Not wings. Pool noodle.

Never heard of it before.  Anyway it's still a flotation aid which was what I was pointing out, and my comment stands.

No it doesn't; in America, people of all ages use pool noodles for fun.

Love Hanner's "Lady" hat in the first panel. Even if this arc isn't specifically about her we still got several firsts regarding her, first the swimsuit and now the hat.

Is "fucknipples" even a viable expression? It sounds very Faye-ish, but on the practical side of things, how does one exactly accomplish that?

Also, did we ever get a confirmation about Steve's life as a secret agent? I know he said he did it and there was that one Russian woman (I believe) but there hasn't been anything since and it still sounds as outlandish as ever. Maybe he was making it up and the Russian woman was just crazy (in love, with him)?

So far, the first day of the party is going well, though, nothing has changed and the current status quo hasn't been affected. Will this really be a happy arc of fun and games?

And on the subject of Steve, isn't he missing one or two scars from his year of living the life of a mercenary/spy?

Scars can heal pretty fast, and it's definitely been quite a while since then.

Ever heard of shitting dicknipples?

No, but now that fetish exists.

And it stands just fine, with nothing to fear from me. Marten's got a pool noodle, is all I'm sayin.' Water wings, if I remember correctly, are the little inflatable things that my niece puts around my great-nieces' upper arms when they move into the pool for the summer. Only she calls them "swimmies" and "floaties" or whatever word pops into her head at the moment. I don't dispute the point; my days of being paid to correct other people's use of English are over.

Noodles? Don't talk soft. When I were a lad we 'ad to make our own fun! Best we could 'ope for was a slap round the arse from dad's belt before he chucked us in the pool! Well, I say pool, it were really more of a puddle...

Yeesh, my sympathies on the threats. I like the anime but I find it weird that people would like it enough to give serious threats.

The funny thing is that many of them are "anti-anime," and when you point out their like of anime like CB or Ghost in the Shell or FLCL, they go crazy bonkers.

Not to say the Adult Swim program block handlers as a whole are messed up as well. Their network decay since 2007 is one reason why I don't watch them anymore. And their handling of some shows (And anime in particular).

This statement is true. Weaving pool noodles into a raft is not only difficult but quite fun.

I noticed that, too. Quick threat assessment, I suppose. Cosette doesn't feel threatened by Claire, and even stands to profit from her.

Do we actually know that?
It's been established that robot limbs come with skin-like coverings bey default so there's no way to tell really.
Other than whatever test it was Hanners did to find out of marten and marigold were secret robots or not.

… actually, did anyone actually wonder why she only invited those two to space? Maybe there's more prosthetics around than we realise?

Perhaps we don't know; but she did have a limb in plaster after a fall, and I guess that if she had any prosthetic limbs this would have come up.   But I think that although there is frequent discussion of robotics in QC, there's no reason to think that it is going to become a strip populated largely by robots and augmented humans (let alone that is already such in secret).  [ref: Occam's razor]

For some reason I at first interpreted "Watch out for dragonfly larvae!" and "You get used to it" as being related.

Lots of single women around, but they were all already in Marten's social circle, and pursuing the interns would be unethical. Of course Jeph has no problem with introducing additional characters.

I guess this lets us know that she does have an attraction in men even if she thinks her brother is an idiot.

The things implied by this statement are rather worrying. :psyduck:

Well, that wasn't my intent but at this point in the story where relationships are starting to happen at random, Claire being a lesbian wouldn't surprise me in the grand scheme of things. Of course, my main focus of the story as of lately is Marten's chance at having a decent relationship with someone who doesn't have as many issues as Dora/Faye. Is that wrong?

6. The current attendance-count for lake party go'ers is:

Boys...

 1- Angus
 2- Clinton (single, probable)
 3- Marten (single, confirmed)
 4- Steve

Girls...

 1- Claire (single, probable)
 2- Cosette
 3- Dora
 4- Emily (single, assumed)
 5- Faye

 6- Gabrielle (single, assumed)
 7- Marigold (single, confirmed)
 8- Momo (single, robot)
 9- Tai
10- "Tannelore" 8-) (single, confirmed, fabulous hat)

7. Unless something changes, or Jeph simply writes it regardless of any development, I do not see Marten getting romantically involved with his library charges.  Less because of age or likability, but personalites & type(s).

8. [Tai]: ...you (Marten) need the extra responsibility. (#2214)  I got your (archival) back jwhouk.  [Plus trying out reversing my usual colorations, since the forum now auto-colors web-links orange(-ish)].

I wouldn't call Marigold definitively single, since we have no indication one way or the other that she isn't trying a long-distance thing with her space-scientist.

It's still safe to assume not though as there has been zero mention of it and in QC time a couple of weeks or so should have passed by now.

Not at all! But it would have to be funny, and that's harder to do with good relationships. Also there would have to be a character who doesn't have as many issues as Dora/Faye.

Ha! Guess she'll be paying Cosette a lot of money this weekend. I guess this lets us know that she does have an attraction in men even if she thinks her brother is an idiot. Also, what are the chances that something romantically happens for our hero Marten? I couldn't care less about Tai/Dora at this point but Steve did bring up a good point last week about being surrounded by all of these women and not dating one of them. Go Marten go!
My inner lover of redheads wants a Marten/Claire, but my inner perv wants Steve/Cosette/Claire to happen, solely based on #2301, no matter how much money has to exchange hands.

Or it's simply not the focus, and it's quite possible that Marigold is one who is discreet about such things. It's not like every aspect of every character's life is documented by the comic.

I'm surprised at Faye having her glasses on in the water, even though we know how blind she is without them (makes it easier for us to recognise her, though).

Marten's hair is the only one that does at least look a bit wet; maybe he's got the floats because he's so bony he actually sank without them!
