Isn't there an option to make it...not anonymous? Besides that, it seems like it would be fairly against the rules to lie about your vote.

Sorry, no.  I do realise it would be a change to how things are at present - just a suggestion for an alternative.

Well, if Pat was actually trying to create a tie, he would have seen the votes too and probably wouldn't have voted. (Also I think the vote that was missed was dr. nervioso. I accidentally wrote riccostar.) But either way - oh well! I've actually gotten kind of busy recently, so it wouldn't have bothered me too much. :)

Honesty time: I was being lazy (sue me), going only by the tally that Overlord Swordsley was keeping for us.

At first I was pissed that I got killed, but when you think about it, we get to hang out and bum drinks off the lord while everyone else scrambles to find meaning in everything.  Suckers.

Villagers have to somehow figure out who's lying and who's telling the truth, while the "Evil Ones" have to try to deceive the villagers convincingly that they aren't evil, and are only mere villagers.

This game would probably be 100x easier if it was done face-to-face, as it would be much easier to tell when someone's lying (or just are a bunch of bad actors/actresses.

Of course, on the same token, I work with a bunch of habitual liars on a daily basis, so I'd probably be able to bluff my way to victory if I was on the "evil" side.

Just an observation from a neutral observer...

Wow, this actually is the earliest henri's been taken out. I guess we'll just wait until the bitter end to hear his raaaaage. Although it seems death is the most enlightening thing about this whole game, since I've gotten a number of "shoot, I'm dead, and I figured this out, whyyyyy" PMs.

Anyway, idontunderstand, it's pretty much as jwhouk said. Even now, there's still a chance the villagers can turn things around, so long as they play smart.

I really want to jw play this game now.

Since you mentioned me by name, it's a little hard to post this and still seem neutral, however...

My interpretation of the above is pretty much if you're dead, don't post anything that you know could affect the game or those still playing it. Of course, it's our GM's call what is and isn't acceptable.

It's borderline, since it's not quite knowledge from the game so much as declaration of intent before demise, but it's close enough to constitute influencing the game from beyond the grave.

Barmymoo's death scene had that 1% chance happened was actually pretty easy to write.

It was obvious in the darkness. The moment Friar Barmymoo saw J, it was clear that this person no longer followed the path of God. J had abandoned humanity for demonic power. Nothing more needed to be said. Friar Barmymoo was marked for death.

Still, within the house of God, for a believer in whom Christ dwelt, who carried upon him a sacred relic, a miracle could be performed.

The Friar led the monster deeper into the Church, making inconsequential talk. It was almost a grotesque comedy, how his last words would be so mundane toward such an awful monster. J himself seemed sardonically amused, his answers easy, relaxed. Soon, he would make his move.

The relic was a Key of Providence, a simple rope that Saint France himself had used to turn a blood drinker back to ash. It was wrapped around Barmymoo's right arm. It took less than a moment for the Friar to undo the knot. It would take a few moments to use, but he had to get close enough to J without raising suspicion. The how of it eluded Barmymoo  until divine inspiration struck.

Barmymoo stopped before the crucifix and apologized for not having embraced J, a brother in Christ. Arms open wide, Barmymoo watched an awful smile bloom on J's face. The embrace felt like death, but the Friar was prepared. The holy Key of Providence was quickly wrapped around J's waist. The moment of surprise from J was enough for Barmymoo to begin. " I kill, I give life. I injure, I heal. There are none who escape from my hands. There are none who escape from my eyes. May it be so that you are shattered.  I welcome the defeated, the aged. Surrender to me, learn from me, obey me."

Fangs sank into Barmymoo's throat, but that was not enough to stop a Friar in his holy duty! Even as J drank Barmymoo's blood, the secret rite emerged from pale lips. "May you be at rest. Do not forget the song, do not forget the prayer, do not forget me. I relieve you of all burdens. May it be so that there is no deception."

Even as lifeforce was stolen by the desperate J, who could not escape the binding of the sacred Key of Providence, Barmymoo continued the holy work. Death would come, but with death, so would heaven. " Retaliation unto forgiveness, betrayal unto belief, despair unto hope, darkness unto light, death unto life. May you rest in my hands. Let there be mark of your sins. Eternal life is found only in death. Forgiveness is before you, and so my incarnation vows."

With the last bit of life, the Friar finishes. "Kyrie Eleison."

A sacrament, a miracle of God derived from faith. The teachings of God are the greatest weapons against spirits. The Key of Providence that eliminates wandering souls. It sublimated the eternal and damned life of the Dead Aposle with great mercy.

Only ashes remained of J as Barmymoo's lifeless body fell to the floor.

edit: added music. Everyone else had it, after all!

Why did GWF keep switching between Hebrew and Greek? I know those were the languages that the Bible was written in originally, but it just seems kind of odd.

Hey kids, it's time for Black Sword's Knowledge Corner! Today we're tackling demonology!

"El Elohim...(etc.)" is an extract from the Grimoire of Armadel. It was actually omitted from the translation of another grimoire (one of the Solomons) by the translator. He figured it didn't belong. In general, the long, torturous chant is a way to depict a very powerful spell by drawing on existing systems of magic.

The demons, for those with some knowledge, are chronicled in the Ars Goetia. In order, they were Eligor, Flauros, and Andras. The short chant was used to show GWF could summon dukes of hell to do his dirty work quickly, while Andras, a marquis (outranks dukes) required more effort. Andras is supposed to be very powerful, yet very dangerous to the summoner, a desperation move he had the foresight to do. The bit of Latin GWF used translates literally as "rise, spirits!"

The short chant is composed of the letters of God's name spoken aloud while simultaneously referencing the origin of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, the horror novel Megami Tensei. Never officially translated, the first two books were translated by a fan. There's a bounty for a translation of the third.

Basically, Rule of Cool mixed with Functional Magic.

Or you can go with his explanation, either or.
