Hope you're feeling better soon, but some of those symptoms, if not recurring, may be from a virus and not just a migraine - you may want to see a vet doctor.

Interesting day yesterday.  I unexpectedly may have learned a bit of 100-year old family gossip.

I posted on Facebook that it was Home Children day in Ontario, with a bit about my grandparents and great uncle.  A cousin in England ** reposted it, then my sister did.

Turns out the cousin hit up my sister yesterday to find out more.

It turns out that back before my grandfather came over as a home child, there was a split in the family due to a brother being born of mixed race.  The family kind of fractured (some cut ties with mixed race brother, some did not), and English cousin and my sister had different ideas as to what might have happened that led to 2 brothers being sent to Canada as orphan labourers.  In any case, the UK split in the family was something that I don't think any of us in Canada even knew about.  Apparently, the English family is only recently starting to reconnect, in much the same way that the Canadian family is starting to reconnect wtih England.

E

** I've probably told the story somewhere else on here, but we've really only been reconnected to the England family for less than 20 years.

There was a pun formin' in Norman,
which came from the brain of a foreman.
Distracted, he died, not paying attention; alas, the obituary won't mention
what pun might've been formin' in Norman.

Being home sick is dangerous - I just applied for another job. It's essentially one I already do, except this time it's paid, so that would be an improvement.

It depends.....is it an additional job or a replacement for a current job? I could definitely see an additional one being dangerous. Taking on too much could lead to even more sick days.....

Little Cheese got it. I have an odd compulsion to apply for any and all jobs I might be able to do, and to be honest often ones I wouldn't be able to do, and then I find myself far too busy.

From the WCDT:
But I bought materials for pancakes today. Tomorrow is national holiday, so I can't go buy food.

yay, moronic flatmate.

He left the flour open, as well as the cabinet, and I wasn't in the kitchen for quite a while, and fucking spiders had built a nest in the flour package. The fuck.

So now I had some weird failed omelette/scrambled eggs monstrosity which contained far too much milk and thus tasted sweet, because of the sugar in the milk.

So I ate that, it tasted weird, and I'm still hungry. National holidays suck.

Gaithersburg. And Maryland is surprisingly long. It takes about 2.5 hours to go from Gaithersburg to my mom's house in Allegany County.

Meh... There are no large states in the USA. If you add Alaska and Texas together they are still smaller than Western Australia. By over 230,000 square kilometres. :-P

The distance from Perth to Brisbane, though, is still pretty much close to what a trip from LA to New York is, is it not?

EDIT: In fact, it's longer to go from LA to New York, by about 130 km.

Yeah, but Western Australia also has the population of 2 1/2 Rhode Islands.  That's a state you can almost see across if you stand on a chair.  Did the spiders eat everyone in Western Australia?

Alaska is probably the only state with a comparable size to an Aussie one, and not even one of the larger states..

Hehehe, helium.

Re: states - Our states may not be very big, but there's a lot more people and that's part of the reason there are lots of smaller states. (I personally do not want to live in a big state. Too conservative.) But, while our countries are relatively the same size, but the middle of ours is actually livable and the entire country isn't overrun by animals that want to fuck up your shit, so there.

Well, we have some pretty deadly fauna.  It just tends to be of the human variety.  I'd rather check my shoes for spiders than have the crime rate the US has.

I feel like most of you are SERIOUSLY underestimating the size of Alaska.

And quit being dramatic Hedgie, crime rates in the U.S. are the lowest they've ever been in your life time... and literally everyone else on the forum for that matter.

Been on a downward trend for 30+ years, although speculations about exactly *why* this trend started when it did, and what factors come into play is another can of worms.  I'm rather impressed that it's so steady, even through recessions and whatnot.  I am certainly *not* complaining about that.

Considering I'm irrationally afraid of spiders and most other creepy insects/arachnids, I'd rather NOT have to check my shoes. Also it's not just the bugs, I'm pretty sure that every single animal in Australia is there to fuck up your shit.

XXXX is also called the Terror Incognita. Almost all animals and plants in XXXX are dangerous; when Death requested a book about the dangerous creatures of XXXX from his library, he was subsequently hit by a large pile of books consisting of the various volumes of "Dangerous Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians, Birds, Fish, Jellyfish, Insects, Spiders, Crustaceans, Grasses, Trees, Mosses and Lichens of Terror Incognita", the total books going up to Volume 29C Part 3, while a request for information about the harmless creatures merely produced a note saying "Some of the sheep". The land is inhospitable because the flora and fauna all hate you and there is never any rain.

There are some other venomous mammals, but the ones I'm thinking of off the top of my head live in Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, and not on the mainlands of the Americas.
