A new year, a new Mafia game! Games 1 and 2 were successful... for the villains. Let's see if the villagers can catch up, yes?

Recap: Mafia is a game traditionally composed of two factions, the village, the majority who do not know their own members, and the mafia, the minority who know their own members. The mafia aim to kill villagers during the night until only their own remain. Meanwhile, the villagers vote on who to lynch during the day in order to weed out the mafia scum. Lynches occur when over half the players vote on a target.

Though the mafia may have the ability to kill a villager once a night, some villagers gets roles of their own whether it be discerning the role of another person or the ability to protect a fellow player from getting killed.

Game 3 has the minimum of 14 once again, but as I've stated before, I'd like to play a custom version. It would be based on the Nasuverse and requires 17+ players. More is better, as the mischief and chaos possible with so many is pretty much endless. And there are more roles that way, too. To up the challenge, roles will not be announced beforehand. If we can't get to 17, we'll play a smaller custom game based on a different world instead.

I do find it funny that y'all are voting "to balance it up" when it says in black and white on my death announcement that at least one character (mine) has the power to increase the strength of their vote by using words only BS will recognise. So yeah, that might not work, kids...

Can I make a proposal that might make things easier for everyone, but especially Black Sword? Can we vote like this: I vote *insert name here*. It doesn't have to be red, but at least the text would stand out more than just bolded.

yes, red bold text will stand out much more cleanly. Though had it been in play beforehand, you'd have died.

I'm still keeping the majority vote rule. It makes for a slow start for the game, but once everyone warms up, the bloodbath starts and I am duly entertained.

Well, if Pat was actually trying to create a tie, he would have seen the votes too and probably wouldn't have voted. (Also I think the vote that was missed was dr. nervioso. I accidentally wrote riccostar.) But either way - oh well! I've actually gotten kind of busy recently, so it wouldn't have bothered me too much.

Does voting No Lynch count as a vote to lynch an immortal target so that if there are (fex.) 4 No Lynch, 3 Linds, 2 dlN, nobody would be lynched? Or is it that voting No Lynch is the same as not voting at all and will always lose?

There's a simple solution to the counting problem: make the decision to lynch a poll. The poll starts with everyone's name in it, and a single vote allowed; vote changing can be allowed; the current totals are visible to all; after any death, the entries for those names are deleted and the poll is reset. Of course, this enables anonymous voting, but you have the option to explain your vote in the thread to try to get support.

That would be the perfect solution.... if anonymous voting didn't make it easy for mafia to vote and then lie which was theirs.... or people outside the game intruding... not that I would think that would be an issue on this forum, but it would leave the possibility open. Which could all be double checked by having everyone post who they voted for and throwing out the inconsistencies, but then that kind of puts us back at square one anyway.
