Haven't seen Yelling Bird in awhile.

I imagine throwing hammers is like throwing axes: extremely fun and destructive; if I don't buy any gear at Ren Faires, much of my money goes to the throwing ax booth (and archery range).

That's probably for the best. You wouldn't want to touch something that was stuck in Yelling Bird's cloaca.

Augh!  Lost part of the post editing the pic size.

Just observing that it's knives instead of hammers, but that it was pretty close for a smart ad...

yes indeed. thank you sir, for helping rescue our dear artist from his self-destructive habits.

really though, it is good to hear that he's relaxing a bit. i hate to see creative people grind themselves down by continually forcing productivity.

of course, now i'm kind of wondering if yelling bird is & has always been jeph giving public voice to his inner daemons. and we've all just been laughing at it for all these years.

Hahaha. Nyom nyom nyom. The worst thing about strips like this is that I can never explain why I think they're funny. "Oh it's like this little robot and he's like nyom nyom haha you should see it and marten is like DUUUUDE and uh it's so funny you've gotta see it....".

I really think Jeph is enjoying the shit out of drawing Pintsize these days. He hasn't been the most emotive character in the past, in terms of facial expressions, but now he's gone a bit crazy with the anime-esque mouths.

I really think Jeph is enjoying the shit out of drawing Pintsize these days. He hasn't been the most emotive character in the past, in terms of facial expressions, but now he's gone a bit crazy with the anime-esque mouths.

Thing is, Jeph did a great job conveying Pintsize's attitudes and expressions with little more than the vacant eyes, the straight-line mouth and one or two variations of the open mouth; mostly it was context and body attitude. Could be interesting to see where he takes Pintsize's new expressiveness.

Pintsize is turning into Calvin's dad http://www.thepracticalnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/calvinhobbes.gif

Check out panel #2, compare to the last panel in the QC strip. The whole thing made me think of Hobbes savoring a Tuna sandwich, but I couldn't find any actual examples of Hobbes making that face.
