Yes I leave you all for the land of the rising sun, I'm too adrenaline buzzed to sleep, and it's wake up time about now to get ready to leave for the airport. I'll probably be back for a little bit waiting for my next plane in LAX.

Sake it to me baby!

Fun fact: Saying "sake" in Japanese is the equivalent of saying "alcohol" in English. While everyone knows what you mean, the precise term for Japanese rice wine is "nihonshu"

Writing on my assignment. Roughly half an hour left, one subsection to go (must be turned in by midnight). I feel half-asleep and half-hyped beyond recognition. It will be too short, I know it, but I don't know what to write :|

Somehow I doubt I could have made it relevant to CS.

...maybe I should have written a for-loop as an example and be like "okay, the output of this method will be:"

  • That's a smashing blouse. FELLA!

I want to make a terrible dance remix/mash-up of something for my media course because due to my being sick last week and the deadlines being this week, I've reach No More Fucks To Give stage. Any suggestions for what annoying thing I can mix to make even more terrible? I'm thinking something mixed with Space Jam because that's a thing.

Keep in mind I've already made an elevator version of Portal's Still Alive. I also did a looping version of Fandango's theme, also elevator'd. That's my Giving A Fuck standard.

I had sake in Japan once.  It was one of the worst drinks I have ever had.  I also had the best mixed drink I ever had at a Shakeys Pizza in Harujuku.

I am moving to Tempe, Arizona in the Phoenix metro area in the next 15 days and still have to find an apartment.  This background check company screwed around with me so much it ate my time to get ready.  It is my first post graduation real person job and I am leaving all my family and friends to go there.  I have never even been to Arizona before.  I am pretty nervous and stressed, but also super excited.

Anyone been to or live in the Phoenix area? Any local tips or things I should check out?

I live in the Phoenix area, Chandler, to be exact.  This is a pretty fun place to live.  And you're arriving for the special Summer Edition - temperatures above 100o F every day.

Yeah, I am bracing for that.  It gets over 100 in Boise during the summer, but nothing ever getting close to 120.  How is the public transportation?  I want to try taking the light rail if it works out.  I have a car, but I do not want to deal with parking, gas, traffic, and all that.

Public transportation is not all that bad, but it can take some time to get places.  The light rail is nice.  It runs from Mesa into downtown Phoenix, and out into the northern part of town.  We have ridden it to various places, and it is nice.

Rush hour is bad, but not as bad as some large areas.  I typically worked places where I was going the opposite direction from the main rush hour traffic, so I am less familiar with how bad it can get.

Depending on where you will be working, parking isn't too bad.  If you will be working in "downtown" Tempe, there is plenty of public parking, and the prices aren't too bad.

Also in Tempe, there are a ton bunch of good places to eat, including Mexican, Italian, Japanese, Thai, and Irish.

Hey Jace you didn't post all weekend what is up with that?
Oh let me show you:

(click to show/hide)

Finally, we took a picture of the Auxiliary Legion that fought at War Practice:

Left to right. Back Row: Enzo, Tomas, Horatius, Theowynn in front of Horatius, Alistair, Tobias, Arthul, Gero (Formerly Gerodis), Ursus. Front Row: Johannes (me), Bulvi.
Alistair, Tobias, Arthul, and Ursus are Romans but not part of the Auxiliary Legion.

This picture was slightly early while we were all about to shout AVE ROME

So today I went to one of the only two cinemas that show movies in their original sound and not dubbed, just to find that every seat had been taken. I'm now in front of a cinema to watch it with German dubs, but I'm kinda disappointed :(

Actually, other than a shirt that you can't see (the first layer), the shoes, the knees, elbows, and helmet, I made everything that I am wearing (I did have help from my armor-making friend, but the majority of cutting and hammering was done by me). The little bends in the middle of the knee and elbow fans were added by me (again with some help), and the torse (the black and green looped fabric) was made by me. I made 2 of them, one for me and one for my armor-making buddy so that we could represent our barony (as such they are in the colors of our barony, black and green).

Except for the leg armor, everything is metal based. The chest armor is aircraft aluminum covered in velvet. The legs are kydex (a type of extremely tough plastic) splints covered in velvet.

Turns out it was just a taped-shut discarded box of postcards. The fuck? Clever enough, at least.

Let's see. After the bike race, watched the Sharks game with the band. It was glorious. Then we saw Star Trek. It was awesome. Then we went out drinking. I got fucked up, Matt got fucked up, Paul doesn't drink at all so he did not get fucked up. So on the way home in Paul's shiny new Mini Cooper, we went to an empty industrial complex and completely SMASHED in it. Fun stuff when you take the traction control off and put her into sport mode. Spent the next day at band practice and basically just being 3 goofy idiot brothers. Fuckin love those guys.

Uhm.... because Google has this nice feature where you can look up movie schedules for the day in a town, I know what town you live in, and those two were approximately fitting the time slot you were describing?

I, on general, only watch movies in their original language.
Also, Loki, you scare me.
But yes, I watched Star Trek: Into Darkness.
Although I might have been watching the premiere of Fast & Furious? Because that was airing at the same time.

i've finally asked someone for help.

long-term help.

with money.

it grates at my pride and wracks me with a terrible guilt at taking from someone

and it numbs me with a terrible fear of resentment

but i asked them as a fellow unicorn and as a fellow slytherin

and as pompous and outrageous as that sounds, i honestly feel they will understand all the ways i burn.

The (mostly) true story about how I started to play D&D.

Stephen had just joined a game and was creating his character, but was unsure which class to be.

"Hey, Kat." says he "Help me choose my character.  Should I be a Bard, a Thief or a Wizard?"
"I wouldn't even begin to know how to help you choose.  I don't know what the differences are."
"Well, thieves Blah Blah Blah, COOL STUFF ABOUT BARDS, wizards Blah, Blah."
"oooOOOoo  Bard sounds cool, be that.  What sort of spells could he get at the start?"

He shows me the spells and I help him pick out all the neat things.

Next day:
"I decided to be a wizard."
"WHAT? no!  The wizard was stupid, the bard, be the bard."
"I don't want to."
"But... But... Prestidigitation... SIIIINNGGGING!!!!!"
"Nope. I think the wizard's blah blah nerd nerd blah blah"
"Can I play?  I want to be the bard."

I am still not sure if it was all a trick to get me interested or not, but I was OFFENDED that he wouldn't play the bard I helped him make, and so I insisted on playing it.  I always play something bard-like from a short race.

Hah. No. I am not even sure how multiclassing works, since levelling up not in the public SRD and I am too lazy to acquire the materials by other means.
