patio.

That's good for a blizzard but not for a hurricane or an earthquake.
For earthquakes a producing garden is best, for hurricanes MREs.

I think Sergi should feature in the QC universe regularly.

Yes there are, both stationary desktop ones used by production kitchens and portable novelty battery ones. They've been around since at least the sixties and probably earlier.
But also the possibility of forgetting any sort of opener exists. Which is fine for pull-tab cans but nit much use for soldered ones.

Seconding Akima. I'll pause as we wait for the singularity to occur after such an unlikely event.

Anyway, if you never intend to part with the property and lack relatives who live nearby, it's probably worth investing in. Probably even more worthwhile to get one if you own a property that's isolated from neighbors, like a ranch or forest cabin.

Portable generators seem to have gotten a bit more popular in North America in recent years with folks into emergency preparedness.  They're dangerous if not used properly however.  Using them indoors can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, and people unfortunately do that.

As far as the guest strips go I wonder if Jeph didn't have some on hold already in case of emergency.  Of course the artists would either have to have a copy they could send him, or he'd have to have them stored someplace besides his main computer.

Based on Twitter, he put out a call for guest strips.

Also, regarding diesel generators, if I ever get around to building a house, I want to do a setup based on a Lister CS engine. 650 RPM, 6 hp, for the normal 6/1 single-cylinder. Quite a relaxing, quiet, thump thump thump.

Oh, and the engines are a good 700+ pounds. But, they're designed to run for months on end.

My favorites are the ones which run on a mix of natural gas and diesel. In a hurricane you can use your house's gas supply and a few percent diesel. In an earthquake with the gas off you can run 100% diesel.

*Really* expensive though.

Nice use of panels to show time passage and intensity of not-staring contest.
I like the way Willis draws Faye.
But either that's not Faye's rear end or that's some variation of the infinitely rotatable waist from that "Strong Female Characters" thing that's going around.

I think one whole week of the QC cast "in the dark" would've been better than guest strips. Marigold having a nervous breakdown in not being able to play WoW would've been a few good laughs.

No, it's about as me driving a Trablant. Or a Lada.

*nitpick* Actually, it's spelled Trabant and means satellite :>

I also suggest you try driving a Zaporozhets which Wikipedia so gently calls "subcompact". Not that it has anything to do with the topic at hand, but it would greatly contribute to my personal amusement.

Is it really a staring contest when one is looking at a spider and the other is looking at fine, fine cartoon buttocks?

Does it really matter?

The butt disease has even spread to guest cartoonists! No one is safe.

IIRC, Jeph actually caught butts disease from him.

Is it bad that I seriously want to get a Wartburg 353 Tourist?

Probably one of the best of the plebian communist cars, and it's based on a 1939 DKW prototype, with the engine enlarged and the rear suspension improved greatly. Oh, and a 1960s body plopped on the frame. On the western side of the wall, lineage of that 1939 DKW prototype goes through about 13 generations or so to the present-day Audi A4.

How often do AnthroPCs need to be plugged in? Do they have to turn off during a prolonged outage?

A deactivated life-sized friend seems like it would be a creepy thing to have around.

Or it was just a joke and such details dont really matter.

But then again, thats probably crazytalk.

Indeed.  The strip was by David Willis, so we can rule out the possibility of it containing a joke right away.
